Hey guys,
If you're having trouble with the new 2.2.2 update (getting stuck at 20%, seeing a triangle with an exclamation point, etc.) I'll be glad to help you guys.
I had the issue myself, but now I fixed it and am running 2.2.2 thanks to NFHimself.
He was the one who linked me all of the code, so creds goes to him, but I'll be putting up a step-by-step guide later tonight on how to update. Be patient! It will work.
Pm me and I will link you the thread I make later, or just check atrix general and android development later tonight/tommorow.
Cheers Canadian users! Dont have fear, you can update!
I got the same issue. The help will be appreciated. Keep us posted.
Sweet..I love step by step guides. I'll be keeping my eyes open for this!
Will you also be including a way for users with the French SBF to install this update?

I would immagine that the process would be the same if I have rooted and flahsed the SBF from the OLYEM 2.1.1 SBF from here... ?:

The guide will only be for bell firmware. If you're running an international firmware its much more complex, and I never swapped to an international firmware, so I can't say how to do it. However, NFhimself managed to go from the french SBF to bell 2.2.2 and bell radio. Not sure how exactly, he's a master with ADB and code. He's the one who has made the bell deodex files, as well as many bell atrix mods. Contact him if you need help going from french sbf to bell, since he went through the process. However, know you'll need pretty extensive programming/code knowledge.
The guide will be up asap, im studying for exams / beginning to write it right now.
To clarify: the guide will show all bell users who are on 0.37.4 how to update who have modified system files (ie. webtop hack, deodexed, etc.) to bell android 2.2.2. A clean update as well, not some weird glitch of an update.

The great developers and testers at sdx-developers came up with two version of Froyo using VM USA Froyo release.
1.
Rooted Froyo ROM for those who previously upgraded to Sprint Froyo 2.2
For Sprint baseband, DL05 or DF27
2.
Stock Froyo ROM based on latest VM USA
A few people tested this and reported that MMS and Voice Mail notifications working again.

Please read in detail and decide for yourself.
I'm still not sure about this update. It's not as simple as running Update.zip, right? You need to flash it, then do a factory reset, then download another program, run that, and THEN it works? Also, is this a modified ROM at all?
Yeah, this isn't the zipped rom from Virgin Mobile, this is pieced (back) together from the 2.2 update installed on an Intercept after the fact, apparently.
3:30pm PDT on 4/13 and still nothing.
I still haven't seen anybody come up with the actual 2.2 Froyo zipped rom from Virgin Mobile. Apparently everyone so far has popped a nut when they get the update and installed it directly instead of downloading it and choosing to install it later, then locating it on their phone and posting it somewhere.
I've got aLogcat installed. I am just waiting for the update to show up. I've seen the message that it is coming. Still waiting for it to arrive though. When it does I'll try to get the devs what they need. I don't really know what I am doing, but I'll give it a go.
I guess this no longer matters as the official update is now in the hands of SDX-Developers.
got mine on 4/20
holy sweet baby jesus this stuff is killing me! I've managed (by the grace) to get my bf's intercept rooted (not temp).. been on this for hours! I'm fairly accustomed to the process as I have an evo and been flashing nightlies for months.
I can't get a recovery on the phone via swupgrade. I put the cm01.tar in the binary folder by itself, and the thing goes through right to the last part and just sits there, doesn't transfer. heeeelp pleeeease! I'm so sick of this now. I was able to delete much of the bloat ware and now I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble to try and get a better rom / kernel. Advice?
I just recently picked up a dell streak. It's brand new with what I'm guessing it the latest shipped rom which is build number 15274 running android version 2.2.2
All I see is custom roms and reflashing back to other roms to root....blah blah blah...is there a way to just root my current rom and not have to flash a completely new one? I'm all for supporting the community, I'd just like to keep this as device as clean as possible and remove all the bloatware.

Download SuperOneClick v1.5.5 and root away. Dont forget to put your phone into USB debugging mode before rooting, its very important that you do that. Or just follow the steps in this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925853 good luck.
Wow thanks, I totally skipped over that post!!! I guess from what I was reading I was expecting the whole process to be a lot more complicated.
Thanks a ton!
Anytime.

