So having realized how to get into USB host mode I thought it might prove useful if we had a list of working USB accessories on the Vega.
I have only managed to get USB memory sticks working with so far, I was hoping an old USB gamepad I had would work but no joy.
Please add any you have working.

I understand that there is a hardware mod that allows you to use other usb devices on the droid-x.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726210
The phone on that thread is the Moto Milestone, will the exact same mod work for the Droid-X?
Also, do I have to write any new drivers for it recognize the mouse or is the linux "absolute mouse" drivers already part of the OS?
thanks in adv!
bump to see if anyone has tried this on the droid-x, don't want to cut up a couple cables and know that it doesn't work
last bump before cutting up the wires and verifying myself
This requires USB host mode - does the DX have that?
I tried it last night and follow the instructions to the T but it doesn't work. Booted of the micro usb, removed it right when the moto logo disappears and when I plug in a usb mouse, nothing happens. I don't see the mouse being powered at all ...
Any suggestions or thoughts?
Not sure if there has been a similar thread about this previously but I found it interesting today when I decided to plug my wireless USB Mouse and Keyboard into my Xoom using a USB Host cable and it worked! No hacking or modding needed what so ever!
This thing may just completely replace my poor Mac Book Pro.
It's supposed to just work like that.
I'm looking for the new instructions for this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105497
I can't find any of the downloads as the links lead to a 404 Error. Which means cant be found. So does anyone have these files still?
Nook Color Tweaks has a host mode toggle.
Pretty much any of the newish Roms will have USB host mode. I don't know about the webcam part (and don't have the right usb adapter to test it.

Thanks will try this, I installed the app, so should I just enable USB HOST MODE, then use this piece USB 2.0 A Female to Micro-B Male Adapter to connect my usb keyboard in? and it should process it? sorry noob here
If you are going to be able to get it to work at all you will likely need a powered hub as well.....
So I bought one of those cheap (sub $1) OTG adapters from Amazon, and up until today it worked. I was able to import photos from my digital camera and use a USB mouse. Today I can't get it to work at all. Not the mouse, not the camera, not anything else.
Regular USB (charging and PTP mode, I would have tested MTP as well, but it's not compatable with my laptop) works fine. I'm able to transfer files to and from the tablet, and it charges fine.
Is something wrong with the OTG cable or my tablet? Will I have to buy a new OTG cable to test?
If its only <$1 just get another one or two! Sounds like a cable problem if everything else is working
Christmas is coming, I see the shadows of Ebeneezer Scrooge !!
Are you using stick mount to load the OTG onto the N10? If so thats probably why. When i first installed my stickmount it worked but wouldn't see any of the files on the USB drive. Now after i've unlocked and rooted the device it won't even show the usb drive attached. I switched to Nexus media importer and it works fine, but i believe stickmount is having issues with 4.2.
However if the OTG cables did cost you less than a buck replacing them may be the solution too.
Does anyone care to look into a patch or addition to the software or kernel to allow usb host support? I think that the hardware supports usb host, but the software removes compatibility because when I plug in a Playstation 3 controller it the 4 lights on the front flash, and it charges, but nothing happens on the the phone as well as when I plug in a usb flash drive or the otg cable itself the message for USB host mode does not pop up.. I have looked for a sulution for this but couldn't find one. Any help, or an answer to what this means would be great!
Thanks
By the way, this is a rooted 306sh
never mind, i got it working
