I was browsing ptcrb and i saw that the newest firmware for X8 is 2.1.1.A.0.53.
Is it out yet? What are the changes?
http://www.ptcrb.com/ctiastaff/complete/view_complete_request.cfm?modelid=17877
The thing is I'm using custom rom's but I miss having timescape. :-|
I don´t think there will be something new except baseband, maybe a few changes you won´t recognize, and it´s still Android 2.1....instead of making so much fake updates they should have rather made a 2.2 for X8, but maybe SE is too ****in´ lazy for doing it.
And if you want an SE theme, with SE framework, then search for it in "themes and apps"
by the way:
I would NEVER go back to 2.1, except in the case I have bricked my X8
Actually SE did a Very Good Job in 2.1, im pretty sure they mastered Eclair already hahaha

your reply is useless he was asking about 2.1.1.A.0.53, which is on PTCRB, not about the latest stock rom, that is out
Yeah, but I guess it's not out yet. If only there was a way to port timescape. That's what i miss the most.

To the best of my knowledge C is a higher version than A, therefore making a 2.1.1.C version a newest STABLE release, which was put through by SE. Thus it can be stated that 2.1.1.A.0.53 was a developement version never meant to be issued. So again - all the posts about that version and about superiority of custom ROMs are useless - there is no higher version from SE than 2.1.1.C, and if there will be it will certainly not have an A within is
In my device, just bought yesterday in italy 3G Italy, I've the 2.1.1.A.0.6 and when I try to update it with factory tool it say mine is already updated.
I don't understand because it not update to last 2.1.1.A.0.53 .
Have you a reply ?

I was wondering why its been so quite after HTC released the new kernel for the Sprint Hero, I thought that was the missing link that was needed for complete 1.6/2.0/2.1 roms?
It hasn't been quiet.
Also the kernel that HTC released needs to be ported to 2.6.29 to fully work with 1.6+.
All this info is on the forum & easily obtainable.

I just thought we would see some 1.6/2.0/2.1 releases now that the kernel was released, that's all
There's been 1.6+ releases for a while...
Let me elaborate a little here:
This kernel that was released is not a magic bullet, it allows us to see what code needs to be changed to get the correct Kernel to run these newer versions. It also lets us make any performance changes we can find.
All of the changes need to be put into the current kernel source, making it a .29 or whatever we need.
It has been fairly quite, we aren't seeing tons of Roms being thrown out to the market, thankfully. Our devs are taking all the time they need to make sure everything works and is stable. We should see some big stuff happen in the next week or so.

Hi all,
as you know today Google announced Android 2.3.
So, I'm just asking if someone on the forum plan to build some AOSP 2.3 custom rom
(I'd love to do this, but I really don't know how to... Jerpelea or zdzihu, some advice for noob ? )
EDIT : found this post, looks nice http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/26/ho...om-for-android-part-1-setting-up-the-kitchen/
I'm gonna give it a try
I think you might struggle to get past step 1..
I. Before You Begin
1. This ONLY works for HTC Android devices at the moment, later versions might support others (check here for an update when it does).

Not sure it should be a problem. The tutorial is a little start as you can't find any cool tutorial... especially x10
Except http://blog.coralic.nl/2010/01/21/how-to-create-a-custom-rom-for-hero-from-android-sources/
yea please developers .... the x10 will be AWESOME and i don't have to change it later.
Ok, I'm getting Android sources, I don't know at all if I'll be able to do something, that's worth a try anyway
@ zdzihu
As soon as we can confirm that Gingerbread works with 2.6.29 kernel, we will switch to the latest version. It's still +-10 days till official release of 2.3

working well with the recovery menu - i was able to wipe and then install the 2.3 ROM.
driver support is none existant (as Z said in his post on that thread) but you can at least have a look around and check it all out. Animations seem very smooth all things considered - hopefully 2.3 will not be far off for a real release for our beloved X10
btw - adb is active on the 2.3 ROM also, i was able to push a few apk's to it with no issue at all. Didnt try pulling anything, but assume it would work fine.
and yes, i was able to restore my 2.1 backup with no issues when i had finished playing
What!? Guy above me, Screenshots please or gtfo

dude, did you read Zdzihu's post at all? he has released a preview ROM in his other thread. you can load it using his recovery menu. as i said, i installed a few things via ADB (which included shootme for screens) but was unable to access the sdcard
want more proof? im not spamming, and Zdzihu is the X10 god, so he is telling truth too.
EDIT: am reflashing now, will get another camera to take shots....
screens as requested

Hi guys,
Here's Gingerbread 2.3 PREVIEW rom. It is not one of our roms - THIS IS SDK DUMP - SLOW AND WITHOUT ANY HARDWARE SUPPORT - hence we do not support it!
It is only for those who can't run 2.3 on emulator but still want to see Gingerbread in action. For me, it's just a proof of concept that it will work with 2.6.29 kernel.
Again, THIS IS NOT AN AOSP ROM RELEASE! It's just something to play with in a spare time
Installation: Boot into xRecovery -> install custom zip -> select X10-2.3-preview-signed.zip
Please do a full wipe before installation!

Here it is again folks ICS I9100XXKP2 by SamMobiles.
Wednesday we presented you with the first beta release today the second firmware for the Galaxy S II.
This rom still a CUSTOM build by Samsung and still with TW.
Samsung created this firmware on December 8 2011.
As you all may know we only offer stock ROMs so you will not find this firmware on our usual firmware page.
This rom is a bit faster but still with a lot of bugs.
HowTo flash.
ODIN + .PIT + PDA/CODE file.

Happy Flashing!
It is sad that Android moved to 4.0.3 and Samsung still could not get to 4.0.1 stable
This rom is just only faster, still buggy. Do not install it on your daily phone...
Gonna flash it this time and see how it is
Hope it can be useful to CM9, i don't care about Samsung's roms
i mean codeworkx said for a some days he has this firmware too and there can´t help to build our cm9

yea men ics make people crazy in there brain XD
I've only ever flashed 1 ICS beta and that was a few weeks ago,i love the look of it but personally im not gonna waste my time flashing any more beta / alpha builds until such time a stable ROM you can use every day is released, no point really when you know there are going to be bugs.

I know! Crazy - Timestamp people!
Anyways - glad to see it's getting out there (even though it's just a traffic generator - no other reason to spread them out) but glad to get them anyways! I know it's still "not so good" of a leak but still worth a shot
People's attitude around here is really starting to get on my nerves, it feels like everyone here are 12 years old.
Has any other big company released a stable ICS rom for their phones? No. As far as I know, the only other company that released anything is Sony Ericsson, and THEY only released a half working alpha build for developers only.
Everyone needs to go care about something else for a little while and stop acting like spoiled children.

Any news?
It seems that we are way out of luck with this phone, no updates from HTC and no custom roms, I think I will have to bite the bullet and go back to Samsung.
I have learned a good lesson though, never listen to people who's job it is to sign you up to a contract or sell a phone and definitely do your homework first,
my sorrow is that I am way way old enough to have already learned that lesson.
send your complaint to HTC support...If they'll receive more than just a few complaints, maybe they'll show interest in improving/ releasing updates for this model as well.
