Thanks for the awesome support Vibrant community! - Vibrant General

I've officially handed my Vibrant down to my wife, and in the process I had to ODIN back to stock. HOLY SH!T nuggets, how in gods name did I forget how laggy and slow the stock rom was? And just as I began cursing the phone, I realized just how kick ass all of our devs for this phone have been. I mean just downloading software updates made the phone unusable, and navigating between screens and menu's seemed to be taxing the phone. How could the worlds largest electronics company build such a great device, yet a turd at the same time? I mean this thing is/was like a ferrari with a Mazda5 engine. (I own a Mazda 5, and lets just say it could be peppier). Then out of nowhere our devs showed up and saved the day.
When I got this phone, I had just came off of a G1 (day 1 owner and proud of it) and after having so many issues with flashing roms on that phone I swore I would try to hold off as long as I could before rooting this phone. How was it that I only lasted 2 hours before I ended up rooting the device?
For the one or two of you out there who haven't yet flashed a non-stock rom, grow some balls and get on with it already. You'll be amazed at just how fast your little device can run.
That's it, thanks guys. I'll still be here as I'm going to re-root and flash CM7 back onto it once the mute issue is 100% taken care of. Now onto my new HTC toys. Sammy left a bad taste in my mouth twice already, #neveragain.

The new cm7 nightly seemed to have fixed the mute issue for me (or supervibe7)
Anyways good bye have fun with your phone.

Thanks, If that's the case then I may give it a shot tonight. The 2.2 roms are quick, but they can't compare to the GB roms.

Yeah I agree, but the only thing lacking now is battery life and gps.

for some the battery life is great and for some its not!

your welcome

Agreed, the Vibrant Dev Community is awesome!
As for the mute/unmute issue, I still have it with #34. Guess its just hit or miss...

Flash-aholic Anonymous tread

So I decided to start this tread for all of us that are addicted to flashing Roms thanks to Eugene, Master, Heathens, and specially Team Whiskey.
I got my first taste of a Froyo Rom back in October and I've been hooked like a crack addict! Lol!
Although I've never tried crack I can only image how they feel!
I check in with my XDA app more than I do my girlfriend, waiting and hoping for that new Rom to flash just to get that fresh Rom high! Lol!
Any themes that come up I flash just because I have a need to flash something.
Team Whiskey has the best stuff so anything new from them I just gotta have. I can only imagine what I'm going to do when they have Gingerbread for my phone!
They say the first steps to recovery is to admit you have a problem and to identify the source!
My name is Victor and I'm a flash -aholic thanks to my Vibrant and all the developers at XDA.
So the rest of you guys just like me admit your addiction so you can feel better and we can all work on our problem together!

Hi, my name is Paul and I too am a flashaholic. I'm so glad that someone had the courage to help us all try to get on the road to recovery. My addiction has caused me to lose time, dignity and self esteem. I am ashamed of my repetitive behaviors and always wanting to seek a new high. I have sought after fantasy speeds and lagfix numbing for years now and I want to stop but I can't!!!!! Hopefully I will now have the motivation to do so by knowing that other XDA brothers and sisters are having the same struggles. Thank you all!!!!!
BTW, just flashed M10 RC1, nice...can't wait for the next update
Paul just want to let you know that we are all here for you, together we can get through this! Lol!
How's Rc1 compared to Nero 4, I've been waiting for them to make it more stable!

I know that M9 was the fastest ROM that I have ever used on the Vibrant. Not knocking TW or Eugene, but that **** is so snappy, even before voodoo.
So M10 should only be faster.

