What files does the stock .596 browser require to fully function? I tried out Apex RC2 and then separately the AOSP GB theme from the forum here. Both of these have the AOSP browser with the highly annoying +/- buttons that always get in the way. I want to switch back to the stock browser and keep everything else, but it seems like there's more to it than just swapping out the Browser.apk file in system/app. Can anyone give some advice?
You need blur-res.apk for any blur app to work

I thought I would give Fata1ity's hero looking Laucher a shot. I installed Launcher.apk and it works fine, however it's not the look I was going for.
I tried a full wipe and reinstall of my fatai1ity 1.4 rom, the laucher is still there.
I tried copying the Launcher.apk and the Launcher.odex out of the fatality zip file and pushing those over. Didn't change it.
I'm about to try another full wipe and install. Any tips of how to revert back to the google launcher?
Argggg this is so frustrating. I have now tried wiping the phone and installing a non-Hero rom Cyanm 4.0.1. The launcher is now the google launcher.
I wipe again and install the Fataility 1.4 and the launcher is back to the one I pushed over! How that can be.
I gave up on Fata1ity't and have switched to a plain-jane Cyan 4.0.1 because of this :-( I couldn't figure out any way to get rid of the Launcher.apk
The one thing I haven't tried yet was installing a different Hero rom. I can't fathom why it comes back when I install Fatality.
Double post, sorry.
Hi,
Does anyone have the APK's for the stock 2.1 Music app? I would like to replace the HTC Music app.
Cheers
Use this modded stockplayer:

Way better looking than stock.
How do you install that on a Sense based ROM, remove the HTCMusic.apk and odex, then push the new files?

the stock music player is pure class, and is the main reason i will never use a htc rom again after using a froyo rom

Froyo is still unstable. What keeps me away from vanilla ROMs is the ugliness of the general UI. Sparta ROM is IMHO the best combination (Sense UI with stock apps). Even better would be Cyanogen with Sense slickness (i don't care about launcher or widgets) but doubt that would ever happen.
BTW, did you guys try bTunes? It's iPhone's iPod rip off but works great (plus, allows you to double press heaphones button to skip songs which is a must for me).

Like i said, the only thing keeping me with froyo is the music app If we can get the stock music app onto a htc rom then all the better
HTC music app = EPIC FAIL!
You should just be able to push the apk for the stock music player onto the device I think, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to remove the HTC player first.
Will give it a go with the Music Mod one first.
Just installed the music mod update.zip and it seems to work fine alongside the HTC music app. Does seem a little slow, but still quicker than the HTC app.
Will see what it's like with BT headsets on the way home from work later.
Yes guys,
confirm this works,
deleted the htcmusic.apk and replaced it with the music app from CM 5.06
signed it and et voilla
Should I be able to remove the HTC Music apk from recovery via adb?
just rename it .bak
and push the music.apk
also rename the htcmusicwidget.apk, inspect the rom to see what files you have to rename,
or you could just do what i did and delete the files from the rom and add the music.apk from cm 5.06 and resign the rom and flash it I also flashed the nexus unlock screen as well
I have a rom already made if you want to flash it, its based on Pays bravesoul 1.9
JD
Can't be bothered re-flashing , but I can't seem to get into /system/app/ from recovery?
I can cd into system, but can't cd into app?
I would just reflash
I have just built a ROM based on PaYs 1.9 Brave Soul, with the stock music player and stock lockscreen, i also tried to get ASOP messenger working but failed;(
Take a look over at the dev section
JD
Managed to sort it out now, there's a guide on Monaco on how to do it.
Thanks for your help though

Haven't tried by adb, I just downloaded the update.zip and flashed that via recovery mode. Have you tried it that way?

I will give that a try thanks
Alright so I have a D2 running the latest Fission rom(2.2.2) and I want to install so of the apps from the stock rom back it, but I am not sure how to. Right now I am trying to put back DLNA(two files) via root explorer by adding in the systems/app folder, but no dice. I even marked the appropriate check marks in properties of both apk per instructed in another thread, but again no dice.
The other app I want maybe a little harder as I was told it may require the MotoBlur framework and stuff. I want to install the Audio enhancement apk which adds some eq presets on to many motoblur devices(I know the Droid X, Defy, and Milestone have it). Is there anyway I can have this installed, or do I have to be stuck using the laggy MotoBlur?
Finally think I want installed is the a different stock browser. I am right now using the stock browser, but not really liking how it looks or works. I previously came from the Eris(Hero), which had a customized stock browser, where in the menu there was back and front arrows(while I only have front, and have to use the hardware back to move back a page). I'd like to know is there anyway I can install the HTC or Samsung browser, which is essentially just a themed stock Android browser, or does that also require their respective frameworks(Sense, and Touchwiz)? Thank you.
Anyone please?
I have a Droid X, and I am also looking for dlna, and a different stock browser help would be appreciated.
anyone please?
I an having a problem with the stock browser. It is not opening.when I go to open it, the screen turns white as if the phone is about to open it, but then it closes and goes back to my home. I was going to clear the browser data with titanium backup but I don't see it as an option. Thanks

Try Settings > Applications > Manage applications > select the tab that says "All" > find Browser.apk, select it, then hit clear data.
You can clear the data by going to settings>applications>manage apps the just hold down on browser and clear data.. but honestly I would downlod miren or opera browser the stock one is just awful
EDIT: screw you overstew you beat me too it lol

Ok I tried that but it still isn't working. I am on srf 1.11. And yes, I have dolphin browser but I like the stock app for some things.

Have you flashed a theme over it? It's possible that the theme contains an unfriendly no-ciq browser app. (in other words, you may need to reflash and try again). SRF 1.1.1 is working great for me on the browser.
Im having the same issue with my browser running SRF 1.1.1 as well, when I first flashed it, it was working perfectly but a few hours later I get that same white screen and then it closes, I PMed qbking77 about this issue waiting for his relpy, but any help would be great
I have this same issue :
I am running SRF 1.1.0 with the [THEME][EC05][4/26/11]Honeycomb Fusion 2.0 /+Addons! (SRF/Bonsai/midNight compatible)
Going to extract the browser apk from the ROM when I get home, and see if that solves it
So here is the quick fix that qbking77 gave me, reflash the rom without wiping anything, worked for me and my stock browser works again, and still have all my apps working great
I had the same problem. What I ended up doing was downloading another rom (simply aosp) ad extracting the browser using root explorer. Via root explorer I then went to system > apps > changed the system mount from r/w to r/o deleted the browser.apk that was in srf 1.1.1 and copied the simply aosp browser over. It has worked fine ever sense. Of course you can always just find a copy of the browser.apk without dl a rom and extracting. But that's just what I did. Clearing data never seemed to work for me, nor did reflashing the rom. Hope that helps.

He wouldn't need to flash, just push the stock browser to system

I'm finding it pretty hard to move over to an AOSP based rom because of the lack of some really amazing features of the Stock LG rom. Most have been ported over to AOSP but I haven't seen anything on the Wireless Storage option that creates a network share to send/receive files to/from the device with ease.
Anyone know what app does this and if it'll work on AOSP roms?
Update: Found apk in /system/app.
Have You tried SSHDroid?
Did anybody test this apk?
If you search for "smb server" in the Play Store, the first couple of results look like they might work. I haven't tried either of them.
Also, simply posting an APK here from a stock ROM isn't likely to work, since it's probably odexed (if there is a corresponding *.odex file where you found the *.apk file, that's what I mean). Not to mention, it probably depends on other system libraries.
