sorry for the noob question but if i rooted my phone and installed a custom rom.. will SEUS be able to restore my default android 2.1? has anyone tried this lately? because i've read from another thread is that SEUS and PCC skips the update..
Only if your build.prop is the same as in the Sony Ericsson ROMs. You can unbrick your phone using flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257) and it would be wise if you made a backup of the Sony Ericsson ROM. You can then restore it and run SEUS if you ever will need to send your phone for repair.

I use once super one click and once flash tool there is no difrence but flashtool can install xrecovery is well and other things so i recommend flashtool
Sent from my X8 using Tapatalk
i see.. i'm planning to go with the manual installation.. if superoneclick fails then i'll try the flashtool.. btw if i got my phone rooted and planning to install xR will any file manager work or there is a particular file manager that i have to use because root explorer is not a free app.
I just recommend flashtool

There is also a video on youtube that shows you how to install xrecovery and flash custom ROMs, and you can slo download an old root explorer from there.

If you update phone, root it , install xrecovery and then install a new rom.
Or i think you an use (if you have) a buck up from last update, and then install a rom.I am not sure for the lastone.

try watching this video to have some idea in installing another new ROM..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPV6Ue5a0Ww
Hope this can help you..
If you have flashed MiniCM, you do not need to reinstall Xrecovery, just check the installationinstructions for the other roms and flash it in Xrecovery. On some roms you just need to put the update.zip in the root and update and for other roms, you need to put the unzipped folder in the Xrecovery backup folder and backup your phone from Xrecovery.
Hi XDA members
This is a Tutorial for rooting your Arc S/Arc with locked Bootloader:
Check your firmware: It works with .42 but I doesn't work with .62
For the .62 you need to flash back to .42 with flashtool or wotanserver
A lot of people ask how to root the official ICS. Currently there's no methode to root it with locked bootloader. If you have a unlocked bootloader you can try this tutorial. I didnt't write the tutorial!: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-firmware-on-xperia-arc-and-arc-s/
Warning:You are responsible for what you do
How to use Flashtool:
1) Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000012 and download flashtool and install it
2) You need to download the .ftf firmware you want and then you put it in the firmware folder of flashtool
3) There's a folder "drivers". Inside the folder is a file named “flashtool.drivers.exe”. Open it and install the drivers for the arc.
4) Switch off your phone and open flashtool as administrator
5) Click on the Flash symbol and select Flashmode
6) Now select the firmware you copied
7) It will ask you to connect the arc. Plug in the USB cable to the PC. Then take your Arc and hold the back button and connect the USB cable to your Arc
8) Once you connected your phone it will start flashing automatically
9) When flashing is finished disconnect it and switch it on (This takes longer than usually)
How to use Wotanserver:
Attention: Wotanserver is no longer free and you have to pay 2€ to flash
1) Go to http://Wotanserver.com and create an account
2) Select the Arc/Arc S
3) Scroll to the bottom of the page and download both: the USB Flash Driver and Wotanclient
4) Install the USB Flash Driver
5) Open Wotanclient and follow the Instructions to connect the Arc
6) Phone settings: enable advanced settings and select the 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware
Rooting:
Requirements:
-Arc/Arc S (ooh)
-Coffee
1) Goto Settings -> Applications -> Development and check usb debugging
2) Goto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 and download the latest SuperOneClick. Attention: Avira AntiVir thinks its a virus so deactivate it before unzipping.
3) Connect your phone with the PC
4) Install the adb drivers (Windows 7 should install them itself)
5) Open SuperOneClick (run as Administrator) and click root
6) Wait and drink the coffee
7) You have a rooted Arc/Arc S and you can upgrade OTA (normal update with the phone) to .62
Finished
If it worked leave a comment here and click thanks.
Can it root .62 ?

which baseband ?? 42 ? 62 `? 69?

For the .62 you need to flash back to .42 with flashtool than you can use this methode
now I have .62..How I can flash back to .42?after that I must flash back it to .62 again?
I read you can downgrade using wotanserver.com
Install the generic .42 rom.
Then root
Then update to .62 over the air and keep root
But I haven't tried it yet... let me know if you have success.
You cant flash it back with a flashtool. If you do it, your root will be los. You need first generic rom with 42 baseband like generic europe or generic world. Than you need to root. Than update over the air. The same thing i posted in my thread.

The 0% battery bug happens when you downgrade from android 2.3.4 to a lower version, from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3. But FW 62 and 42 are both android 2.3.4, so there will be no problem.

Here is my review of the Xperia A
On the stock firmware you can root it using the DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit
If you have updated to 10.1.1.D.2.26 then the Easy Rooting toolkit doesn't work yet.
I was able to root 10.1.1.D.2.26 with the info found here on 2ch with the tool posted on comment 508.

Xperia A (SO-04E) {FW: 10.1.1.D.2.26}
Both work with Doomlord, once it is rooted you should use rootkeeper otherwise OTA will remove your root.
You can update using OTA using WiFi under settings -> about phone
Otherwise you can use the Sony Bridge Software to update your phone but it will delete root and there is not root for later versions of the software.
The latest version out now is 4.2.2 build 10.31.B.0.224

In your OP, the last query..you said that you'll lose root once you update your phone...it usually depends on the way how you updated your phone, i mean thru OTA or PCC? If thru PCC you will definitely lose root, in OTA there is a way to keep root though. Tried it on my SP and works flawlessly:good:

You kept crashing on sony logo coz doom's method to root will not work on .266 anymore because the system in .266 is android 4.3 and the kernel on .254 was of android 4.1.2 hence that kernel dint managed to boot up the system of .266 and kept crashing on sony logo.

Is unroot possible after rooting. Do we have to flash the original rom to unroot.
Edit: rooted my e7 32gb. VRoot shows unroot option after rooting.

Hello I just bought the Gionee S5.5 in India. Beautiful Phone. Will these steps work for that too? There's just too much bloatware on the device and out of 2 GB RAM, about 1.5 GB came pre-installed with bogus apps that no one needs.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Give IT A Try

Used VRoot and it rooted my phone.
2 Concerns:
1. Can we replace superuser (vroot one) with supersu?
2. Can we flash english CWM (CTR Recovery) directly using Recovery Tools? Can someone please share the img link for the same?
I can find only Chinese CWM .img file!
Thanks

1) Yes. You can replace vroot with supersu.
2) From the best of my knowledge, there is no English recovery available. We will have to wait until things move and we have the sources to kernel until we can build a custom recovery.