How come Dell don't push out the 2.2.2 version OTA to their customers?
I check for updates every day, but have just once received any. (2.2)
Their way of saying; "we just don't give a f*ck about our customers"?
You should have gotten that update weeks ago. It's been OTA for probably about a month now. And I don't know how much you've read, but a lot of what happened with not updating from 1.6 was probably AT&T's fault because they wouldn't okay the build (speculated). Dell had the source up for 2.2 for a long time, if I remember correctly.
I'm on unlocked stock EU ROM since day one. Just to clarify.
Do you mean the 2.2.2 was shipped OTA, for EU users too?
Ohhh. Didn't notice you were on EU. I don't know if Dell released one for EU yet (probably hasn't since you don't have the option to OTA). Just remember that it's not just the phone maker responsible for updates, the carrier has some say in it, too. Are you still on 1.6? Because you could always try out DJ Steve's ROM if you wanted to try something different.
No, the one OTA update I received, was the 1.6 --> 2.2 on last October.
Since then - nothing. I guess it's only in America people get the 2.2.2.
Thanx for taking time to reply.
No problem, haha. I hope you get it soon
I really want the update to, I'm in the Uk and I'm still on 2.2, I would do it myself but its just to complicated and don't wanna mess up my phone. Has anyone in the Uk got the 2.2.2 upgrade? And to be honest I really wont the 2.3 upgrade, but seeing as we still don't have the 2.2.2 upgrade, I think we'll be waiting a long time :'(
2.2.2?
If someone updated from 1.6, to the "non official" 2.2, is there any difference between it and 2.2.2?
2.2.2 is supposedly immune to the malware loaded from the 50 or so infested apps that Google removed recently from the market.
Hello,
I'm not new to rooting, but the Xoom scene is very confusing at the moment and I just need somebody to direct me to the proper guides and confirm that I'm not going to blow up my Xoom and/or tear a hole in the space time continuum.
Situation is this: I have a stock UK wifi Xoom and want to get to Android 3.1. I'm not willing to wait until 2013 for Motorola to pull the finger out and give their European customers an update.
SO
Obviously I need to root and apply the update manually.
I'm willing to risk the one-click method (I've seen other UK Xoomers have had some success with it).
Where do I go from there? One-click method says it will install tiamat kernel... but I've read that this isn't compatible with 3.1. So is there a guide that will take me from tiamat to 3.1? Do the update methods replace that kernel anyway? Am I going to go completely f*cking crazy if I have to trawl through another 50+ page thread full of conflicting info? (Yes.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Im not an expert at any of this, just a regular user but heres the guide i followed to get my uk wifi xoom updated. Http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074609
However you need to be aware that this software is the us version and you will ony have access to American English. You will lose all the European languages.
Also you need to be aware that if you unlock your bootloader with "fastboot oem unlock" you can not relock it. Trying will brick your zoom. (Currently)
If you could do a full system dump of your xoom as is with the UK wifi software that would be awesome as currently nobody has uploaded one and im trying to get back to stock and Motorola have only posted the us images
Thanks. I don't mind losing the languages. I'm using SwiftKey so I can just download any language modules I need.
I would certainly be willing to upload that if I had the faintest idea of how to do it! If I can get a step by step guide I can give it a go... and as long as I know I'm not also uploading my personal details and authorisation tokens etc along with the software!
Any particular reason you're going back to stock? Bugs or anything?
Edit: the canadian system image has the full set of languages if that's what you're looking for...
Sorry, didn't have time to wait for a reply, going out in a while.
I did a factory reset and then an adb pull so I've got all the system files etc on my PC. Not quite sure what to do with them, though. They're not in .img format, just in a folder?
Anyway, now rooted and running 3.1. Cheers for the link above.
As I stated in the title. Anyone know how long the wait may be before those of us with unlocked bootloaders and rooted Xplays are able to get this in a ftf or update.zip format to flash manually? I am liking the 720p camera and of course the auto brightness option.
Or if someone knows if its a pain in the ass to create one of the above? I am sure that in order for any of this to happen someone would have to gain root access and then flash a recovery to do a complete backup, then piece it together and or convert it to one of the above formats.
Are you sure 2.3.4 is out for Verizon?
2.3.3 came out like 5 days ago.....
sorry, your right. I meant 2.3.3. By the way, would it be possible to flash a 2.3.4 ROM from the UK and then just flash the CDMA files from Frasertags ROM?
Do we know what the changelog is or the Verizon update? I cannot find it anywhere.....
Also, I now its the wrong thread but if I relock my phones bootloader and relfash stock ROM so I am unrooted, and I flashed the new 2.3.3 ROM, if I wanted to unlock the bootloader then would it be the same key I used to unlock the first time?

Sorry I run my phone stock not sure if any of that will work.
As for the changes, there is no changelog but there is another thread I think in Q&A where everyone has been documenting changes. 720P video recording is not one of them.
The major ones: better autobrightness and a way to disable it and Media Server (awesome feature, stream stuff from your phone wirelessly to any DLNA device).
Thanks Rogue, I found the thread about the changelog stuff..... where people are posting there findings. The 720p is from 2.3.4.
To answer earlier questions: If you re-lock your bootloader you _SHOULD_ be able to safely apply the OTA (or a flash file) and then re-unlock using the same code. However, I would probably try to do it via SEUS instead of the OTA. That way you can have the files ready just in case you need to unbrick and re-do it. There are unbrick from bad OTA threads around in case you booger the thing.
I wonder if somebody who hasn't unlocked could use SEUS (SonyEricsson Updater Service software) and download a copy of the flash and post it up for us. I imagine the Devs would like to have it, as well as the general unlocked community. I saw what looked like a link to a .IMG file over in the dev section that somebody was claiming was the R800x 2.3.3 (the new OTA) but I haven't verified it yet.
My phone was originally Bell Canada, with all the associated crapware. In June, I came on here and followed instructions to upgrade to a clean ROM, using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070076
All went ok, but now I want to upgrade to Android 2.3.
A lot of the guides seem to have big emphasis on what your existing provider is eg. Bell,AT&T etc. Because I installed this sbf, which instructions should I use. I believe it was originally a French telecoms company.
Can I just go ahead and try any of the AT&T guides?
Any tips appreciated. I'm not a complete noob, just need to know what guide to use.
System Version: Version.4.2.11.Mb860.Retail - Blurred
