I just played with it, I was able to add my own computer using an ip address. This way you can import the books that you already own.

The "LumiRead" provides an interface to books that you can purchase. You could also download from Amazon. These are legal downloads.

You can also try Project Gutenberg for some free clasics.

free science fiction and fantasy ebooks
Free and completely legal and available in a variety of formats.
I'm too new to post links so just google these two items?
baen free library
baen free cd

Please don't flame, but usually torrents to be honest. They're the easiest to ACTUALLY find. I have all the novels I download, so it's not that bad. But all my books work with an app called iReader. No, not made for apple. Just called that. lol.

I get most of my books from Barnes and Noble. I like the nook app, and they have a free book every Friday.

I personally read more-or-less only computers- and engineering-related books myself, and those are never on sale anywhere, let alone free :/
For lighter reading I just turn to Manga Watcher

Alright, I need a pdf reader that has the same interface and effects as the 'lumiread' and smoothness of 'the pdf to go'

Another vote for the nook reader. Very fast, comfortable night mode, with independent brightness setting, which makes it nice for reading in the dark, also will sync between devices for books you buy through their store, although mostly I just load epubs from other sources.

First, I find smashwords.com great for buying ebooks, in addition to bn.com
Also if you have a collection using Calibre for your desktop PC, I wrote "Calibre Library" for Android in the Google market. It's not free but it's only $2.99. It lets you browse your Calibre or other opds source wirelessly. Real geeks can even make it work over the Internet. ;-)

I've been using Aldiko Reader for ePub-format books from Baen's site (and the CDs they toss into every 2nd or 3rd book in big series it seems) for a couple of years; it also supports PDF viewing, not sure if it works with encrypted PDF though. The other nice thing about Baen is that once you've bought an eBook, you can download it in multiple formats (I started with Windows Mobile Reader and moved to ePub with a stop at RTF along the way.)
Otherwise I've got both the Nook and Kindle apps installed.

i just download pdf format and throw it in the lumi reader folder on the sd card. that way it picks it right up and has no problems with any pdf format.

Because they hide it! tap on the bottom of the page to bring up the settings, then on "all settings" it's listed under "page theme" select night and you get night mode. They also offer sepia and butter, if the default theme isn't creamy enough for anyone.

Xoom browser and pdf

Xoom browser not able to open in web page pdf? Or is there something I am missing?

Is this a plugin problem?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Never had the android browser open a PDF within the browser. You'll need an app for PDFs as far as I know.
Its for my school online class it won't download then PDF at all its irritating.

My wife pointed that out to me as well. I have the full version of Documents to Go and it downloads the file only. To open it I still have to tap on the notification icon. It's a bit annoying but maybe I'm just missing the option to open the document with D2G automatically. I really hope the software gets ported to tablet format soon!

What is it... Cant find
Zinio is a magazine reading application. At the moment comes with some free magazines.
Cheers

This app is exactly what I've been looking for, lots magazines with reasonable price.
However, its very slow to navigate and zoom within a magazine. I even got a warning for "System encountered low memory" for the first time on the Xoom.
So I'm not going to buy any magazines or subscription until the app becomes more usable.
Hopefully new update is in the work.
Coming from an Ipad, I was very much looking forward to this being released. The program is ok, relatively slow as well. Sadly, the national geographic subscription I paid for will not work on honeycomb yet.

Google Cloud Print

Don't know if anyone knows about this but it's fantastic, I can print from my Xoom straight to my printer via desktop pc
This is very flexible, the app is called cloud print and you need google chrome, I can now print my reports written on ThinkFree from Chrome,
fantastic!!
It works natively with any HP network printer (I have one) and you can also print straight from Google docs (drive). Really nice to have, but I haven't had a need for it yet.

Since my MacBook went to sh*t I have been limited to my Xoom for doing everything and let me say that Cloud Print has saved my life.
I got a great new job, went through the whole process from cover letter and resume to interview and everything just using the Xoom, Google Docs and Cloud Print.
It works VERY well!

Is it this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pauloslf.cloudprint
(Just that it's not "owned" by Google, so I don't want to give that much permission to an app from a random).
Cheers.

It is built into Google Docs. Choose the web view of your document to get to the print option. Make sure you have set your printer up.
You don't need an app. This is not Apple.

Which is the best office suite for android

Which is the best office suite for android
documents to go or office suite 6 ( or any other app) ?
Using Arc S with official ICS
Office Suite Pro 6 from MobiSystems is REALLY good...
It was recently on offer for 69p, but it's well worth the proper asking price.
Try kingsoft. I find that awesome..
And it is completely free.

I use kingsoft office. Removed the default office suite that comes pre-installed. So far so good as I only use it for read only purpose.

I mostly receive pdf files. Best app for pdf review is docs to go.

You can also check out CloudOn, it uses MS Office over the internet. Great if you need all the features etc. It also auto syncs with your dropbox, box and google drive accounts
Try smartoffice.
I'd go with Quickoffice.

Have tried QuickOffice and Documents To Go, I believe DTG is better.
I believe that all of them are going quite the same job u just need to find the interfaceu like
So far I've only tried OfficeSuite, but most of the interfaces are the same.
And to be honest, it is so difficult to work with phones on them, since you don't have all the tools you'll get on a computer.
Either way for small editing or checking some files, OfficeSuite will do the work.

[Q] Nexus 4 and Google books

Alright, so I recently got a nexus 4 and noticed that under my google books i have a few books i did not purchase yet, they are on google books. From my last android phone I would load all my books onto my sd card and use aldiko or some other reader because i was unable to load them onto the google book app (I love the turning of a page on it, smooth and fluent, no one else offers this to my knowledge)
My question is HOW did it end up on my google books?! I do not have a SD card with my books on it in my phone because it doesnt have SD support.
I am confused on how books I didnt pay for ended up on it. Did google finally allow transfering of books onto there application? I know they didnt allow it before. If anyone can shed some light on this, that would be great. haha.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thankyou Daniel
