Got another evo... - EVO 4G General

But it's not the 3d.
I got the evo view tablet instead. I was 1 of 2 people in the sprint store this morning who was there for the evo view and not the 3d. Honeycomb should be available for this tab by the end of this year but until then it runs plenty fast enough for what it would be used for. After playing with it for the past 5 hours I went to take a call on my evo and I literally said "Holy sh** my evo got smaller". I'm liking it and that's all that matters.

Nice! Root it and then Honeycomb it.
Is it really just like the iPad was to the iPhone? A bigger one that can't make phone calls (without skype)?

Yeah its just like an overgrown evo lol.....

It doesn't make calls but my tablet has its own number so I can send/receive sms/mms.
The s-off flyer (evo view without 4g) was modded to make phone calls from it. Unfortunately there is no root method for these tabs...yet.
I'm still playing with it and I'm thinking of turning my evo into a bare-bones phone (sms/mms/phone calls) and use my tab for everything else (e/gmail, facebook, movies, etc.).
I added a 32GB sdcard to it and total storage space is around 59GB (minus the space for android).
For me it's worth the money. For others they would probably say other tablets are better but the thing is this is what I want not what anybody else wants.

I'd get this if there were a hack to enable calls via bluetooth.
Swyped from my EVO

Knight Rider *Xperia X1 Spotted*

Did anyone else possibly in the US watch Knight Rider tonight? It was Ep 4; "A Hard Day's Knight." I swear I saw the Sony Xperia X1 in tonight's episode. (When you're a sucker for sexy, slick devices like me you're bound to notice these things more than the hot girls they have in the tv shows jk Don't worry, I noticed how hot Deanna Russo is too )

(But wth is up with the pic? I mean come on now, to an average person it looks like a text, but to us pros, we can all notice it's just the notepad. It should have at least been an sms >.> lazy people)
EDIT: I apparently missed the first episode to know it popped up in that episode too. But this looks sexier in a tv show.
that is actually extremely lazy
maybe they needed large text though, and couldnt work out how to make it large in mesages
great spot though
Belongs in the Xperia forum YOU NOOB
jk kraize, <3
its an x1 woo hoo
Yeah Damn, Kraze, I'm taking your Waffle Privileges.
But if i remove all posts no one will ever know about your Noob Mistake
I could also shut up and move it, even if it is a bit off topic it would still be more fun at the X1 Forum.

such a tease

VERRY NICE...hey, I've seen this a few times n have wondered..is the noPhones screen really that dull in comparison or is it that the backlights turned down or up on the EVO?
both where at the factory presets in that pic. the iphones just that dull. doenst seem like it on its own. The resolution on the screen is insane. The camera is pretty good, takes amazing macro shots.
yeahhhh buddy.
Cannnnnt wait
soooo...you gonna tell us the story?
I am like Pavlov's dog, drooling every time I see the EVO!
I think it's ironic that before touch screen phones got popular, every new phone was trying to show how much SMALLER it was than the competitor's. Now we're after the bigger screens and don't care that the phone has gotten bigger. I know I don't!
damnit I am so excited!
Looking at the Moment next to the EVO is like looking at a fat chick next to a super model.

Unless you're into fat chicks!
I agree, every phone that gets pictured next to the EVO ends up looking very awkward and dated.
Why did I have to see this?
First I have to wait 2.5 more weeks to get this amazing phone...
Second I have to get through all my finals and not get distracted....
Third I see this picture and want this phone more...
I am going through so much torture because of this phone...... ughhh

anyone care to enlighten me how the hell some people are getting 34megaflops on the EVO... am i doing something wrong... ?
I think it was pc magazine that did a mobile network data test recently and they found that here in raleigh Durham ATT's 3g was faster than Sprint's 4g.
The EVO has a much higher screen resolution than the Hero from what I know so that would explain Nanocore. The EVO's resources are being hogged by the HTC Crapware they have the need to install on every damn phone, so once we remove those and get to where the Nexus one is at(Google software only for the most part) then we can do an actual benchmark.

True I hope HTC sees this and gives us options to run their crap or bone stock aosp...
that neocore was unexpected... I guess the hero got a lot of life left in it after all...

I could not resist...

.. and i forced my wife to upgrade her phone and use the EVO
Here's the twins

Get outta here with that crap bahah.
Like someone (can't think of the name) said "It's Android all day in this *****"
Congrats on the twins... Prepare for the countless upcoming Qik/Fring calls.. lol
when i asked her what if i buy one for you and she said no, no and no... but when she got a hold of the phone, she started
Haha, me too, I signed up me and my girl with Sprint in February, but never used my subsidy pricing (I brought my own phones)...JUST so we could get the Evo when it dropped...
I think a lot of us have gotten twins... me and my wife included.
Ahh... thanks for the reminder. This phone seems bottomless. Time to qik it up with the missus with the other set of twins!
I'm about to make my GF jump ship from AT&T too. Plus Latitude updates FAR more on android vs WinMo(her current OS) .
Classick - you still around here with your APPLE tongue?

Dedicated WiFi Home Phone

Dedicated WiFi Home Phone
Can you believe people still pay for a home phone service? Well they do and they're getting ripped off. Phone companies will shamelessly sell your grandparents a dedicated home phone and charge up to $50 a month for the service! That is outrageous. The reason this still happens is because many people like to stick with what they're familiar with. Convincing someone to give up their landline can be more trouble than it's worth. Instead, I'm going to show you how to take an old Android phone or tablet and set it up as a landline replacement. This will cost you nothing since we are going to be using Google Voice via WiFi.
Step 1: Get a Retro Phone Handset
You can get either a Bluetooth handset or a regular corded option. If you are going to be setting this up for someone who is technically challenged, then just go with the corded phone. No need to add the complication of Bluetooth pairing to the mix.

Step 2: Setup Google Voice With Hangouts
Use this guide here to setup a Google voice account that can make and receive calls over WiFi.
Then just delete anything that is unneeded off of the phone. Set it somewhere that will be convenient for phonecalls and you're all set! You don't need a recent phone to do this. Any old android device will work.
You mean, use a phone as a phone?! Amazing.
