CM7 Camera doesn't shoot in HD? - G2 and Desire Z General

I don't know if it's just me but whatever:
I rooted + installed CM7 on my Phone and I'm pretty happy about it. Everything runs smooth etc.
But I have one problem:
The camera...
I don't know why but it seems that camera app for CM7 is just pure crap
1.The shutter sound... oh my god...
2.The focus sound....
3.IMAGE QUALITY
I don't know why but it doesn't shoot in the full resolution. If I shoot a panorama photo I'll get black bars on the sides of my screen. That didn't happen with my normal sense camera.
So my question is, if I'm able to install my Sense camera on my CM7 phone, or if there is another camera that shoots in full resolution while supporting CM7...

Anybody?

Why is the Hero's camera so bad?

The camera is so incredibly bad that sometimes I actually carry around my Blackstone without a sim card just to use the camera because I don't want to use the Hero's camera. They're both 5 mp but I think the problem is that the Hero doesn't have a stabilizer so everything comes out blurrier, and it's impossible to take closeups. I've tried it with both the default camera app and Camera Magic and they are both terrible. Anyone know if there's a way to fix this or if it's just a useless camera?
Same Problem with me. I'm using Villian Rom 2.1. Camera is very blurry
The shutter speed on the Hero is quite slow so you have to be very steady when you press the trackball. And it will help a lot if you only press the trackball when the autofocus brackets are green, which means it's focused properly. A lot of people just press the trackball without waiting for the auto focus brackets to turn green and then blame the cam for taking blurry pics.
Personally I think the Hero cam is pretty decent, my shots are mostly sharp and in focus as I do take my time to take pics. Having said that, it's definitely useless for taking action shots or night shots.
It's only happenned on 2.1 Rom. The picture taken is full of yellow and bad quality compare to Magic, back to 1.5 is fine.
The biggest problem with the camera for me is the length of time it takes to capture a shot.
It's basically pointless trying to take a photo of anything that is moving at all.
I don't know if HTC generally have a problem making cameras work but my old TyTNII had the same problem.
Really I don't see the point of putting a camera in a phone if you're not going to make it work properly.
Things also look better if you change the metering mode to average.
I've found the Hero's camera to be ridiculously dark in comparison to even the Dream. It's just borderline unusable, IMO.
On my HTC Touch Pro 2, the camera was amazing, 3.2mp i think with flash, very clear picture. I was all excited to try the 5mp from the Hero, geesh it realllly suck

I think the same. It's as the white balance doesnt' work fine, isn't it?
Hi
they are worse! thats just one thing!
the resolution of the android photo capture is 2MP (1600x1200) instead of the real 5MP (2560x1920). ant the light exposure whith the LED's in the dark is sometimes to bright... (white-balance)
(on MDJ's ROM's not sure about the other ones..)
the video recording is pretty good in image way: WVGA (800x480), but the sound is [email protected]!
did some re-search, with VLC.
The audio.
codec: samr
samplespeed: 8000hz
bits per sample: 16 @ 128kb/s (windows says 13kb/s)
Tje video.
codec: mp4v
sample rate:15fps to 30fps (varies from light and dark environment)

afaik the current camera apps have real 5mp.
a foto taken by my cam shows a resolution of 2592*1944 thats ~5mp.
but the white-balance with led flash is really a problem
I've just taken some photos and when I saw it on the pc, it looked terrible. My SE W610i (2mpx) takes a lot better photos...
Photos
Yes there is no arguring. Android photos suck compared to those in WM! I have tried to take photos with wm and android at the same time...
I noticed some diference. Forcing widescreen photo's does'nt matchup with the widescreen photo's taken in windows mobile. But nonetheless, i dont care. I just want a working camera on Desire HD build!!!! And I can't find a clue how far the developing is
zoom
how do you zoom in with htc camera, never figured that out

yes indeed it says 5MP but when you put it on your pc you will see its not 5MP!
and 2592x1944 is wide screen 5MP and strictly seen not a true 5MP
please check the photo's on your pc!
if is is a real 5MP please thel me what ROM u are using
I've actually noticed BETTER quality in Android than in WM. I made a post about it a while ago, but can't be arsed to find it now. The white balance is actually more realistic under Android.

I'd have to agree, all my android pics look so much clearer and detailed compared to the same objects/scenerys under winmo
I agree... photos taken with winmo always turnout better for me. But I can't complain ... atleast we can take photos with android. Most andrid ports for winmo phones can't use camera at all. We have a very good port for our hd2s.... but its still a port.
Alot of people seem to expect android to work as well as a native android phone. Amazingly our android port does function better than a native android phone with a stock rom in some cases.... but when you mod, root and put custom roms on a native android phone with similar specs, it definitely outperforms our ported android.

[Q] Camera Grainy

Hey all,
I've had my N4 for a week now and a couple of days ago I gave the camera a go. I have to say that I'm not impressed at all. Most all pics came out grainy. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking of returning it. Now I don't use the camera a whole lot, but sometimes when a picture presents its self and I don't have my DSLR the cell camera is what I have. I would like the pics to look descent. I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S and with a 5MP camera and no LED flash it takes better pics than the N4. Is it the stock JB software for the camera and using another camera app would fix it?
Thanks,
Chevy

there will be grain in low-light but it's not too bad to my eyes.
if it bothers you, you could use flash; try another camera app, like camera zoom fx, that lets you control iso; or clean up the grain in post with noise-ninja or similar.
i never expect too much from phone cameras but they can produce decent results if you work within their limitations.
EDIT: i downloaded camera zoom fx yesterday and would highly recommend it over the stock camera app.

[Q] Camera issues?

Hi guys,
I have just got an GT-i9506 and I'm loving the size, speed and how smooth everything feels, compared to the S3 I had previously.
BUT I think I am having an issue with the camera.
I can take great photos, but the focus when close up or macro is horrible.
On my S3 if I got a little too close, I would hold the phone further back, focus on my subject, move a bit closer and focus again and so on until I was as close as I wanted to be and I was able to take the shot.
I can't seem to get this technique to work on this phone.
I find, even taking shots from a far (which the camera focuses fine with), when I zoom in after the photo is taken, the quality is horrible.
For once, heavily sharpening my images in post-production in apps like VSCO is actually helping!
Is anyone else seeing a drop in camera quality compared to older devices like the S3?
Any recommended settings in the stock camera, flashable fixes or apps people would recommend over the stock camera for this device?
Thanks

Gcam video recorder BETTER than samsung stock one!

I have discovered something shocking. If you use the stock camera 1080p on stock camera app, it feels like its 480p, and the 4k feels a bit more like 720p. Well i have discovered somethign weird. On any gcam when you press and hold the camera button when ur in photo mode, it takes a video. Well i have realised that the video it takes is differnt than if you took it with the video option and not the video option on the photo option. The one where you hold the shuter, the quality is MUCH MORE better over stock or anything. I dont really know how this works lol can someone pls explain. Im posting screenshots here.
The screenshots below are samsung 1080p vs gcam 720p. Gcam wins by a long shot. And if you put sammy to 4k gcam still wins at 720p somehow. Just amazing.
What gcam mod are you using? I've been looking for something that will work fine for the A70 for a while now.
