FYI Hulu app works on Incredible with CM7 - Droid Incredible General

I swear I saw you guys talking about this somewhere, maybe it was in the Hulu thread or CM7 Nightlies thread, anywho: The Official Hulu app for android works on the HTC Droid Incredible running CM7 (or at least the latest CM7 Nightlys)
Just remember to "Revert" the Adfree data in the Adfree app, its really just a 1 click thing, or else Hulu will tell you you have a buffer problem.
Download the Hulu apk here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136634
I'm not sure if it will work on other roms because I am a CMfanboy, so if it does; Please feel free to post

[Q] Hulu on epic with froyo?

Anyway we can get hulu working with the froyo build?
i searched the other forums and found a modded flash.apk for nexus one that allows them to use for hulu, but i installed it and followed the about:debug instructions and the browser does not detect that flash player for some reason.
the thread from which i got the working apk and instructions is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688054
i also tried the evo hex edited flash player, i think the two might be the exact same, but that one has same prob as well.
Didnt Hulu block out mobile phones for now? There will be a Hulu app coming soon for $9.99.

Well, yea. The point I think the OP is trying to make is that it would be cool to bypass their blocking and get Hulu for free like it should be instead of paying 10 dollars a month and still have video riddled with ads.

Its actually a hex-edited flash.apk. I've tried everything I could to get it to install on the Epic with 2.2. Couldn't get it to install. This is due to 1 of 2 problems:
1) Flash Player for the Evo is device specific (one of the errors hinted to this)
2) Can't entirely remove previous Flash Player
Solution:
We Hex-edit our own Flash Player to get it to work. This is beyond my expertise. If someone wants to give it a try, we need it to be hex-edited so that websites think we are using flash for windows.
Having trouble with this still... seems like there is a problem with the remount script for this ROM. Doesn't seem to properly remount /system/. I can't seem to make edits.
Hulu on the epic
Hulu on the epic. I got it figured out for the most part. One file needs to be reapplied after every reboot, but it is working solidly. Below is the thread link I started.

someone figured it out... and it works.

It should be in a rom tomorrow. Thanks to nc2nc2.

Netflix for Droid 2

So yea, netflix just came out for a couple of htc phones and me being awesome tried the apk from my gf's Dinc...it worked!
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
you got it to actually stream? On 2.2?
i got it to install but it says Device Not Supported on startup and again when trying to actually stream.
it does show up on my activated devices list on Netflix.com but says
Android Device(Obsolete)
Could we trick the app to think it is another device?
Engadget claims they got it working on Droid X running Gingerbread. I'm running GB on my Droid 2 was hoping it would work. Blah.
droid-life reports some people on Droid x that are on gb leak .588 and .595 having it work. and some Droid 2 gb leak saying got it working.
ive seen mixed results so not sure how truthful people are being.
im not going through the hassle of flashing gb and then restoring apps just to test this so i guess im still waiting for either a workaround app or official release.
maybe the key is finding what files in GB let the app work and copy them over into system folder through root? no idea.
installed on my 2.2 (liberty rom) droid 2. nothing goes wrong, you can do everything in it, but right when you begin to start the stream the popup comes up telling me its an unsupported device.
works on my droid 2 running Liberty GB v0.4
I get the unsupported device message as well once I try to stream a movie. Running Zombie 1.6 with gingerbread.
Here is teh pic that I took, unfortunately I played with it some more and streaming didn't work but I can login and add stuff to instant queue.
Confirmed working with streaming on the zombie gb 1.65
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Running 1.65 it is NOT working. Loads program lets you pick movie then says unsupported device.

Weird, cause it streams on my 1.65, did you wipe data after you install 1.65? Can't see the vid in the picture, but its there.

Yeah I always wipe data and cache because I usually get the bootloop after flash.
If we can figure out what it checks to determine the device, should be able to change that if rooted.
Just tried CM7 on my nook color and it doesn't work as well.
Check it...

For those that don't believe that Netflix is working on Droid 2 here is a vid I uploaded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JY0u_8ofUo
Just Installed the 2 Netflix mods. I don't get an error per se, but just when the movie is about to start, it goes back to the movie list. The same issue happens for both modded versions of Netflix.
Phone Model: Droid 2
Rom: Fission_2.5.7_BE
Version:
Additional Mods: Installed both
---netflix-devicecheck-disabled.apk and
---netflix-mod-2.apk
Clearly they need to fix some lags here
Love netflix on my d2! Works great with some managable bugs

I was using the versionapp that doesnt check the device. Was working fine for me until the app says today it requires an update. It looks in the market and can't find the upadate.
Lame.

Netflix

Watch out when using the Netflix update if rooted runing gb...keep the old version (or make a backup) I believe its 1.2.0. They seemed to have blocked access to gb roms on our Inc. Just fyi. Made the mistake already luckily I had a backup.
Running cm nightly #90
Update:
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/26/netflix-removes-device-check-should-work-on-all-android-devices/
Seems Netflix is trying to be nice. Wonder why its hit or miss?
I'm using CM 7.03 and just upgraded Netflix (1.2.1) and have no problems using it, movies still play, everything works as normal.
Well ..me and so far plenty other on droidlife are reporting unusable after update.
I'm using nightly 90

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/2...ice-check-should-work-on-all-android-devices/
And then this happens.hmmmm wonder what's going on.
I'm using the last stable cm7 and it still works.
Nightly 88 (I think), updated version working.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I know Netflix doesn't work with the new GingerSense ROMs, and the Droidlife article talks mostly about it not working on the Thunderbolt which I believe has the new Sense 3.0 on it, maybe thats the problem not Gingerbread.
Everything running fine for me on CM nightly also. The update actually relaxes the device check it didn't clamp it down further. Maybe uninstalling and clear data before reinstalling, permission fix if rooted, etc, might fix it for those with issues.
EDIT: Well, unless you're running a gingersense that is... I tried again last night with no luck still.
I'm running liberation v2 and I can load nexflix and view my recently watched and instant queue but wont load videos. It keeps on force closing. Its definitely not a sense 3.0 problem.