Its more addicting than sex
In the past four days I have flashed nero 4, 4.1. M9,M10, pepperkake, and modded and morphed all of them fully.
Running nero 4.1 + DoW now, and I'm thinking about modding gingerclone and M10 beta 4 with dragon and DoW kernals.
Nero+DoW *vibrant*
I'm Glensta - Newcomer flash-a-holic. Since the vibrant came out, I've bricked a total of 6 vibrants. I returned 4 to 1 store, telling them "I don't know what happened?" Then that store refused anymore returns, so I found a different store that'd take back my 5th vibrant.....Finally, my 6th vibrant came from t-mobile cust. svc with some routine questions being asked by the rep. Now I'm good at "download" mode finally.
I did use one of my family member's upgrade (hell - they said they won't use it - so why not) and bought me a little cheapie phone just in case I brick again.
Flashing's fun w/ friends
Hi, my name's Steven, and I've been a flash-a-holic for about a year, when I first met that green robot Andy. Currently I'm waiting for a fix for the FFC so I can mod my phone even more. (Pretty sure I'll be the only one in my city with a FFC on my Vibrant 3G[It's like Samsung's copying the Apple what with releasing the Vibrant 4G, so mine's the 3G])
I do flash back and forth thou, I have like three different rom in sd card and I do it during my aviation class time! Not addicted though just fun hehe

I'm not sure what I am. I flash my own phone. Don't get enough of it so I talk people at my work to let me flash their phones. Then as I am doing support for phones and applications on the phone, I am encouraged to flash and learn more stuff....

I like it a lot. Unfortunately my sole criteria in evaluating a ROM anymore is how long it takes until I get my first random shutdown. I'm now into the end of a second full day and knock on wood, it has not turned off yet. The speed, with Voodoo, is comparable or faster than Axura. The one 2.2 incarnation series I have never used is Nero, for whatever reasons, not sure? The aesthetics are fine for me. I know the thread has said there's an issue with the "Ambient Launcher" which I do not use anyway, so, it's great in my opinion. I'm not sure I read anything about any other issues. RC2 apparently is now out, but I am staying put on the "it ain't broken" theory. I may not even try 2.3 when it comes out. I'm hoping to be cured from the addiction by then (yeah, right).
Ever since i figured out how to break into my perfected SPL mytouch3g, I can't help but check the various forums for just another ROM to try. I now have a haxsung vibrant as my main with my mytouch 3g(super-F) in my coat pocket just for such an emergency..
This rom has turned into my favorite. I've got a backup of v3, and this. Seems to be all I need but I do enjoy seein the other versions and how they compare.

Thanks to XDA, I'm in love with my phone

This is my first post here, but I've been lurking pretty regularly for about a week now. I was actually shown these forums by some folks over in the Penny Arcade forums Android thread.
I just want to drop a quick line and say thanks to everyone over here; The developers, the people who answer questions, thanks to the mods who keep the place going. Thanks to you guys I was able to go from being a relative Android noob to having a completely rooted, custom ROM flashed, and extremely sexy Epic.
Sometimes people only post when they have an issue, or when something goes wrong, and I wanted to buck the trend a little and post just to say thank you. As the thread title says, thanks to XDA, I'm in love with my phone
(For those curious, the technical stuff:
Samsung Epic 4G
Nebula ROM 1.0.6 w/ EXT4 (Froyo/DK28)
ADW Launcher
Quadrant is scoring around a ~1450, which is 400 points more than any RFS setup I tried...go go EXT4).
Yeah xda is a great place and we should all be thankful for the developers on here. They sure as hell don't do this to make money. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have these great features we have now. We would also be stuck on 2.1
Sent from my Evo Killer!!!
So happy as well!
I would also like to chime in and thank the XDA community as well. After months of debating whether or not I should update to DK28 Froyo, I decided to take the plunge yesterday. After you have all the software downloaded, phone hooked up to your computer, and Odin ready to flash for you... everything makes sense.
I can kinda see why Samsung/Sprint is taking too long to have the update come out. To update everything including all of your apps, settings, contacts, and saved messages all for Ma and Pa Epic 4G user without calling Sprint and complaining why something got deleted... I can see why. Re-configuring my contacts was a pain in my ass last night! My GPS didn't work, so I also had to do the GPS trick by entering in ##74 whatever and entering in my MSL, but it worked!
However, after all is said and done... THIS PHONE ROCKS!!! It's faster, the new music player is BADASS, everything WORKS, and I'm very happy. Thanks, XDA!
Ditto,
This has been a source of bountious information.
Couldn't have said it better myself <3
Epic is as Epic does
Same as OP. Thanks XDA for really putting in the time and effort to bring the community such awesome work. Like the OP I am running Nebula 1.0.6 with ETX4 and ADW Launcher.
hey guys long time lurker and first time poster, want to chime in that i also appreciate all the epic lovin from the devs, only bricked one phone so far but that was my own dumb fault.... skipped a step and flashed the wrong thing first earlie in the ext4 roll out...
Thanks again
Glad to see so many others have had the same experience as me

