Why UpToDate (medical program) does not work in most of custom ROMS

Dear Friends,
UpToDate is the medical textbook program. Inside there are a lot of files in HTM and JAR format. ( http://www.uptodate.com/home/index.html )
Most of custom ROMs out there do not let this program work. Only ship ROMS and Onkolog ROMs do.
I am not sure that it is about different opera and java program or not
Please guide me the way.

In response to why UpToDate doesn't work in most ROMS, it is because Opera is the default browser. UpToDate works with pocket internet explorer only it seems. You have to make Pocket IE the default browser. This solved my problem with UpToDate. Hope this helps. There should be a cab file around. I believe it is called Fix IE or something like that, unfortunately I am unable to locate the link right now.

Unfornately, with the new IE6 thats has been added to the new custom ROMS, uptodate wont work, still looking for a fix to that, maybe the new version coming up, UpToDate 17.1 will work with the new IE..... if anybody has solved this problme, please contact me!!! thanks.

Thank u my friends, I try Fix IE to Maryone and Laurentius and Dutty' s ROM . It does not work. It may as doctorcete explained to us.

it is because some module is lacking from IE OEM
replace in your kitchen with these

I have the same problem with energyrom 2.0.

Uptodate requires windows 5.0 or 6.0 according to their sites. I don't know why it wouldn't install on anything above it. It works fine on 6.0. On 6.1, however, I don't get errors but I can't read topics when I select them ... nothing is displayed.

I have the same problem too and would love someone to make a fix in a .cab format so we can just install it before installing UpToDate and it works. Or maybe explain us how to include that module in IE without cooking a new ROM?

I tested Dutty's 2.1 ROM on my HD and UpToDate 16.3 worked fine. above that: it won't work.

I am also trying to run UpToDate in my Elf with Onyx 5.0 Beta WM6.5 ROM, but no luck yet. Can anyone post the easier solution beside cooking rom

Personally, I don't use custom ROM as I don't to mess up uptodate.
Fix IE works as the Opera would no longer be launched if I tab on the table of contents. But there would be occas. crash.........................According to Uptodate, they have never tried uptodate on HTC machine and they only recommended not to use opera as default.
IE fix really helps a lot, near 95% OK in daily function.

i had absolutely no crashes at all with 16.3 version with ie fix and the new stock official ROM and i want that with the new custom roms with the new manilla and all the new features but i can not afford not to have a fully working pocketpc UpToDate.. also trying out 17.1 version seems pretty much as it was with the previous version as in no crashes - till now - .. and on a side note i havent tried IE Fix but i am doing something that does the same thing exactly in making ie is the default explorer by installing any version of opera to the storage card and then uninstalling it.

I personally Haven't used UpToDate. can someone please tell me from where to download cab / installation for WM devices? (I couldn't find it on their website.
Well ,as far as this problem is concerned, IMHO , why don't you all report this problem to Dutty (or any other cook) himself ? I guess they can guide you better than anyone else??

you cant use this or add this in others people rom
so there still be the limit that this or that rom cant use uptodate
2 fix IE in case that you has manila in your device
you must install this after install opera or after flash your romo

Hello!I`m a user of HTC S740 (ROSE) and i want to coock a new ROM for this device but need some help because I`m new in such stuff.So far I managed to extract the XIP and SYS from emulator image for WM6.5 provided by Microsoft,what I need now it`s to disassemble the ROM image of Excalibur ROM coocked by ookba and extract the additional tweaks and software that he used in his ROM but the problem is that I do know how..
After this I want to coock a new ROM using the SDK of the WM6.5.3 and add the extracted tweaks and software to the image but another problem is that ROSE uses bought portrait and landscape and the image is only portrait?How to add also the landscape to the image?So if its somewhere there that knows and could help me do this..I would quite appreciate this

yes at the moment you should download oskitchen from zero. pick one of the latest ger roms extract it let oskitchen pick the .nbh file and try to cook yur own. you can wait a bit also. may be i have one in some days. at the moment i do one for a friend. we will see if its working and how because i dont own a hd mini so i have to do it blind only depending on his testing

I don't have any i-Mate ROMs, but would be willing to search if I know more about what you need. I bet the following information might help others want to help you...
Could you list the model name or number of your i-Mate?
Are you trying to downgrade to 2003 or 2002? With or without phone? What language ROM?
Any chance you know the ROM version number that you want?

LOL - I see that is a hard to find ROM... HTC Worldwide doesn't even list the Himalaya on their Support page anymore. Other resources I checked don't have it in repository either.
One quick fix may be to Download the install package for Transcriber direct from M$. It is listed for WM 2002, but may work under WM 5.

Lots of ROMs in multiple languages to choose from...
Some of the links might still be good... Maybe an Upgrade instead of a Downgrade??? Especially since WM 2003 is next to be phased out of support by M$.
P.S.: I'll still poke around looking for the WM 2003 a bit... Post back if either option above solves your problem so I don't keep searching needlessly.

There's a little problem
I'm having difficulty changing the operator in the WM2003 nbk and radio files..it says that i have to use command prompt and enter the words in the instructions so i entered them and it says that it doesn't recognize the syntax...How do you really change the operator ID of the ROM? Please elaborate the steps..if you can.Thanks

manila on WM6.1 TP2. How ?

Other thing, sorry if there was a post about it, but I did lot of search, couldn't find it...
So, I'm runnig on WM6.1 on Touch pro 2 with htc stock french rom (actually the fastest rom for me...). It's the rom wich has the official memory fixe(the informations are just in case...)
I want to have manila 2.5 (or even 2.1, but can't find it in WVGA as cab file).
I found every cab on : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746086 (in the bottom of the first post)
The problem is, if I install the 2.5 manila cab, every thing works (of course with the "IsWM6.5" value change) except for one most important thing...
Menus, text, everything which could be relatted (I think) with language isn't shown correctly. It displays me something like IDS_MENU_BLABLABLA .
How can I solve it ?
If you can tell me were to find a cab for sense 2.1 in WVGA it would be great too
I'm using a mac, so I can't make my own rom (for having sense+wm6.1 without htc messaging).
