Hy everyone,
after i change rom to cyanogenmod7 my battery life is very bad. Here is what i did...
Rooted, installed CM7, battery was bad, restarted battery stats (i red it somwhere on this forum that whan changing rom battery stats have to be restarted), before that restart battery was, well not good as in stock froyo, but average... after that it is terrible. In just 6 and half houers when i was sleeping it was drained 33%, and after i wake up and use phone, in just 15min it loose 10%. When i looke at 'what use my batteru' cell standby is 45%!! Thats not normal, right? How to fix this isue?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
have you try to reset the battery stat?
It looks like you reset battery stats when you weren't on full battery.
Only reset when calibrating battery, and your battery is full.
Sent from my SPH-D700
It was full, than disconected from charger, than restarted battery stats, after that drained completly and charged to 100%.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Might have had a bad flash then, unless your battery is still setting in, give it a few cycles and it should start to give you better battery life
Sent from my SPH-D700
And don't keep the minimum cpu frequency value to high. Because the phone doesnt need a huge frequency in standby mode. That also matters.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
CPU is set by default... also i need to say that its charging extremly fast (i can see progress while im typing this post, 4%).

Then yeah you need to charge your phone while on to 100%, turn it off till its complete again, the reset batery stats and use it till it dies and it should be good.

Ok, ill try that now. Hope it will help!

Got the same problem . Yesterday I went to sleep around 12:00 with 49% battery left and in the morning around 09:00 just 6% was left. I will try above tip

I recalibrate it again... now its lil bit better when im not using phone and wifi/data are disabled. But, when im using wifi it still sucks!:\ For now i will stay at CM7 cause i like it very much, but im thinking about geting back to my old FroYo.

I also recalibrated the battery and reverted back to stock froyo rom (with overclock kernel and I removed a bunch of system apps). Battery seems to last a lot longer now
Another solution would be a 3000mAh battery i saw somewhere.. phone gets a little bit thicker, but its perhaps worth it?

I will try that. What kernel did u use for that? And how did u remove system apps?
But must say, 23h 18m since of the charger and battery is 41% with some wifi/data, 12-30 sms and few cals. Still not good as FroYo, but not so bad as before recalibration.
For the first few runs after new ROM and batstatts try to have some full cycles

infinity mc4 kernel. you can remove system apps with Titanium backup (button backup/restore -> select app -> un-install). Look out that u don't remove apps that are active used by the ROM. I have deleted like 30 apps + widgets.
yesterday same time, like in my post above, from 99% to 97% with wifi/data on. So much better!!

What SetCPU values do you use?
I have the same battery draining problem since I flashed WildPuzzleRom and I think of going back to stock ROM...
Over the last month or so ive tried various roms nightly's etc and the most i got out of the battery was around 15 hours with the batt stats fix, froyo on the other hand different almost 36 hours at the best and worst still around 18.
Just found my old one dead

My battery life is strange. Once it can handle 6 days without charge(i put it charging at 15%) using wifi, alot of dialing. Second time it handle only two days without using it. Last time it handled 4 days with same dialing and wifi.
I am using Cyanogenmod 7, Smartass governor, min cpu=245mhz, max 710mhz.

Try 2 things toggle airplane and kill all process. Use spare parts to look at partial wake lock that will be a general process of what is not letting the phone sleep.

If this guys phone has the HIV, i'm [email protected]#$ed!
I'm losing 10% in 10 minutes! Absolutely ridiculous. I'm on EC05. Auto brightness off. Brightness to the lowest setting. Stock, rooted, removed some bloatware but left DRM stuff.
This is after pulling it off the charger from 100% and a fresh reboot. I just toggled airplane so my TWS was at 21% when I took these screenshots.
EDIT: I've already calibrated my battery after updating from EB13 to EC05 and wiped batt stats.
I dont know about 10% every 10min..but I also noticed battery usage skyrocket in 1.1.0 from 1.0.2..and I didnt even install any software yet or customized anything..its effectively clean rom....
what stands out is standby....im at:
standby: 51%
display: 34%
phone idle: 15%
and I havent even touched the phone at all :/ (you can see that by the huge idle amount)
It used to be like 90% display before...and everything else was under 10%.I even turned off Google Syncing.

I've had sleep issues ever since DK28. The phone will randomly stop sleeping, and will barely last 12 hours on battery with *zero* usage. Sometimes a reboot will fix it for a few hours, then it will just randomly stop sleeping again. I tried everything to fix it, flashed EC05 three times, twice by going back to DI18 with odin and flashing update.zip, and once by flashing the pre-rooted tar from android-central. Didn't even install any apps or anything after the last flash and left pretty much everything stock, still does it. When it's not sleeping, spare parts usually shows a running time of over 70%, even if I've got the phone sitting in my pocket or on my desk all day. There's nothing under partial wake that shows any kind of significant usage. It'll be "awake" for 8 hours, but there's no evidence in spare parts as to what's eating up those 8 hours.
Tried killing DRM service, toggling airplane mode, leaving phone IN airplane mode, wifi/gps/bluetooth disabled, rebooting, clearing dalvik cache, wiping data, and probably some other things I can't remember off the top of my head. The last thing I tried was pulling the battery for 5 or 10 minutes. Oddly enough, it's been trouble-free since then. Probably just a coincidence and it'll stop sleeping any minute now.
I have had the same problem. I think the problem is under sensor usage. The android system is using it a lot of the time.