Agree.
I've lurked on XDA for a long time, didn't end up joining until sometime last year just so I could download some wallpaper or something.
Well I had no issues with my Epic anyway, but gave in to temptation and loaded the DK28 leak 2-3 days after it surfaced... kind of liked it but it was a little buggy on mine. I eventually went full tilt and loaded Bonsai at 1.1.2, had a blast with it getting the best of 2.2 without a lot of the bugs of DK28.
A week or so ago I switched to TrulyEpic, and holy cow, I love my phone so much now. It may not have the impressive bench #s of Bonsai (close), but man is it ever stable. It's like a rock, that thing is the best thing to ever happen to my phone, and I am so glad XDA and it's members are here to provide stuff like this for us. Apart from official froyo, I'm good for the long run now and getting way more enjoyment out of my phone than I thought I could.
It's nice to hear some positive posts on the Epic 4G forums
Anyways, it's nice to see someone that's happy with the ROMs we are quite fortunate to have here. Leaks of any kind are a privilege, not a right, and I wish more people would be grateful.

Omg @Rockstar thats funny, I was just about to type that **** down but you beat me to the punch. There has been so much negativity in this forum, that alot of times I think we forget how good we actually have it. Alot of us then revert to taking everyone on here for granted. Sure were not the biggest forum, we dont have the most Roms, but the devs we do have are dedicated and do a wonderful job. We should all be gracious whether they ask for donations or not, because regardless they are all making XDA a better place, and making smartphones in general fun for all of us for years past, and years to come!
+1 for this post.
Recently I flashed back to di18. I wasn't having any luck with the froyo rims. Gps didn't work, slow auto rotate, and lags and hangs hit me with no matter what rom I flashed. Now that the devs have rolled ext4 conversion and rooting into flashing clockwork I loaded midnight and my phone is amazing. No hangs, gps locks within seconds, the.fix for auto rotate... I can honestly say screw the official update. I for one don't need it anymore. Thank you xda

And when ya'll get to Gingerbread, beer's on me.
Stock DK28 rooted

HTC Evo Shift Vs Samsung Epic 4G *ROOTED*

So I'm positive everyone see's this question all the time. But they always judge it on the stock phones. Well I'm looking to get one of these phones, but to ROOT them. Which one do you believe I should get and why? I'm also looking into battery life even though buying an extended battery isn't a problem. Also which rom do you think is best for your pick? Thanks in advance.
Will be posting in both sides to get more answers
Easy answer... look at the topics and responsees in both forums and decide which group you would rather deal with...
And then look at the rom and root options of both. HTC is on a whole nother level.

This. And I own an Epic (my wife has the shift). I'd never trade my Epic in for anything, at least at this point, but yeah the Epic forum is full of complainers, trolls, and guys with tiny wangs (or so I assume with how they have to constantly act like king s**t in the forums all of the time). And shift has a ton more devs, plus working cm7. But the phone itself is sweet, and faster (in my opinion, with the right rom), and has an independent number row. And the screen is bigger and looks nicer. I could go on and on about differences, but I've gotta run for now.

From everything I've heard, the CPU in the shift has the edge on the Epic, but the GPU in the Epic edges out the Shift. If battery life is important to you, I say hands down go with the Shift. I easily get a full day every day and my friend with an epic is always asking people for chargers, even changed all his backgrounds to black to save battery (doesn't save on LCD but on LED it does). He does everything he can and still struggles for a full day out of the thing. Now I speak from what he's told me, I've never owned an Epic myself. Overall I've been thrilled with the shift, does everything I ask of it with no lag and no complaints.

