i'm trying to follow the steps that i've found on making a goldcard so I can root my mytouch 3g 1.2. however, everytime I try to install the ADB, it says a java develop kit is not installed, so it tells me to go to oracle.com and download the kit first. So i go there and download the 72mb file and install it, try to run the ADB program, and it keeps telling me that i need a JDK installed to run the program. I dunno wtf to do. been stuck for a while now any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!
you need this file; https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/[email protected]_Developer is it the one you're downloading?

I am in dire need of assistance.
My hero is running 1.1 fresh and trying to use prekitchen 0.2 after prekitchen 0.1 and 0.1b failed yesterday. My phone won't give me the option to MOUNT SD when I connect to my pc, though it does have option for HTC Sync.
Now my device wizard is showing problem for the "android device" and when I open it, it tells me it's missing the adb driver!?!?!
WTF? I have had zero problems until yesterday. I also tried to DL the update driver from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html but after extraction windows says there is no driver in the folder.
AHHH. I think I might break my Hero in half, or worse, my computer.
please help, anyone, please.
try re-downloading the SDK and running/installing it. That's where the drivers come from
Please try to not post the same thing in multiple places.
You are running windows 7. Download the driver from here and install it.

so im new to the android phone scene i have had blackberry for 5 years noe and decided to try out the new HTC Evo. but im sooo lost with thing, help!!! please
first off my phone is running the newest software 1.47.651.1
im trying to root the phone but to do so all instructions ive found require using adb. what is this adb? and what is adb shell?
when i plug my phone to my computer it says the adb is not set up and it ask for the driver disk, phone didnt come with this.
also im running vista 32 on my laptop if it makes a difference.
any help with getting this done or where to find info would be great!!
adb is apart of the android SDK package which is required for transfer from computer to phone. google "android SDK" and download + install
you need it in order to transfer the files required for rooting to your phone so i suggest reading the instructions so you know what your doing
Need SDK
Android SDK can be downloaded at the following address:
http://developer.android.com/sdk / index.html
Once downloaded extract the folder to one of the PATH for example E: \ android_sdk_windows
i have tried in win xp and 7.
how to install SDK

I m trying to install linda file manager.so I currently use android injector. The driver is installed and work properly with adb comand.android injector can see the device but it is unable to install any apps.it give me thise error message
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Linda.apk
Failure [-12] .my version is rc29.Have you any idea?
Did you turn on the install from unknown source?
And try putting the apk on your SD card and install from there.
Yes I did but I think I need a file manager to install from sdcard. How to get one?
Which ROM do you have again? Couldn't you just download it from the market? Just a little confused.
Hello everyone, I started the procedures to do the upgrade of the Rom, for now I did unlock with odin3 and now when I turn on the tablet is an open padlock. But now I can not go any further, I installed jdk and Android SDK, but the controls do not respond fastboot device is not working, adbwinapi missing.
The driver folder I put it, and I modified the inf file.
I would like to put the rom is the SEO ROM
Now?

I had the same trouble when i was trying to get root access, it ended up being that i was using the wrong drivers. I uninstalled all the drivers i had and started from scratch.
Use Ubuntu to get it work. Drivers under Windows are crap and I tried Xp, Seven 7 and all the possible drivers. Never worked until I installed Linux...

Sounds like either you're not in the correct directory with your CMD window, or you didn't extract the files properly. Try extracting them again to a folder on your c: then open a cmd window there. Nvflash is really a simple app. Also, make sure you are in apx mode. Should see a icon in windows task bar, or you can check device manager.
A little tip, do search for cmd.exe on your pc, and then copy it to the folder where you would like to use it. Much easier than cd (change directory) or any other way that I know short of adding it to your right click menu. I keep a copy of it on my desktop so I can copy/paste it anywhere that I need it.
Make sure you installed the Acer drivers. At first I didn't b/c I had working ADB. You need those Acer drivers for the APX driver in there. I wasted an hour or two on that one!

Connect tablet to pc, make sure you are in apx mode , open the folder V6-unlocked.......... and click on the .bat that you want to run. It should start , no need to open cmd on the folder .
I got stuck but in different way altogether.
if you don't mind going back to 3.2.1 for a few minutes then I suggest doing that. it also installed CWM to which you can install your chosen ROM.
then after this you could just use blackthunders apx tool to flash your chosen bootloader.
I know your problem is totally different to mine and looks like you are just not in the right directory while trying to use nvflash but the way I suggest was very easy and works.
I cant post links right now but if you look in the thread for unlocking bootloader then I posted a link which should help you do it this way. its on page 47.
hope u get it sorted I spent many hours yesterday always getting stuck at various points but after many hours found an easier way.
cheers

Sweet I'll try civatos way then if that doesn't work I'll give it a shot I'm still on honeycomb boot loader so why not ;-) thnx again for the help......how does black thunders tool work sorry for incompetence I thought I knew about tech :'( any help would be appreciated
its basically GUI program which installs a bootloader of your choice in a few clicks.
of course u dont need the ICS bootloader if you were to choose to install FLEXREAPER rom after going through my method.
just install it by the recovery menu after going back to 3.2.1.
cheers
EDIT: If your already on the honeycomb bootlaoder (just noticed) you should be able to do it pretty easy and civatos way will work fine
