So today a fan fell over onto my dresser where my Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Google IO was charging and cracked the lower right hand side of the screen. Has anyone else had their screen crack and fixed it or talked to Samsung about it? It seems to still be working, but still, the screen is cracked.
And this happens today, while my case is set to be delivered tomorrow. Damn it.
Try to blame it on this

Did you buy accidental damage warranty..worth the money than having to go through repairing and risking more damage. Hopefully you get it fixed

cracked and shattered samsung galaxy tab 10.1v screen
Hi all
My galaxy Tab 10.1v screen cracked I need to have this repaired i contacted Samsungand they refered me back to the shop I bought it in I but it at a departure lounge. Guys I need this fixed I need to DHL it to someone and i am ready to cover all costs please guys advice me on way forward.
Try this http://www.missionrepair.com/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10_1_s/688.htm
Could be expensive though as replacing the 7" GTab screen costs $180 (yeah I know.. might as well buy a new one or do it yourself). Don't see any digitizer part on ebay yet.

If you purchased it using a credit card many cards will cover accidental damage for 90 days. Check with your credit card company as there are limitations.

How much did they charge you for the screen? Did you replace it yourself? I broke mine today and am looking for a OEM replacement.

Sorry to hear that mate. Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9629791&postcount=23
I had the same thing happen. I spoke to Samsung, they told me to send it to an authourized repair centre. I did. They said the screen and the lcd were inseperable and it would cost $300 to replace. I said okay as my credit card insurance was paying for it. After waiting for a month for the replacement part, I told them to just ship it back. I purchased a gelaskin to cover the cracks (they are mostly on the bezel). Best $20 I ever spent. Good luck to you. If you do get it replaced for $65 please post where you sent it as I would be interested as well.
Get insurance from squaretrade its like 90 bucks for 3 years. Check the facebook page for discount code. You can get it up do 90 days of device purchase.
Hey, will Squaretrade still work if it is already broken? I have warranties with them for other things, but they were purchased new (as was my Tab) but now my tab's screen is totally cracked. Do they ask if its damaged?
Hi guys
Well i thought the gorilla glass would have been ok, but i was wrong. Dropped my phone bounced off my foot then hit the floor, not hard, but hard enough and in the right spot to crack the glass all the way across the screen. So im wondering where i can purchase replacement glass for my Vibrant? Any help would be awesome. thanks!
EDIT: just to be clear here, only the glass cracked, not the physical AMOLED screen

There are 2 places I have found that have
Globaldirect.com-- this is in the USA
Alibaba.com-- This site is a site where there are many vendors, it is safe to buy from here but it is in Hong Kong
ONE IMPORTANT POINT, some people on Ebay and other places claim they are selling you OEM, but often it is an LCD screen it works fine but not as good as amoled..... just keep that in mind........
The last one i bought was 85.00 with shipping but that was a while ago so i do not know what prices are right now.
Hope that helps if so say thanks

That's what I did.... it was $90 when I got mine, now it's $150. Dunno why.
I'm pretty sure I cracked my LCD but before I go on a man hunt I figured I'd check here first.
I tripped and rolled on my phone yesterday causing this to happen, when I turn on my Nexus you get a few colors but mostly the screen is black. The top glass is not broken.
I called HTC (my phone is still under warranty) and they said it'd be 155 bones to get it fixed.
Any idea where I can buy the LCD to fix this myself for cheaper?
I searched but couldn't find anything really.
this, this or this?
I have a broken one too, fell 2 floors down from stairs onto marble floor, though only amoled broke and i bought a new one for $100 cuz it was the only one who shipped to my country
Yep sounds like your LCD is broken. It's an easy enough fix if you wish to do it yourself, you should be able to get one on eBay for relatively cheap. I've actually got one spare that works perfectly if you want it. I'm based in the UK so it may be cheaper to get one on eBay if you're not around the same area.

I tried calling HTC as my phone is still under warranty for another month. They said it was a known issue and would most likely be fixed for free. So I decided to try that route. I'll keep ya'll posted.

It surprised me to, haha!
Supposedly they've had issues with people using their nexus and the LCD just breaking underneath the glass and that's what the rep said they would put in the ticket even though I had told them the real story.