I certainly had this issue on stock rom on the Epic. I couldn't even make it through a work shift without the battery dying. But custom roms on the Epic blow that out of the water. I now can go a whole day of moderate usage and still have around 30-40%. But I don't know, I'm guessing with a custom rom the Shift still kicks the Epic's ass battery-wise. My wife is running CM7 (which the Epic may not see for a looong time), and I don't ever see her reaching for a charger or complaining of the battery. And being of the female variety, she tends to use a lot of the live wallpapers, widgets, etc...

The Shift now comes stock with Gingerbread from Sprint. There is no way to root it. You are SOL. I pulled all of my hair out when I figured this out.
Turns out Android (maybe not "Android", but the current ecosystem) sucks hard. Suckers like you and I come online and see threads and guides about rooting that simply won't ever work on our devices because they've been manufacturer updated. And sites like this don't seem to give a damn -- at least update the root "guide", mods.
Quite worthless. Don't fall for this BS. The Shift is again unrootable, just like almost all updated phones from Sprint. Chances are, with the devs having moved on or got lucky enough to have an old version of Android when they got theirs, all new ones will remain unrootable forever. #@(*$

You need to take a breather my friend. The stock 2.3 will get rooted in time, just like the 2.2 did. "Unrootable forever" is just an ignorant statement. If all you're gonna do is rant and rave a bunch of misinformation, please keep the post to yourself.
Back on topic...
I have a shift and purchased the Epic for my wife.
The Epic display is nicer, and the epic actually feels lighter (and is?) Than my shift. It also has more keys on the keyboard.
However, on stock ROMs my shift seems faster and has better battery life. UI's are a very personal preference, but I much prefer the HTC sense and overall software stack vs Samsung's touchwiz. It just seems to work better.
I've beeen running custom ROMs on my shift and most of them work well. About ready to try a custom ROM on the Epic to see if it works better...

As for rooting gingersense, it will happen soon enough, just give the devs here some time.
My wife has the Epic and I have the Shift 4G. I can't stand her phone, and she can't stand mine. Tho we both take our phone's off the charger in the morning and when we drive home, mine still is in the green where she has to use the car charger going home. Coming from the Moment....

What's up guys...Just thought I'd drop a line and let you know I'm excited to finally have an Evo. Unfortunately it's the 2.3.3 that I bought from a buddy on the cheap in mint condition so I didn't have to use an upgrade.
Had rooted and flashed the hell out of moment nonstop so I'm anxious to see the exploit soon for 4.24. I've been on the XDA community for a while now just reading as SDX would love to port over themes that you guys had over here.
Anyways, thanks for the knowledge I've already seen from the users in this community just by reading through so many threads you guys have put up.
Welcome. Former Moment owner here as well, also stuck with 2.3.3.

Sucks doesn't it? Man, I will say this, the devs for the Moment were awesome and they made the Moment 10x what it should it have been. That being said though, even a stock GB Evo kicks the **** out of it that's for sure.
But I loved my Moment strictly because of the guys at SDX and can't wait for the devs here to kick the door open on 4.24 so we can start playing again.
I agree. I enjoyed the Moment a lot but traded it toward this one when I was vacationing in Florida last month and could not get a gps lock to save my life. The last ROM I ran was Keylime. I see they ported a new 2.2 update for the Transform.
I had the worst luck with the moment. I went through three cuz theyre aweful phones with tons of glitches. Then they said they discontinued the moment so i got the intercept. Just as bad. Now im here with my wonderful evo

Fellow Moment owner/Dev here, too! Matter of fact, my old Moment just got sold by the guy I sold it to the other day, so it's still kicking. Most under appreciated phone ever.
It sucks you guys just coming onboard with the Evo are handcuffed with out root yet, but patience will prevail! And once you get it unlocked, be ready for a whole new world, compared to the Moment. Fortunately, a stock Evo is a hell of a lot better looking than a stock Moment!

