I have several friends with the droid x and have rooted many of them. I wouldn't trade my evo for one///ever.
I rooted mine and all that good stuff it wasn't hard at all. Is the evo eaisier and does it have a better screen????

They are similar in specs. You should play with the Evo at a Sprint store. Most have it on display now.
Well Evo seems easier to root with unrevoked and screen is almost the same, I hate hump in the back of the droid tho, and I got tired of motorola phones (bad speakers in most the I owned ) so I stick with the Evo and HTC if you want veruzon you should wait for the thunderbolt.or incredible s to come out , thunderbolt is an Evo redesing with new sense and inc s is almost the same just smaller

Verizon has been ripping me off for the last six months and im sick of it. And im sick of Motorola locking there bootloaders. Is sprint getting any new htc phoned similar to the evo???
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The specs are pretty much the same.
So in my opinion:
form factor: I like the evo. It's nice, slick, flat and sexy. The droid x has that awful bump on the back and is hideous. Winner: Evo
UI: Motoblur's happenings widget is badass, but HTC Sense is faster, better looking and more usable. The widgets are nice and don't slow the system down. Winner: Evo
Root: Don't know Droid X root method, but the Evo was by far the easiest root I've ever gotten (coming from the MyTouch Slide and the G2). Winner: Evo
Roms/dev support: We got CM, which means we have THE BEST AOSP roms on earth. We've got half a dozen fantastic sense UI roms (Myn, MikFroYo, Konikub's Elite, etc) and they're always updated and supported. Plus, a bunch of themes. Winner: Evo
I'd get an Evo, but you should try one out at the store before making a decision. Some people really like their Droids.

No. They are probably waiting for a killer device - The Echo
I love my droid!!! I don't love paying 150 bucks a month for locked a boot loader and no front facing camera. Is there a one click root for the evo or is it all about downloading drivers and that nonsense???

You have to download the HTC drivers, Android SDK (which any rooted android user should already have) and UnRevoked. Then open unrevoked and root. All done. There's an FAQ around here somewhere...
Thanks for your help and opinions fellow android users

Looks like the Sensation won't have a locked bootloader.
Now the GS2 is going to actually have a competitor.
The sensation is nice but for me the CPU and GPU just don't cut it. SGS2 is the only upgrade option for me =]

I've seen reports of the CPU/GPU combo in the Sensation being faster then the Exynos. I can't wait to see the 2 phones head to head.

The mali400-MP has far more power than adreno220...adreno220 is no weakling though, its very impressive. I'd put the adreno220 in league with sgx540, but its no multicore GPU. As for CPU its good, but is still cortex-a8 with some a9 features bolted on, it doesn't have the improved neon, etc. That comes with a9. It won't be a bad phone, just not good enough for me =]

Samsung never locked bootloaders so there is no need of confusion.
HTC announced moving forward they will have unlocked bootloaders.
Sensation is set to release on June 7th and by now is already being delivered to retailers. It's not enough time to pull the stock, unlock bootloaders and send it to the stores.
So, we are at HTC's mercy whether they will roll out an update to unlock the locked sensation bootloader.

I meant with the update thing. HTC releases updates. Samsung...... well yeah.
TBH, I think the only phone currently that can actually compete with the SGS II is the Samsung Hercules. I know it sounds redundant but HTC got itself disqualified when it decided to release a phone with only 768mb of RAM and 1gb onboard storage (yeah, I completely got spoiled by my Vibrant).

Maybe I'm wrong but besides nexus phones wasn't samsung first to release a gingerbread phone which (redundant as they may be) haven't they also sent out several updates for it? And is there any htc phone running gingerbread? Any yeah samsung screwed up but there were several other companies and even htc dragged their feet and few months between saying the incredible would receive froyo and when it actually did. Also in regards to samsung they have also updated the original sgs international with gingerbread too. Just my 2 cents

Well, with HTC, I'm sure your phone will get a GB update if the hardware supports it.
But, as bad as they are, Motorola updates all of their new phones. Even the DroidX is getting GB. If only they had unlocked bootloaders, I would buy their phones.

Engadget seems to agree with me about the display.
Plus the specs in GSII are still sexier.
Do you really want to wait another year or more for AOSP though? I'm sure the SGS2 will be riddled with more of Samsung's awful coding...

Motorola phones should be getting better since google bought them. I know people that have a razr and all of them love it and it is fast. It's just their ui that's weird. I'm a sense or aosp guy. I keep sense on my 3d but I love aosp ics on my epic

As one who really likes (needs) to have a physical keyboard, the big appeal for me is the 5th row of dedicated numerals. That was the deciding factor for me over the Evo shift that was available at the time. I would prefer another Samsung, and I would prefer an unlocked bootloader. But if something happened to my epic, and this was the only phone like this available, I would buy it.

Has anyone attempted it? Or are people receiving retail units with the bootloader locked?
