Hello xda. I'm looking for a photo application that is similar to the photo board app that can be found for ipad. Its a multi touch table format photo viewer with resizing and cool effects. Also I'm looking for a video player that supports .avi format videos. I know there are lots, but not all work very good. Arc media doesn't with very well and vplayer is buggy. Thanks!
P.s. any other graphically cool apps that use multitouch to take advantage of the large screen? (Multi pane web browsing?)

yes, yes, yes, i know every newbie gets told to search. i tried but this seems like a heck of a site with tonnes of posts.
In short could anyone kindly point me to a post or answer the que:
How do i get my videos to play on actual FULLSCREEN and not postage stamp fullscreen.
is there an option or is it small because of the limited processing power?
Cheers
Mark
If u wanna play them with the default WM player then upgrade to the AKU 3.2 version ROM or else try TCPMP player it's free and good enough for all ur multimedia player needs.
Thanks bud. i tried a few vids on the wmp player first and luckily one of them actually played on the FULLSCREEN. the vid had a much larger data transfer rate.
So is there any way to modify the files i have so that they have the same arrangement as this particular file.
Anyone had the same problem
Cheers
Mark
I'd really recommend installing TCPMP. The standard media player is pretty crappy (just like Windows Media Player, I guess). TCPMP is free and plays all videos in Fullscreen if you want. If also supports a lot more codecs than the standard player.
WMP that comes with the phone will not show a video to be any larger than it actually is. If a video is 64x64 pixels then it will occupy that much on the screen. It will however crush a 640x480 video to fit your 320x240 screen.
TCPMP WILL stretch videos to fill your screen. Get that!!
There is no way to edit the file like you suggested without making the file size much greater needlessly.
If I use the camera video capture function, it always plays in reduced size, even using the new ubeaut 3.2 ROMs. These ROMs have not fixed the full size video issue for videos captured in 320x240 using mp4 format.
Unless, of course, somebody can tell me where to look and the settings. I have been using AKU3.2 for a while both versions, and they do not play the video capture in full screen mode at all.
Maybe if I use AVI formats rather than MP4 might be an idea I havent tried. MP4 is a much more compressed format.
hey thanks for the help - cheers
guys, i just needed the reassurance that it was ok. i just downloaded it and as u say its a great full screen player - thanks again.

Click to collapse
U r right as avi will take much of ur memory so thats not practical to use.
Hi All,
Wonder if you can help - When I browse to youtube it defaults to the mobile view, which is fine - When I select the video I want to watch it opens up the stream in the "streaming media" application. It seems to buffer correctly but when playing back, the video quality is terrible, very jumpy, very blocky and the sound isnt too great either.
Is there anyway to solve this? I have tried installing the flash cab and viewing the videos normally on the youtube page, but it doesnt display the youtube vids. I have also tried to install the HTC youtube app, but it breaks my video playback - It works if I install the full htc hd manilla cab but then my phone really lags in file explorer when viewing the windows directories etc..
Is there something I am doing wrong?
Craig
Try CorePlayer, the quality is much better, but the app is not free.
Hey guys, I'm just wondering if there are ways to pinch to zoom on videos in players such as Vplayer or Rockplayer? I'm not talking about the default zoom functions in the player itself.. but something more customizeable?
not that i know of
but the built in zoomfunction of rockplayer is good enough i'd say (its the most left icon case u wonder where to look)
I was wondering if there is anyway to have thumbnails for videos show up in gallery. I've tried Metax to write the thumbnail into the metadata, but still no luck. I would like to use gallery to play my movies if this is possible since it plays all formats (that I've needed so far...) and has a clean interface. If not, does anyone know of an app that will accomplish this? I've tried RockPlayer as well, and don't particularly like the explorer interface, and have also had issues playing certain MP4s.
Hi everyone,
On any phone I have had to date, videos from the browser that I wanted to watch in full screen mode were played through a video player app. On the essential phone, they seem to be played within the browser still (tried chrome, Firefox, and others). The video quality is pretty poor this way and I was wondering if there was a no frills video player that could be configured Las the default app for watching full screen streaming videos from the browser, and how that would be configured.
I hope this makes sense. I was surprised to see no threads on this topic but I suppose the grainy video doesn't bother other people, or a solution has been found an I'm not using the right terminology.
Any guidance would be appreciated
Most any video player you had on those other phones would work with this one. I've not seen any issues with video playback but... "My legs are grey. My ears are gnarled. My eyes are old and bent."
I've downloaded several video player apps (mx player, vlc, sbs player, etc), but none of them will play the video in the browser unless I download it. On my Samsung s8, if I choose full screen on a video in chrome it will ask what video player I want to use, and I select Samsung video player to be the default. This doesn't happen on the essential phone.
When I download it, the quality is as poor as it is in the browser full screen mode. My guess on that is the resolution for the essential phone is being reported in metadat or something to chrome so it is downloading the video in the only encoding it can find that would support that dimension. That's a total guess, but it's the only thing I can think of that's very unique about the ph-1. Is there a way to disable the full screen mode or tell the browser that my display has different, more standard dimensions?
