This is the first time this phone has acted up. I am running RG 2.1 with the kernel that was packaged with it. I was running Ck's newest kernel. I reflashed the phone that's why I'm running the packaged one. I am also using the newest radio and have been since it was released. The md5 matched. I have the bad emmc also. Could that be the problem? My signal just came back, so I jumped on here to see if anyone had any ideas why it's acting up. By the way RG is slick and fast as hell.

You might want to check out one of the other Radios, the one that works for us, might not be the same one that works for you.
True. Thanks for the help. I will give it a whirl. This is my first htc phone. My old one was a captivate and this phone smacks that phone around. Once again thanks. I'll post on here with the results.

no problem. just hope nothing goes south since you have a known bad eMMC chip.
I flashed the stock radio and I am still having the problem. When the signal goes out and I search for a network it comes up with an error. Right now I have full signal. This is driving me nuts. One minute its good next its nonexistent.

Have you tried it on another ROM? I had issues with bluetooth on CM6.1.2 (since i was using snap7.6 w/turbo) but I also had it recently with another ROM that I can't remember. It was a different issue but either way, it didn't work.
Works with AvaZ3 and Mik4.5 though.

Anyone willing to test a rom I've made? I've been using it all day, but I want some more feedback before I release it.
As always, Neither I nor anyone else is responsible if you damage your device in any way by using this rom. Thanks.
This was built from CM source last night. So it's based off of 2.3.3. almost all the CM stuff still there with some modifications. Calling it KangedIT, since I did indeed kang it, and none of this is my original work. All I did was build from source and made some small adjustments.
Removed:
Cyanbread and Adrodian Themes
ADW Launcher
DSP Manager
Added:
Swype
Launcher2
Pershoot's Kernel
Boot animation from ryaninc
Other small stuff I don't remember
Credit where credit is due obviously. I'll give proper thanks when it's posted in development

I'm always down to flash something new and bugtest.. What's your rom based off of
*I'm just sayin...
OP updated with info and link. Please give feedback. I think GPS isn't working, but please test for sure and let me know. Thanks.
All ways willing to give something a try.
Downloading now but the testing will have to wait untill the morning. the wife is moaning at me to come to bed, got to take her to work in the morning so need be up in about 5 hours.

Just a warning, I don't know if you can just put swype in. Its missing from all the roms on xda for a reason... :/
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
Doesn't it have swype stock? I thought so, and if that's the case it can in fact be included in the rom.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Swype is only currently only for the g2... so it would be fine for g2 users to download it but I dont know about disire Z
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Okay I will test your rom right now and will give my feedback after a days use.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Exactly... its part of the T-Mobile rom. T-Mobile has licenced swype, while you have not.

Does it even happen on stock?
I am using royalginger and loving it except for 2-5 minute data dropout every hour or so. Using built-in kernal and S=Off.
I know folks are working on this and will figure it out soon but I wonder if there is a rom I can move to in the meantime that doesn't suffer from this, for me, quite crippling problem.
I appreciate any/all suggestions. Thanks.
Any sense rom shouldn't have that problem. So as long as it sense Rom should be no data drops haven't had one yet. On any sense rom.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Yep. Anything sense doesn't have that issue. Its an AOSP issue. I believe faux is looking into the issue for his next aosp rom.
Until then.. you will be fine with sense roms.

just flash royal ginger 2.0, great rom, although i'm having an issue where my signal flips constantly between 3G and 4G, i actually was running with cygenmod 7 for a few days and was having the same issue so i thought iw ould try a different rom, and same issue. I've flashed all three different radios and have same luck. if i revert back to the stock rom, i have a solid 4G all the time. any suggestions?

When using CM or any derivitives of (maybe even AOSP) you will be connected to 3G most of the time until you download or need to use 4G then it will automaticlly switch.
With the stock rom it does not differentiate (visually) between 3G and 4G so even though you think you are on 4G all the time you might not actually be.

thanks must for the info, the only issue I have with it in the end, is a few times, the 3G/4G indicator will turn grey/white and will have no data, or it will just randomly timeout when on a certain page or in the andorid market thoughts on that? drives me nuts

Is this why you have posted at least 15-20 times today in different threads with pretty much off topic useless comments? Trying to get your post count up since your account was created yesterday? I for one would never flash a Rom from some one that isnt or hasnt been a part of this community for some time. I also saw this post from you (only a hour ago) that makes me wonder....you are building Roms yet had to have help rooting a phone that is really very simple to root. This of coarse is just my two cents, and of coarse everyone is able to do what ever they want.

While you are new, I'll try that as soon as other people have given a thumbs up to it. but PLEASE try and make the gps consistent. That alone is why I'm sticking with the stock rom - any rom with good wireless data and fully functional GPS is a winner. ESPECIALLY if it's AOSP.
I saw this on a thread a while back... dial *#*#4636#*#* and then choose the first option (like phone info or something) then scroll down to where it says wcdma preferred and tap it and switch it to wcdma only and reboot and you'll be on 4g way more than before. I was having the same 3g 4g mess before I found info. Wish I could.thank the original post but I don't remember who it was. I also know that trick works on other android phones as well.

guys...this is a known issue between Google's servers, T-Mobiles APNs, and Gingerbread (though I have read many reports of the same or similar from Froyo users on various devices)
there is no "fix" at the moment.

all vanilla android (aosp) ROMs seem to have this reputation. the people who do see this usually don't have this happen all the time but seems to come in spurts and then be ok for a while.
but one thing that does NOT help the situation is jumping around flashing one new ROM / kernel / radio after another over and over in short periods of time. ..feel free to do this if you're really itching to but just don't clog up all the corresponding threads with questions or comments about your battery life, reception, data speeds, etc .... JUST EXPECT inconsistencies if you're currently indulging your flash crack addiction.
it comes with the territory.
and I'm not trying to say don't try other setups out. but if you are really on a 'quest' to find the configuration (ROM/kernel/radio/etc) that works best for YOU - do yourself a favor and give each setup 3 - 4 days AT LEAST .. ideally a week +
not only for the ROM to have a chance to settle in and show you some kind of consistency but to give your worn out phone and battery a rest!
your glacier will be a much happier little block of ice this way, believe me
happy flashing

Let me know how it works.
Just downloaded and installed it. Got everything up and running no problem I have been using AOSP so this is a big change for me but it is very fast for a Sense ROM. I have not had time yet to check on battery life but WiFi calling is working as well as the front camera (two big things for me). Rosie settings lets you change the right dock bar key map so that was nice. Flash works and I will update if I find anything not working. Oh and can't go by Quadrant scores you will never get a high score with Sense just too much eye candy keeping the phone busy but the ROM is very smooth.
