The second accessory is a cradle that you can put upright on the table or lay it down horizontally and it also features the Sony Ericsson app. On the back side of the cradle there is an HDMI slot and when you connect it to your TV a respective app is launched. You can connect a wireless keyboard and a mouse (I used SE Play) to get a kind of a mini PC with a large screen. It is very convenient for web browsing, email and other apps and it also supports wireless gamepads for playing (during the demo they used a wireless PS3 gamepad). These accessories will be available in Q3 the prices have not yet been announced. I want to remind you that new SE stuff is more easily spotted in Sony stores.

That is AWESOME!
I can hook up my PS3 controller and play my games on the TV/Projector! Sweet!

+ 1. I hope it is not outrageously expensive, but I see myself buying it.

WOOT WOOT finally some a taste of hdmi for our play xD just hope they dont take too long to release it

I can’t wait to hook up my PS3 controllers and use my phone as a consol. It’s a consol you can take everywhere.

This is awesome now if they announce a dock with speakers I'll be in heaven.

Hes right tho, it lists all the other Sony Ericsson phones as being compatible except the Play. So I guess we will have to wait and see. Looks cool tho..

Unfortunately i think he mistook the Xperia Play for the Xperia Pro. Both are pretty much the same design but the pro's signature colour is silver and it has a slide out keyboard.
I think this is why Xperia Play has it's own multimedia dock.

Its surprising, the playstation phone sounds like it could be a real success for Sony. I'm still kinda weary about the device as they may decide to drop it half a year later like they did with the x10... Also we still dont know what the battery life is gonna be like...
Im more interested in the Arc and if I want to play games on the go, the PSP2.

LOL what? You use your xbox 360 for gaming on the go?
I use a PSP/PS3 combo.
it's a nice device, but the ARC is what I'm looking for...
I'm curious as what kind of games will be available on the Xperia PLAY

Then why are you replying to a thread about a portable gaming phone with a post talking about an xbox 360?
Replying about a phone pretending to be a gaming device, I don't know why people bother. Merely agreed that i was looking forward to arc over the playstation phone. Delete the posts if you want

But I couldn't take the PS3 to wherever I go...
I don't like to have a lot of gadgets in my pocket, so the PlayStation Phone sounds really interesting specially for gamers who likes to have all-in-one, just like me. It's a good idea to have a phone on wich you can play in a very comfortably way, with a specialized control.
Of course, if we demand powered graphics and speed, then the PSP (or its possible successor) would be the right portable gaming device. But again, the reasons why I never bought the PSP are its size and the fact that it doesn't have a camera or any keyboard...
Between this phone and Arc, I'd choose this.
Im waaaaaaay more interested in the Arc, plus i dont play games on my phone...i wait till i get home and play COD on xbox 360...oh yeah! Lol

Same here cept for the arc part. The xperia play and arc dont even have a dual processor.
SE is probably going to price these phones ridiculously high while they already are outdated before they even are released because it will take a looonngg time for it to be released.
If not, SE might actually have learned this time.

The price for the Arc seems to be 500£ Play.com has their preorder up for 460£ (i apologize in advance if I'm using the wrong pound symbol, it's nowhere on my keyboard! lol)
Just to compare, the X10 had a 600£ MSRP when it came out. I think that the Euro/Pound/Dollar were all about the same number (not value as 600£ != 600$).
Why buying Arc or PlayStation phone AND buying PSP2? Spending 500£ in the Arc and 450£ in the PSP2... Damn
Unless the guy whom does this is rich , otherwise I wouldn't understand that.
Be logic. One option would be keeping the X10 and buying PSP2 this year... At least that's what I'd do.

Mate, this is quite retarded
:unimpressed:
I believe the rumor was that some developer units had a HDMI port under the left tpuchpad.
So unless he has a developer unit, there is NOT an HDMI port on his Play.
I also recently took apart every inch of my play looking for a port, with no luck whatsoever.

It's a bare face lie. Just because something says it can do that doesn't mean it will work or be practical
I know for a fact it wont work because the Xperia play is to weak of a device to do it natively you would have to use software decoding and cause major lag not to mention huge battery drain
In the end if you want TV out. buy a Droid X. the best smart phone ever made
(probably the strongest made ever)
it's reminiscent of a IBM magnesium case laptop
you can drive over them with a car and they still function

You're both wrong
Thats not a WiFi to HDMI Dongle. Its a mini Roku box. It only streams stuff from the Internet over WiFi. Like Netflix and Hulu, etc.
And Hogwarts, a long post about how another phone is better and to just use that is just about as useless as tits on a bull. If we wanted another phone we would have gotten one, but we like this phone because it has a game pad. We don't care about the Droid X or any other phone.

I think it defeats the purpose of being a mobile gaming phone if it is attached to a TV.
Droid x isnt better becuase it doesnt have a gamepad.

that is not the play.
I am working on a semi official way as tablet s has it officially. Am trying to port it but will be useless on play. But on arc hope to get it fully working including pairing controllers with otg. We do how ever think in Sony's scheme they will be making ps3 pads compatable officially with any PlayStation certified device to promote sales of both pads and games but that's in the future.

Why would it be useless on the PLAY? I've already had some coworkers who wanted to play some 2p games on my phone. Yes, we'd both have to use BT controllers because it would be on the dock stand.

Xperia play 2 aka vita phone

This is another much better concept idea which I found on the web the only problem was that they said it would have the aspect ratio changed but it was said to feature a tegra 3 as well as mini analogs like the vita

Remember that this is a fan concept art, it's not an official work or design from Sony.
I couldn`t imagine this ever becoming a reality, the simple issue of how the phone would slide up and down with those analogue sticks sticking out is enough of a problem.
That is so not even close to what reality would be, if an Xperia Play 2 even ever happens.
I don't know why people keep insisting on posting these xperia play 2 forms on here. Every time ones posted it receives nothing but the same replies as the other xperia play 2 forms. STOP POSTING THESE!!!!! We know the rumors, were all big fans of Sony's gaming products! Unless some news pops up with ACTUAL photos of a prereleased model we don't care. I thought you guys would of learned from the release of this phone, I know I did. The rumors for this phone started about 2 years before the release. So by my count you still have a year and a half till this phone comes out and that's if it actually does. So for the sake of the form and to save your a#$ from being chewed out don't post unless its GOOD NEWS!

They should wait a year and a half and throw a 2.5ghz prosessor in that badboy haha

If I recall properly, while the device sales weren't tremendous, this device managed to bring out a niche of gamers who actually buy games. It would make sense for them to hold off the release until they can't milk the Xperia Play's gaming side any longer, particularly if they're making money with Xperia Play Optimized licensed games as I suppose they are.
They sold a total of less than 1000 games the psx ones and the optimised did much better but still not great they need better and more games and pssuite as promised what we all want is console quality games on our plays like gta 3 they should really port the successful ps 1 and 2 games like god of war prince of persia silent hill etc they would make MUCH better sales and everyone would be happy
