For those of you that want even more good news today, hulu plus for android had been reposed, and the atrix had been blessed as one if the six handsets that it will work on immediately.

Too bad netflix still sucks on the atrix
I get endless buffering on the very first ad before the video starts, along with a message "it appears you are having network issues. Please wait, or try again later."
Atrix 4g running Gingerblur 4.5
Its working perfect for me. Both on Wifi and "4g". Im not running gingerblur, just stock rooted.
Works great for me! Love it!

Fixed that for you.
Does the ad block hack for apps break hulu? I have found that all is good except when hulu wants to play an ad. I'll post on the GB 4.5 thread to compare notes.

Im on CM7 and it installed fine for me through the market on my Mac. I just selected my Evo in the dropdown and picked PC36100.
Working flawlessly on CM7.
Either go to https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient and install from there
Or...search for "com.netflix.mediaclient" in the Market.
someone mind pulling and posting their APK? Long shot, but if it works on the Galaxy S it may work on the Epic.
I am using it in cm7. Works great. Happiest day ever. Lol

Same here. I was expecting that I would have to modify build.prop as well since the phones mentioned are so different from the MT3GS, but no it worked just fine. Like the OP, I haven't tried it using HSPA+ yet...
Oh, and I'm on CM 7.0.3 as well using the stock kernel
Makes me wonder what the excuse will be now if its not "officially" released for all but the newest hottest phones.

I can't get Netflix to load on my Slide running CM7 for some reason. It'll install but when I open the app it's just a black screen that tries to force close when I try and do anything.

Haven't tested it myself I figured streaming a movie or a show would chew through data and battery. Plus there's an Xbox for that.

Try moving the app to SD card in application management, I had the same problem. I'm running the latest cm 7 nightly, btw. You just might have too many apps installed.

As far as I remember, mostly licensing issues. While Netflix has always wanted to many an android app, various restrictions from content partners wouldn't allow it without proper protection, drm, etc...
Though if the app is this easy to get working... I have no idea whats changed is the real question... Since I mean, it doesn't seem all that secure...

No it doesn't actually, my thinking is why are they restricting it to certain phones with the impression that it won't work on any other phones? The average joe is going to think it won't work on their particular phone because it won't ever get on their "List". of course I may be totally wrong and all of a sudden they do a blanket across the board release lol.
SWEET
ok I got it to work. Used the no detect APK version. Make sure to have it installed on the SD. Just got a black screen when it was installed internally.
Works great!

Netflix currently doesn't have any SUPPORT on ANY Gingerbread ROM.
There are a few Custom GingerSense Roms that can use the Modded Netflix

EVO on CM7 is running Gingerbread as well and it works. No Netflix in the Market on SavagedZen 2.3.4 though.
Netflix does not work on the EVO 4G running the new 2.3 gingerbread software
Netflix has currently dropped support for all Android Devices except the HTC Incredible. It looks like every other device that was ok'd was running 2.2 and was updated and dropped. For those thinking that it's a 2.2 to 2.3 issue, that possible, but the app does work with 2.3 as we can see from the LG Revolution...
They are expecting an update within 2 weeks to reestablish the DRM and security settings. For now, the App has been pulled from the market and will reappear when the fixes are complete.

Thanks supercluver!
Imma check it out.
And just like that, they've updated the market version and now the NS4G is supported. Stupid skype. So, no more hackery needed.
Haha. Oh well.. I guess i'll still try this one out just for the fun of it, i guess. Ha.

FYI - There's an update in the Market to 2.0.0.47 and says there is support for the Nexus S 4G. I installed it and there was no video chat. 2.0.0.45 does still work and I uninstalled 47 and went back to 45 because of this. Just giving others the heads up. You can try, but it didn't work for me for some reason, even though it is in the changelog to support our NS4G.