I have to agree. I love my Moment, it was just getting a little long in tooth. My son is currently using with DC13s ROM. The Evo is an upgrade though.
And OP, welcome to the Evo world. Be careful though. The otaku here are worse than the Apple fanboys.
Hell, I was one of the fortunate ones that had a Moment that didn't give me any issues. The only real issue I ran into was moving to 2.2 EB and losing my GPS capabilities. GPS always worked perfect when on 2.1 but that jump to 2.2 always killed my GPS period.
HipKat, I remember seeing you all over the SDX boards and there are thousands of your posts that helped me with my Moment, so many thanks for that.
GitHub, I remember seeing you on SDX as well and yes, I like to lurk and read before I post anything on boards. That being said, I knew the unfortunate circumstance of jumping to a 4.24 EVO even before I bought it, but as stated earlier, even a stock EVO is better than the maxed out Moment. But you DEVs over there at SDX made that phone astounding compared to what it was stock.
I'm just sitting like everyone else waiting for the geniuses to crack this 2.3.3 EVO....in due time.
TBH, I flashed back to my Stock/Rooted nandroid the other day, and it's not so bad, really. Of course, I was only there for a few mins to clear my GPS before flashing MIUI! lol
Glad I helped people out over there. Like here, I jumped in the pool headfirst!
Ditttto. Former moment here man name was Sgtstew76 over yonder at sdx. Man welcome over bro, GREAT PEEPS HERE IF you search before posting lmmfao.....
Hey are u rooted on that thing? Oh no...... well sit back and hold yer breath like the REST OF US......
I am still over at SDX but use the handle DarkPhoenix. It was already taken here it seems, so I used my secondary handle.

The Golden Age of Development(aka my life story)

