I like many downloaded and ran the DK28 froyo upgrade when it came out only for official releases to come out later down the line.
I stood with DK28 until now because for the most part it worked really well. Ten, I started encountering random problems from the phone never calling out successfully on the first attempt to the wifi refusing to turn on unless I turned the phone off then back on.
I have gotten tired of these problems as well as sluggish performance. I wanted to update to the last official build. Are we on EC05?
What is the easiest way to do this? I am not rooted. I have never used Odin or the samsung updater. I am not that tech savvy on my own but can easily follow well explained steps.
I appreciate any help. Thank you.

I simply ran it as an update.zip and it was like receiving a pseudo OTA. I never rooted because I never had a reason to. I am tempted to root now so that I can create a backup of apps and maybe some texts.
Since I am not rooted, could I simply run EC05 as another update.zip file or will this simply not work.
It would be easier to follow this

Thanks for trying would have been better if you posted like 2-3 days ago though
Or in one of the other 10 EC05 threads.
I've been getting the damn prompt since yesterday. Is there a way to banish it permanently? Having played with EC05 (and not being too impressed) I prefer DI18.
I never saw an ota thread... Just a zip on googles servers and bonsai and syndicate roms.

I think no rom's started until di18... atleast as I remember, I've had the phone since the day after release
Edit- Im pretty sure we had root on the day it was released but no roms yet... noobnl made the first rom but I think it was only bloat removed and it was di18 .

Cool I guees ill have to make the first DG27 rom just for fun lol
EDIT: did anyone even think about giving EG14 a chance? Lol.... im sure there could have been some stuff that worked in it that possibly broke in EG22..... just a bored thought.....
I apologize if this has been asked before but i just put gingerbread EF02 on my epic 2.3.3 thanks to qbkings youtbe video. Is their a way to get say the nexus s stock gingerbread on this phone or another way to get the sprint crap off my epic?
Why don't you use EI22?

Look at his post count--that will tell you.
I am new to this stuff. I dont much and i Just put ef02 on my phone last week
EI22 is the official GB release for the Epic. Read up and work your way into a stock rom based on EI22.
Is your phone rooted?
Sent from my EI22 (Finally Official) GB Epic using xda premium
No sir my phone is not rooted. qbking video showed how to usea program called odin to put gingerbread on without rooting. it works well i just hate having sprint junk on my phone. people say rooting does wondersi just have no clue how to. qbking showed a very easy 5minute video on how to put gingerbread on and it worked.
OK so i took the plunge into rooting my phone. Thanks to Qbkings video I was able to put on the Legendary ROM in about 10minutes. Rooting was actually very easy. The ROM is amazing and removed all the crap off my phone and made it super fast. Now i flashed to 3.2 from 3.1 and 3.2 to 3.3 without rebooting and everything is fine but i read that you should reboot after doing each one. Does anyone know if this will be an issue? thanks
Anyone else running just factory EL with this kernel? I'm happy with this setup until we see cm9. Battery life and smoothness are like butter. Highly recommend.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Are you running MTD?? I tried that kernel for BML and it was very unstable. Constant freezing and reboots.
Just factory EL30 which is bml. Were you running sepukku MTD? Everything has been snappy and stable with this current setup, atleast for me.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
no im on BML, but i dont have the EL30 modem...im still on EI22
Thats what im on. Factory el30 with sepukku kernel. Smooooooth. And killer multitasking.
Just buggin out, me an my eye balls.
Leprechaun, El30 is more than a modem. Its a complete upgrade for GB with no carrier iq. I would get off ei22.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
yeah i know there is no ciq on it, but i dont have that anyway (legendary rom) so im gunu wait till someone makes a rom for it.
Actually, there's still traces of carrier iq on custom roms because it was integrated so deep. Now that carrier iq is gone, Ill be rocking this sweet setup until cm9 hits.

There are traces but there is nothing for it to latch onto... therefore it is completely disabled... so. Ciq free...

Those will probably be the apps you had moved to the sd card. The link to where they were probably got severed on one of your updates.
Kenny, sounds like I need to do a clean wipe to ec05 again? This sucks. It was a process building up from ec to ei and el. Could really use a new .tar about now

You probably just need to reinstall those apps that show as missing and then move them to sd card again. Not sure why you would be getting random reboots all of a sudden. A few others have reported that as well. I updated my modem and then went to CM7 nightly 24.

I did reinstall the apps, but anytime it reboots, it turns into the same mess. I'm going to let the official EL30 OTA hit my phone and see if helps. Starting to miss my cyanogen already

So you are saying it is deleting apps that are not on your sd card as well?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Okay, I had to buy a refurb Epic and EL30 is snappy. For example, the applications populate instantly when I choose Manage Applications. GPS actually works too. It's very polished and refined. This will definitely hold me over until the SGS3 releases later this year.
Fyi- I paid $162 from Ebay. The phone looks absolutely brand new.
I thought so too. But then I started missing all of the goodies from CM7.

I have yet to have a freeze or reboot crop up on EL30.
I rooted to remove bloatware, and applied the wifi hotspot hack.

What ROM did you flash? I was just using the odexed EL30 and the reboots were bad. I haven't seen any el30 ROMs. Seems like everyone is still using EI22.

There are a couple el30 custom roms out... sleeper and hoffmans "long way to go" (not officially named yet). And no random reboots here on stock el30 or the custom el30 roms....

I'm on the stock + rooted + deodexed with the clean gingerbread with slight mods kernel. I'm driving, so I can't provide links to the individual posts where I got each thing.
My GPS on Froyo was good, On GB leak it was bad, on GB official its Bad as well. On CM7 its still bad, with several GPS Fixes it doesn't fix anything Argggg.
Wish i knew what the cause for this is, on the official release of GB for HTC devices GPS is flawless. But mine it stutters and laggs never consistent.