I was actually just looking at that and see sensor going 5%-10% cpu usage..
This has happened to me a few times since upgrading to SRF 1.1.0.
The phone will get really hot and burn through my battery at an alarming rate.
What I usually do is shut down, pull the battery, and let everything cool and then all goes back to working normally.
Very strange, but at least there's a relatively easy temporary fix.
Recalibrated the accelometer..lets see if that helps..
Are you using the new Telenav GPS app? It downloaded 6 Gigs of data in 5 days on my phone, draining battery like a boss.
nah i only use google nav and i havent needed to use it in a few weeks
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Well, after driving for around an hour my phone's battery dropped from a ~30% charge to dead.
Luckily I seem to have been spared the data corruption I often hear about with non-journaled ROMs and power cuts like that (seems to be the only glitch I never get).
Something strange is going on, almost as though the phone is constantly running a benchmark (since it gets rather warm, as well).
Hi, i stumbled across something.
Normally my fully charged X8 lasts about a day (I charge it every night)
I was at this friends house and forgot my charger, so i borrowed his HTC charger. This resulted in a battery that lasted twice as long! I tried it a few times and there is a real difference between the 2 chargers.
actually I've lost my charger and always charging with htc charger(my brother's) so anyway charging every night.. and htc charger can't charge battery till 2400 mah

My battery life s*cks. I have to calibrate the battery and do some improvements (like use "Battery Doctor to save battery" app)
I think the charger doesn't make difference because the battery as a limit, and the charger charges the phone to that limit =D xD watch out, don't use chargers with different voltage and amperage, if you use one with more than the stock charger you probably will burn out your battery xD
I using GingerDx v010 and i have to charge it every day...2 times!!!But i think i use it a little too much!

Getting a bit fed with battery and thought I would see if anyone has any brainwaves on here, or whether my usage sounds about right.
I've been a bit stupid this morning and actually USED my phone. Been on battery for 38m. In car for 20mins with bluetooth connected, quick 2 min phone call. about half a dozen texts sent and facebook status updated with friendstream.
display = 54%
bluetooth = 11%
voice = 8%
wifi = 5% - although not connecting
android sys = 5%
dialer = 5%
android os = 3%
Idle = 3%
MessageCS = 2%
handscent SMS = 2%
Calendar 2%
Battery currently sat on 78% and regretting not bringing charger with me.
My missus Desire S in comparison, noticed last weekend on Saturday she was on 95% left. Asked when she last charged it and apparently it was Thursday!!! I lose 5% in 5mins if I try and do anything. She can sit there all night playing solitaire and use hardly any battery, mine would be dead if I tried the same.
So frustrating. Great phone just such bad bad battery unless just something on mine.
You can search in the DHD developpemnt thread there is some tips to get great battery
Would that be rooted though?
Yeah You Have To Root Your Phone
I rooted my phone, installed LeeDroid HD V5.1.1, still i just got 8 hours on the battery till it dropped to 10% .. i had an always ON EDGE connection with a few calls. Any suggestions?
You Should calibrate Your battery
install current widget from Market and battery calibration
once installed put on a screen the current widget and charge your phone and wait till the widget shows U 0ma then open battery calibration and calibrate your phone then unplug. try it the if the problem stills the same tell me
Just had quick look and I see there are 2 battery calibration apps, one by Nema and one by Professionals.
Which one are you suggesting?
the one for Nema
ah installed and says has to be rooted
Please charge your battery to 100%, boot your device in ClockworkMod Recovery and go to Advanced ---> Wipe Battery Stats.
ok does this mean needs to be rooted again?

Just be careful, follow the instruction as explained in threads... I have done it a few times... They even say flashing is risky but that can't stop me, doing it in every 2-3 days.
Or you can go for AOSP ROM...
Pull the battery after shutting off the phone and then go do something else for a minute or two, put the battery back in.
I'd also advise getting better battery stats to check for partial wakelocks.

I gotta put it on the charger before I go to bed so I can start fresh tomorrow.
Battery life varies GREATY with usage; a good indicator of usage would be your on-screen time.
What is your on-screen time?
Also we have another similar thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517524
Why did you create a new one ...?
There is another thread like this one with real usage battery life...
That being said, I agree that this combo has awesome battery life. I'm using it myself. I froze a few pre-installed apps, and turned auto sync off, and my phone seriously dropped 1% overnight with wifi on. That's pretty amazing. I don't have deep idol on, stock voltages, and 200/1200 with interactiveX.

Could you tell us what apps you froze?
Does it really help saving more power?
Thanks.

I don't have my phone on me right now, so I'll post what I froze in a minute. Freezing apps stops them from using up RAM and CPU time. In turn that saves battery. It doesn't save as much as turning off the auto sync though.
my phone was 1 day and 15 hrs without a charger but this rom have bugs like home buttom not working screen close (need to be like old tv) etc etc....
I turned off auto sync and backup but my battery still drains pretty fast even when on 2G all the time.
I've frozen Maps and Talk but that doesn't seem to help.
I noticed that my phone awake time is high enough when the screen off although it can go to deep sleep normally.
I also noticed that Google Services has high % of battery use.
Any idea of what I'm doing wrong?
I'm sure that I have turned off auto sync.
But this Google Services still drains my battery.

How exactly do you "freeze" an app?

What phone do you have? I have a 4g, so it's on CDMA. I know that the auto sync takes up more power on CDMA networks then it does on GSM. Do you have GPS on? What about your NFC? Those both take up battery.

There's an app on the market called titanium backup. You can "freeze" apps so they aren't running and don't show up anywhere. It stops them from running in the background.
I have an i9023, the GSM one.
Yes I've turned off almost all that my phone doesn't even deserve a title of smartphone.
Clean install of ROM is done already.

You have to freeze apps like Google + Google wallet ( stuff you never use) just make sure the system does not need it or you'll run into issues. Also use a task killer but disable auto kill and only kill when u need too.

Task killers are a waste of space. When will people learn how to exit apps properly and know that the android system handles its memory just fine on its own?