I thought I'd keep up the ideal that the general section is a bin for off-topic wonders.
So I want to love on this phone more.
I saw a quote in the GNexus forums from Anon9mouz in his siggy that made me long for the old days.
"I envy the dumb ones."
It made me really sad. I remember back when I first got into rooting. I found a couple review videos for Bubby323's AOSP Magic ROM, Andromeda by noobnl, and KyleCole's BOSS ROM(Reviews by Dash, before ACS). I also remember reading about Cognition ROM over on the Captivate forums. "You see, it boosts benchmark scores from 1100 all the way up to the mid-2500's". That was what got me interested really. I now know that that ROM was using Quadrant hacks, but it was the idea that I could unlock the power of my device. Watching an old Randy Shear video. I was so afraid I was going to break my phone. But when I finally did it felt so great.
I remember I jumped on board during the beginning of the DK28 era. Frankenstein, Quantum, Supernova, Viper, Nebula, Bonsai, and the ever great idea of CM6. I remember flashing all of them and running Quadrant(back when that really meant something to me). After all, CM6's benchmarks are what pushed me to root in the first place. I remember reading that benchmarks didn't mean as much as I thought, and when I saw noobnl load Quadrant into RAM and get an outstanding score, I decided to go with what felt best to me for the first time. I thought Bonsai was the smoothest and I appreciated how small Frankenstein was(though I hated the theme, but it was so cool how he was able to change it). I decided on Viper ROM because when you used the music player, you could pause/play/stop from the notifications tray. I didn't get the concept that they just added an updated application. I thought they were magical. Emotionless Beast was the first theme I ever flashed. And the first thread I started was about MIUI music. I couldn't find it anywhere, so I figure I'd post it. That was where I got my first thanks, and my first senior member scolding. Damn MysteryEmotionz. Talking down on the newbies. Especially that I knew he was just as bad as me at on point. Oh and I remember Zanderman! I remember watching him not root. And I remember the quest to getting him to the point where he was comfortable with it!
Then Mike_77, asdfghjkl, fusingblackrose, raymond, and I started where ahmgsk left off and ported MIUI 1.3.5. I originally was just decompiling for asdfghjkl, but I eventually started smali huning for myself and I got SMS working It was such a thrill. All of the builds we made we posted publicly for everyone to play with. Kind of like what happened with MIUI v4 and CM10 now. Free for all.
I remember how amazing it was when Rodderik released Genocide BEFORE official with 1.2GHZ overclock. That was a feat. And a few days later EB13 hit the market. That's when things began to change. I began theming. And became one of the best without using DreamForgottens accursed guide. Tim and I were up for hours going through XML files and smali just to see what we could tweak. I began work on Nebula Theme beta...and it was a disaster. Nebula Theme v1 came out as the first theme to feature Maddoggin's lock mod. And I was super proud.
I joined ACS around then. I remember it being such a big deal, how Tim built up to it and then didn't tell me until an unexpected letter from ACS head came in. I was accepted with ease. And given a nice article. I got an ACS email address and given all of the internal log ins. I even had to sign a non-disclosure at one point. That was back when ACS' name meant something to people. They were the only group that mattered then, and I got all sorts of praise just for being in. Nice then groups like ERA and IAP came into foreground. Too bad ACS was a waste of time. I remember SRF 1.2. And how everyone but me loved it. I was running BakedSnack you see. That was fast. Haha. Know what was something I kind of regret in a childish way? Not being able to flaunt around SRF 1.3. Oh yeah. It existed. And it blew away all others. New Twilight kernel, clean theme, fast fast fast, Chris41g's last gift to this forum. And it didn't even get released. At least I'll always have it. I remember VisionKernel. 1.2 was bricking phones and such. I always kept it for the insane overclocking(at the time). And I got to use 1.3 for a while too. Thomasskull you big dork.
I learned plenty of during the GB leaks. I was able to properly pack FB15(remember FB15? Yeah me neither). I made it a ODIN tar, and I released MY FIRST ROM! Stock+ I called it. It was just clean. And I was happy. I figured when official came around I would upgrade it. And when it did I released Mortify. But at this point I was painfully knowledgeable. Sure CM9 was fun, but it wasn't as cool as CM7 or DK28. That was the golden age of development on this device.
My most recent appreciation for this forum is Kennyglass123. I missed the whole Impaler era of moderating. And frankly, we never had a good moderator in the time that I've been here. When Kenny got promoted I was elated. Finally! A moderator that will watch our forum! Finally! A moderator with less of a life than me! He'll be SO punctual when responding to my PM's! And he has been, and he will. He's amazing. And he should probably start using the server space I set up for him...
Ignorance is bliss. And it's why my Galaxy Nexus won't ever compare to how I feel about the Epic. I literally love it. And I love the community it came with. I know we are spread far and thin, but I want you all to know that you're like a family to me. And I still recognize names, even on other phones. Thank you all, so much. You've made me who I am today.
UBER will always be Biggoron to me
And I remember this one guy. I think his name was flastnoles11. He's wasted SOOOOOOOO many of his thanks on me. I guess I am as hilarious as I whisper to myself at night...HE'S DOING IT AS WE SPEAK
And I dedicate this post to iSaint.
Oh yeah, I started that ****.
Started on one of my themes. He was really into calling first, so one day I took it and simply put "First. Sorry iSaint"
He replied with "Damn you!!!" or equivalent.
And then EVERYONE for a long while did it as well! And I mean everyone. Even lurkers then were doing it.
Good times.
Quite a journey you've had! Man hard to believe this is my first smartphone ever and already know the things I do! And uber will always be biggoron to me too! I know I loved this last mortify v2 and your cm9 theme was amazing (forget the name, the red one, haha) I jumped on this phone after the ec05 update and promptly rooted and flashed srf 1.2... good times... gonna hate it when I upgrade, but sometimes a little hate is a good thing
I was thinking about the first time I posted a thread, in the Q&A forum, trying to find the stock rooted EC05 tar. Ugothakd and this "Kennyglass" guy posted replies, like;"dude, did you check Dyehya's 'How to Unbrick your Epic' thread? Its right there!" I felt like such a moron, but Kenny was very encouraging. Come to find out he lives 20 minutes from me, originally from NY; kind of my "kindred spirit". Whenever I asked a question, he was the first to answer. I'm sure he regrets the day he gave me his Gtalk contact info...