Good stuff, sounds like you got a pretty decent rep to handle yours
I just had this same repair done by HTC. On the first information-gathering call to HTC, the rep told me I'd be without my phone for 2-3 weeks. So then I considered trying to repair it myself using an AMOLED screen from ebay, but saw they ship from China and didn't feel like waiting for that either.
In the end, HTC pointed out that they could ship me a replacement phone before I sent mine in. I received a working phone two days later, shipped mine and then approved the "repair" via a support website. Obviously, they then repair the damaged phone and dump it into the repair pool.
It cost $115 and I was very happy with the process.
Hope all goes well with the free repair!
So, I called in today to check the status. My nexus is on it's way back repaired and all...FREE OF CHARGE.

Congrats. HTC has been pretty great about service with the N1.
Dear all,
Thank you for all the stuff you are sharing right here, that's really great.
I 'm quite sad because a few days ago, my tab felt the glass is badly broken .
Hopefully, the LCD and the touch screen are ok.
Gorilla glass is not that unbeatable so take care of your tabs guys.
I'm searching for a replacement part but as we are kind of early adopters, it's really hard to find ( I tried Alibaba & eBay).
If anyone know where I can find a new replacement front glass for my galaxy tab I would really appreciate to have a link.
Thanks in advance

Samsung can't do anything if it is physical damage. It's in the manual. That's what insurance is for. Or, if you purchase with Amex, they will refund you after proper paper work.

Just a word of caution when changing covers. Do not press to hard on the screen when pushing the cover on. I know have a cracked screen and absolutely heart broken. So to that end, anyone suggest any good insurance companies in the UK?

Sorry to hear man. I would cry hard. Hope you find some help
From the giant: Galaxy Note
ah that's sad news sorry to hear that
I don't know if you are in the UK but if you are then many bank accounts give free insurance for phones, etc.that option might be there in other countries too.but you need the right type of bank account for that.my bank account gives me free travel insurance, break down cover for my car and phone insurance among other things.a lot cheaper than getting these separately.
Cracked screen
I dropped min today from 20cm height and first 5 minutes later it cracked in 2 pieces so I feel your pain. I checked what the spare part costs, and it was 285 euro's for the AMOLED+Glass apparently it is glued together so everything has to be replaced, and then you need to add the work costs. So it probably will be cheaper to buy a used one and sell yours for parts
Just broke my screen the other day. Getting out of my car, note was between me and car door. Didnt end well. 250 for lcd combo on ebay.
It reminds me of my first scratch on my vehicle, dont want to touch it.

No, this is wrong. Manufacturers lie about only way to replace glass+display. I broke the Galaxy S screen, and at samsung service they told me to replace everything, and that I have no chance to replace only screen. But I decided to try replace it by my self. I buy glass for Galaxy S on ebay for 9$. Then, using guitar pick I removed shards of glass. Then pasted on the sides of the glass with glue. And that's it! Fits perfectly. Works even better than before.
Yeah I need to upgrade current account to get it...don't have a problem doing it but was just unsure how long it will be before I can claim. But I also thought it might take longer to get it repaired than going for a mobile phone specialist insurer...also with the bank insurance..I know a while back my brother claimed and they didn't even ask for his old phone that was easily repaired!
Also just like to add...I really didn't apply that much pressure to the screen been, nursing this baby. So be careful. Wouldn't wish it on anyone to go through the pain I am.

Same happened to me but the screen didn't get one scratch. The only thing it got was two tiny marks on the frame.
Yes, i'm extremely lucky.

Getting and claiming phone insurance after your phone is broken is fraud!
Either insure your phone beforehand, or deal with the consequences of not doing so, but don't break the law, and put the premiums up for people who had more foresight than you!

I think also like you !!!
;-)
I would strongly suggest you did not claim for it after the event as this is a criminal offence.
You may however, wish to check if your household (contents) insurance covers such damage and/or if your credit card covers accidental damage if you used it.

You can go to most shops and get your Galaxy S fixed for 90-100 euro where they only switch the glass but with the Note you can't find anyone, only to replace the whole thing. I have an insurance but was not sure if I was going to use it because it is my 2 device in 1 year that went busted. But it is painful to be remembered every time I turn it on so I will find out what the costs is going to be and use my insurance. I guess not using the insurance when you have it is to commit fraud
