hey all... had my tab less than 24 hours. Someone was kind enough to break into my apartment today and steal my TAB and an Asus laptop. Any suggestions on a way I could track it? I didn't even have enough time with it to download a tracker app, so I know its a long shot..
go to the market from your friend's comp. market.android.com. login with the same account you use on your device and remote install plan b from lookout security. i know look out uses sms for phones to communicate with the location servers in the background. sgt doesnt have sms. it might work for your tab.. might not. worth a shot.

I don't think Plan B will work without SMS.... call your insurance company!

Did you use a credit card to purchase it? Some credit cards (My Amex does) gives you 90 days protection if lost, stolen or damaged as well as an extra year warranty. Just make sure you report it to the police along with the SN#.
yeah, im gonna file in the morning and call ole' Visa. Super bummer, I lost a loooooot of work docs.
.... and I was so looking forward to getting to play around with my brand new tab after work. Ive been so busy, Id only spent about an hour with it...
also, because i did set up a gmail widget on the homescreen, I went ahead and sent myself a sufficiently angry email so it'll beep at whoever did it and they'll see it right there. I can only hope they see it before I change the password..

Hey.. am I getting overcharged???? it seems like this app would be so simple...
Basically all the app would do is move some files onto the users SD card.
I would just need to be able to change the content/name of the app.
My buddy saiud he would do it for 300 bucks... too expensive???
$300 for custom programming work? Sounds reasonable to me. Even with a very, very simple app, it's not hard to get 3 hours tied up in design, coding, and testing. Call up Robert Half or a local consulting firm and see what their hourly rates are for custom work. The last time I worked as a consultant, the firm was billing my time at considerably over a hundred an hour.
IMHO, if your buddy writes code for a living, you should feel fortunate he's willing to do the app at all. I don't ask my friends who are professional mechanics to waste their off hours working on my car for free, and when my friends and family ask me about computer problems, I refer them to geek squad.
Did you check the market? Sounds to me like what you want is something that Astro file manager can do.
Otherwise $300 does seem fair for custom work. Did you guys talk about if it would be okay for him to sell the app on the market once it's finished?

Time to find a better buddy.
Custom work is tough....and he may NOT want to do it for you, and thus giving you the big ticket price.
I would hardly call $300, 'big ticket'
Yeah Astro will do the trick. It's my bread and butter.

if you search for samsung media hub free 50 youll find a metric fuuuuuuucktonne of things saying the same thing
its legit i got mine back in December and quite honestly.. i barely used it... the media hub was a huge let down...
can only d/l on wifi or 4g.... when u do down load it tells u u have a certain amount of time (like a month) but once u start watch your d/l ... u only have 24 hrs to watch it complety b4 it expires and disappears... so if say u sart watching it while travellin and get your destination before u finished watching, u only have the rest of that day to finish seein it before its gone...
also the stuff u can d/l with that credit is very limited.. either old films seen or not interested in, or very limited recent releases that and all pretty common and have been seen already... and non of the tv programing or anything else..
now its my credit is expiring and i only used like 4-6 bucks on it...

I only watched one movie and the quality was great but the whole concept of how the rentals work sucked about as bad as not getting Froyo yet. I let $46 expire because I forgot about it. It would have been nice if they would have sent out a reminder email letting you know it was going to expire. Oh well free is free. Waiting for the Netflix Android app.
Well, an update... Cant play videos cant view my media fprce closes if I try to do said things.. Awesome! Great work samsung /sarcasm
I got.my code and its not very good. You are limited to the selection if using the $50 free code. It expires once you activate the.code.like 30 days later. I have lime 13 movies I purchased the.day my code expired that I have to still dl and watch.lol I wont they will just expire. The media Hub and free codes suck

Yeah MediaHub sucks. I didn't really expect much in the first place. I expected movies and videos to cost way more than they were worth. The real travesty to me is this freaking Netflix app. Come on already!!
I bought 300, tried to all share it but couldn't so I didn't watch it.
2 days later I bought it again, watched the intro, then cut it off.
A week later I bought it, watched the whole thing, then bought v for vendetta and watched it.
Its free money! Buy things just to buy! Lol

Recently one of my friend blogged about increased time at Andorid Market. I tried it and I was all yay! because it really worked
Read more about it at http://knowmydroid.com/blog/android-market-app-refund-time-increased
still not enough for me. For example if you buy a sat nav on the market, How are you supposed to download the maps and test it works properly in 30 mins? JUst encourages people to get the pirated versions instead.
a step in the right direction! but still not enough.
I miss the 1 hour refund policy, not i dont buy as many apps as I dont wanna be stuck paying for one after it doesnt do what I need it to.
I would like a 1day return, that way I can properly test the app. some times I have brought an app that I liked, but it killed the battery over the course of a few hours so I uninstalled it, but I still had to pay for it.
I suppose if you were to test an app with a pirated version, there would be nothing stopping you from then going to the market and paying for it if it worked for you.

