There's a Factory Reset option in the settings...I did it before returning my 1st Tab (though it wasn't rooted). Would that work?

Im trying to retrace my steps and restored the nvflash backup img i created and figured out this only affects the recovery mode.
Im not sure if I need the zip file to unroot it and install using recovery mode.
Or maybe i should just delete the superuser apk?

Being rooted does matter. Most of the Devs change you software version to whatever build their ROM is and this blocks any updates from coming in, a nice safety for people who don't know most updates will break root. So unless you are on the absolutely stock EVO or the absolutely stock rooted EVO chances are you won't see this upgrade.

Won't work; I've tried a while back.
It'll just freeze at the "Acquiring Root" part.
So no, you cannot use z4root to root, unfortunately. However, there are various topics on how to do one-click roots on your phone, with all types of computers - Windows, Linux, or even Mac.

Yes, when using the one click roots, you get a lot of options.
One being rooting the phone w/ cwm redirector.
And another that gives you the option to unroot the phone.
So basically, use the same method to unroot it as you do to root it, although choosing the correct option.
Simple as that

You should just wait till we get proper methods.
Flashing different rooting and CWM methods could lead to improper use of the phone.

I will assume you have bought a used set. Possibly the previous owner has flashed a custom rom on it.
Maybe you can try download the official rom for your region and flash it with Odin and see if everything goes back to normal.
If you are not sure how to do the flashing, just Google for the instructions.
I also thought it might be a custom rom. And yes, it's an used set, kind of, but the person said it was never used.

You just have MCIC icon visible as previous user set it up for you, using the Jedi powers (because you have to trust him that he did not used the phone at all)
Knox is not installed if that's what you mean.
I think you can say if this phone has a custom rom in the "about device" section, right?

I remember that I bought a couple of years ago an used phone that I don't remember the model name, and they told me that the phone was rooted, I checked the phone and it didn't have any visible sign of being rooted and I also downloaded an app and indeed the phone wasn't rooted, so I proceed to update the phone, and bam! Motherboard died.
I want to be sure that is really safe so I can proceed to flash it.