I LOL'd
How odd that just this morning I was thinking about how far things have come and the journey the Epic has had. You mention alot of what I was thinking but I was also remembering the journal/don't journal debates, RFS vs EXT4, battery calibration by discharging your battery then pulling the battery with the charge cord plugged in, CIQ just to name a few more. When was the golden age of development? For me it begins with the Epic since that is the first phone I even new could be improved by you guys.
Thanks for taking the journey and helping us lurkers out.

Ah yes. I remember all of that! I was all about calibration.
i was a journaling off kind of guy. But until MTD it was EXT4 4 life!
And when k0 found and removed ciq. And then it went kind of unnoticed for a long time. And then trav made such a big deal it set a ball in motion.
Thanks! Maybe i should just make a list of topics that arose with the Epic.

"I'm on EL30...and I keep getting this notification to update to FC09"
But I digress... Darkie is onto something here. I love to remember the old days. I learned to root at my youngest son's 11th birthday party. The laser tag place had free wi-fi, and I brought my laptop and watched all of Randyshears and DJR3Z' videos on rooting...
DRockstar...Noobnl...Bthomas22x...TPhillips...JohnCorleone..everyone helped everyone else. Magical!

Your post got me thinking about how much I'm learning. Even if it is so late in the lifecycle of our phone. It'll be a bittersweet day, when I find my I9300 for a good price and move on from this phone. I'm sure I'll keep my Epic, although it'll be in eternal airplane mode. It'll make a nice crash machine, mini tablet, media center remote, etc.

And that carries on to other device forums...except those with their devices stuck up their ass report those posts as trolling! I snuff those as quick as I get them.
Nice trip down memory lane! I finally jumped on the rooting and flashing with DK28 because I needed Flash to work on out Epics for my GFs website to show up. Then the Best Buy tech was walking around with his Epic flaunting his Froyo so sat my ass down and read and read. Flashed SuperNova first, then Midnight the next day, then determined to get the SuperNova bootani on Midnight, then Bonsai where I became part of that team, then the rest is history. Once the bug gets in you it is tough to get it out.
Nice Epic history my friend!
May the Epic live forever as the first of it's kind to boldly go where no phone has gone before with a slide out keyboard!
My only regret...... Not rooting sooner. Missed out on some great times.

Heard that! Didn't even know what rooting a phone was until about a week after I got the phone! Haha...

Wow real late. I was on eclair when I got mine. I remember cuz my bro had the EVO and he had flash and I did not. I almost got that phone.... I'm so glad I didn't, he to this day regrets not getting the epic.

Wow darkie, I remember alllll of that. God ViperRom...and BakedSnack lol. hero_over! Lol. Jesus that was bad...but BakedSnack was my first ROM. But Viper quickly stole my heart...and Rodderick's kernel were just so....good. the best.
I remember when froyo went official OTA, and the freaking mayhem that ensued in that thread trying to teach the noob how to pull it.
And Zanderman! Darkie, the zanderman saga was amazing. And I remember he was waiting for....the lock screen mod? Yeah, I think it was that...I remember referencing it in that thread ("somebody tell zanderman") and the OP didn't know what I was talking about...so sad lol.
I've been here pretty much since the beginning, and although my OG epic is my secondary phone, I still have this forum favorited and pop in every day.
What amazes me darkie, is that you seriously lurked for that long. I heard of you and always thought you were on a different device. That's some serious stealth, considering my time spent on xda rivals the mods. To think that you were here before dk28 (those who don't know dk28 should spend some time in the zombie threads) amazes me.
Oh yeah and...when's tmiller gonna get tv-out working?

I got my Epic like 2 weeks before Froyo went OTA I kept checking every day to see if I got it. After a few days I got ticked off and started searching and came across XDA and haven't left LOL.
I LOL'd on the tv-out.