I remember all horrible apps
If devs got off their arise and used market licensing, which I promise is a breeze to implement, piracy wouldn't be a concern. If its not the current concern its probably potential loss of money on Google's part and that's their only concern.

Hi
Most apps prices are relatively low so in most cases it's not a big problem that will ruin you
But 30 min. is still a very short period, and I sadly have to admit that I have bought several apps that I never use.
Worst case for me was an expensive Copilot Live Premiere EU that I seldom use
It would be nice if we had some kind of return right in case app is too buggy
at least we have 30 minutes...
others don't.
look on FAQ's on their market or whatever the name:
What is the Mac App Store refund policy?
If you experience a technical issue with an app, first contact the developer of the app for assistance. Their support contact information can be found on the app's page in the Mac App Store. If that does not resolve the issue, contact Mac App Store Customer Support.
that's crap
This is my first time having an NFC device, so please bear with me. I rooted my phone the evening I received it. Now I'm trying to set up Google Wallet, and it says that my device is unsupported. In the help topic regarding this message, it mentions something about rooted devices being unsupported due to security reasons, can I still use this feature? Is it discouraged in any way?
If anybody has some insight or experience with this, I'd like to know.

The reason it is discouraged is because anyone (with the now-how) can brute-force access your pin if your phone is rooted. And then skip away making payments on goodies.

Any place that has tap-to-pay or pay-pass features (forgot what the actual name is). I've seen it at McDonald's, CVS/Walgreens, Best Buy, and a few other large chains around town.

Plenty of you fly to Japan and China, they have been using it for years. You can try looking up PayPass mechant, such as this link: http://www.google.com/wallet/how-it-works/in-store.html
So it doesn't have to be specifically for google wallet? They work on the things like the speedpass at speedway or your creditcard where you just tap it to the machine and it gets your infO?

I tried to use this at Walgreens today. They had the translucent blue PayPass terminal. I sat there for about 30 seconds and nothing happened. I even tried to enter the app and still nothing. NFC was on, and my card is attached in Google Wallet.
I think I set up wallet, then unlocked and rooted, then had to re-set up Wallet. Am I doing something wrong? The clerk was staring at me like I was crazy, just holding my phone next to the terminal....

I had that happen at Taco Bueno. And a McDonalds. But at some McDonalds it works. I think that so few people use this system that when its broken no one complains. And its probably never even tested when they set it up.
Typically you can just tap your phone to the thing (no need to be in the app). It'll prompt you for a PIN. Then you can pay.
If it's not working you may have a poor data connection? I think it requires data to work.

I'd still say it's more secure than that. Anyone can swipe a card and charge it as credit. Relatively few people would know how to brute force hack google wallet on a rooted device.
Everyone.
Google wallet does not require a data connection.
If its not working , I read on the wallet website to "hold it about an inch" from the terminal. Without placing it on the terminal. Try to see if that works.

Yeah mine didn't work at the gas station the other day, though I didn't log out of Google Wallet before I flashed a rom and rooted recently so some say that it'll never work again after that because of the secure element getting locked or something like that. Hopefully that's not true.
I've flashed and reflashed a lot. All you need to do is delete the data, connect to high speed internet like WiFi, then open it up. Worked for me.

It should be noted first that I want to disable all the Samsung Account crap I can from my Note. That said, I do wish to spend as much of my $50 as possible. Will movies or music purchased via the Samsung Store play on a regular computer or my phone?? I don't want something that has to log into Samsung every time to make sure I am authorized to use it. I've got enough of that issue with iTunes, but at least there I can purchase DRM free.
Thoughts on where to spend the $???
I too would like to know what others suggest. I've never used the hub, so I have no idea if things like music are tied to the account or can you download it and use on any device without issues.
ive poked around, ive spend about 20 of it.. not much in there i like, far.. and i mean far less goodies then google play... if ya ask me, they should have gave 25 for the hub, 50 for play
Music is what im buying. You can download straight to an sd card and your purchases are saved to your account for later download or streaming.

Samsung's email tells you that a credit card is required to be on file when using the gift card...I think they are hoping that you end up spending a little extra.
So I can't decide what to waste my $50 credit on.
The book library is majorly lacking.
I'd rather buy an App from the Google Play store (don't want to deal with 2 separate locations.
Music? - Are these even normal Mp3s?
Movies - I dunno I guess I could rent a few.
