Does anyone know what gives the best smoothest performance?
Gingerblur, greyblur or the new Bell update OTA?

GingerBread 2.3.4 NOW

I ran a full benchmark with quadrant and it came in at 512 which from what I can tell I'd pretty slow.
I killed most of my apps before running I do have a live bg and a good amount widgets. I also went crazy installing apps so I am sure all of this contributed.
Is that normal and how can I figure out what is killing my speed?

What rom....what kernel?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Stock 2.1
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Then thats why. Unless you use a 2.2 rom, you will not experience quadrant scores in the1000+.
I reccomend switching to 2.2. Its fast. You will get rather good quadrant and linpack.

Isnt that still pretty slow for 2.1? Is there a program to tell me which of my programs is hogging my CPUs?

No its normal.
Quadrant should be in the low 500's
Linpack should be 4-6

Ahh ok well I was planning on holding out for the official OTA because from what I have read the leaked roms have some bugs...

I like Android System Info by ElectricSheep free on the market. There are others that are good too...

I am using the leak right now, and most bugs are fixed with the rmk patch
Also, theres always skyraider 1.9b and cm6...which only have one bug-the camcorder doesnt work.
And if you are rooted and plan to stay with 2.1 use hydra kernels (which dont work with 2.2)

What about skyraider 2.0?

Is this new update gingerbread?
Should I update?
Pro's & con's?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
It's not Gingerbread. Fixes a few things under the hood and gives some new crapware in Madden. No real reason not to update that I'm aware of.
so far i havent heard a real good reason to update....
not doing it = avoiding hassle.
I got the prompt for install this morning I'm rooted in successfully installed but will z4 still work now?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I meant I un-rooted THEN got the update.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

Yep.. had to do 2x but am good now, thanks.

OK so I am running stock gingerbread rom and my gps. On Mapquest freezes everyone. I go. To. Load never had. Issu. On 2.2.2 any fix?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
For what it's worth, my GPS on stock Gingerbread was not as good as it was on 2.2 until I flashed the new radio. That made all the difference. Check your baseband and see if you have. .15 or. 30.

I had gotten the refreshed update for my EVO that upgraded me to Android 2.3.6 and, even though it's A LOT snappier and faster than before, I was wondering if there was a method to rooting it

It works but if you can't follow instructions because there are A LOT or don't understand them then I don't suggest doing it. I've seen these instructions on Android centrals forums, phandroid and other Android sites.