Yup, it seems every version of Gingersense is getting the same results for some reason. I was hoping the new update would change that but no luck.
Can't even install it from the market.. says insufficient storage
I was having issues with the new update where it seamed like the app wasn't loading correctly or even at all at point, aka just showing a blank white screen, but it turns out that it just took an incredibly long time to load.
DINC with CM7
Thanks first to XDA developers and alot of hardworking people.
I have downloaded from this site about a dozen different versions of the netflix app, including several versions posted after 6/21. None of them seem to work on the incredible 2 I own. I can get the app to install, I can log in to Netflix, I can select a movie, I can start it, but, all I get is audio and a white screen for video.
I have scanned through several forums and I see this is not an unusual problem, and the only possible solutions I have been able to understand seem to involve cracking the phones operating system and going in and messing around with various files and user supplied patches. Reluctant to go into the deep water without a lifeguard and phone still under warranty. Does anyone have a link to an APK that has been tested on the incredible 2 and found to be satisfactory? Thanks for all replies. If I found something will post here.
I'm running CM7.0.3 stable and Netflix 1.2.2 and it's working fine.

[Q] Hulu on Darkside MIUI 2.3.5a

Does anyone know how to get Hulu to show up in the Market and play videos? Every other rom I've used works perfectly, but for some reason it won't work on MIUI. I've heard it may be because of the ad-blocking software in MIUI. Is this true?

HULU for TF101 and Prime

HULU just announced that they now support both the TF101 and the prime. So you can now download the the App directly from Google Play. The Interface is much improved over the converted Xoom version we were lucky to have
Was excited until I installed it and got the message:
Required DRM not supported [93]
Your device does not seem to have support for the required DRM engine.
Please check that you have all the latest updates applied to your device and try again.
I am on AOKP 1.5 (haven't upgraded to 1.6 or 1.7 as it is so stable now).
Edited to fix typo
Trouble with new HULU App
Going back to the modified Xoom apk?
Never worked right for me (previously on Krakd 1.5.2), wouldn't show the list, just a big white area where the shows should be.
I am wondering if it is detecting root and not allowing it. Might have to see if any other tablets are having the same issue (the ones that were added today) and if anyone has resolved it.
Possible that AOKP isn't including that portion due to its very nature.
Read on another thread that it works on rooted stock. Hopefully one of our awesome developers can hack the app like the last one, or find the necessary libs from the stock ROM.
On EOS nightly-14, DRM not supported.. although the set up looks very nice, and just browsing around seems very smooth!

I should have noted, that I'm presently NOT rooted. Lost it on the ICS update, and haven't touched anything waiting for the re-boot cure. HULU app works fantastic!

wow, must have been one of the lucky ones. running on rooted stock, and everything seems to be going well.
i've actually just started my hulu plus trial today. I'm trying to watch some naruto episodes (don't judge me) and the app doesn't seem to display any subtitiles (it's an anime, in japanese) ... is this just how the app works, or am i missing a setting?

Are we talking about regular Hulu or Hulu Plus? Hulu Plus has been supported all along IIRC. I've been waiting for support for a regular Hulu app.
Post the apk please.

I think the DRM issue has to deal with the adblock that is put in place by the ROM makers. I just switched from Revolver to AOKP and Hulu now no longer works. With Revolver's Spare Parts you can disable adblock. When it was enabled Hulu didn't work, when it was disabled...it did...Now that I am on AOKP adblock comes standard and there is no way to disable it in the settings. While I know enough to follow directions with scripting I don't know how to go about disabling adblock via script on my own, or if it is even possible. I pour over these forums all the time, but never had an opportunity to post anything since all of my would be posts would take place in the developer section. And since there is a 10 post minimum to post there I just continue reading until I find my answer. This situation is to new to have found a workaround for, and I thought I would come out of my shell and post about it. Any help or research into this subject would be fantastically appreciated and I look forward to posting on here time and time again!

I don't think the Ad Block is the primary issue. Revolver is based on the Asus firmware, right? The roms having problems are AOSP based. I'm running Team EOS at the moment (no ad blocking) and I still can't view in the Plus app. I think it has to do with missing libraries that the "supported" tablets have. Hopefully all it takes is someone more knowledgeable than I to pull them out (this is how we can get Polaris to work on AOSP roms).
Now if you go ahead and block ads, this will prevent viewing as well. Just as it does with the cracked version of Hulu Plus (old app).

Heya. Disabling most ad blocks are quite easy. Just open up a terminal using a Terminal Emulator and run the following commands:
su
rm /etc/hosts
echo "127.0.0.1 localhost" >> /etc/hosts
exit
exit
You have to reboot your tablet after doing this (to flush the DNS cache), but ads will be enabled then. If you want to re-enable adblock, I suggest grabbing AdAway from the Google Play Store, which will make enabling/disabling ads easier in the future.

Yeah I think you are correct, I thought about that after I posted it. That makes more sense than just adblocking.
Does anyone know where this required DRM stuff sits? Is it married into Adobe Flash, and we're missing a certain Flash version?
