Hey all,
I'm running the latest CM7 nightly. Anyone have any idea how to send "Unavailable" caller id's directly to voicemail? I've been getting calls at all hours of the night and they never talk when I answer. Not even getting the pleasure of telling them off!
Thanks,
PhilyT
I believe Google voice can handle this but that's if you want to integrate.
mr number will
CM7 has a built in blacklist also, not sure if that helps any with unknown callers.

It won't help with unknown or blocked numbers. It works awesome on the numbers that aren't blocked though. I had this lady that would call my phone all the time asking for her brother or something, even after telling her she had the wrong number, she would call right back as soon as I hung up. She called me literally like 15 times in a row one morning at like 6am, and I couldn't turn my phone off because I use it as my alarm clock. God I wish I knew about CM7's blacklist feature sooner.
I don't have that rom, but I use an app called "Call Control"
Has a blacklist option, as well as automatically block unknown and blocked id numbers
Thanks guys. I was hoping there was something built in that I was missing, but apparently not. Oh well. Even Android can't be perfect

I'm not exactly sure what or who the culprit is here.
Phone is rooted with JF 1.42,
but 2-3 times a day, my phone would ring once and when I look, it's a missed call from my own number!
Anyone else have this issue?
i myself havent had this problem but a friend of mine has said the same thing. i was like lay off the feel good smoke. but i guess he was for real. does anyone know what could be causing this?
Either you need to stop hanging up on yourself, or someone is spoofing the callerID.

could it be an app? use advanced task manager to view running apps and services running, and use it to close the apps you dont need, see if it continues, im also using rooted jf 1.42 rc33 and ive never had this issue, give us a list of your apps, there is also a program available that gives you a log of what the apps are doing that you cant see, that might help as well if you narrow it down.
if you cant fix it this way maybe downloading bratags call blocker and adding your own number to it would work, its kind of a cheap way to get around it, but if all else fails then...
Call blocking yourself. I laughed at the most rediculious things!

You are absolutely right. I noticed it and I found some of the calandering apps that I downloaded for testing are periodically accessing the phone, I don't know why and I could not figure out which because I had a lot of apps installed for testing. So I decided to uninstall every 3rd party app and see and that did the trick.
--Ram--
I don't perticularly have that many apps installed. I also don't try and uninstall a lot of apps.
These are the apps I have:
Hot Giggity!
Alkaline
Pkt Auctions eBay
Bubble
Astro File Manager
ShopSavvy (with the location thing turned off)
Finance
FastBright
AK notepad
Txtract
Labyrinth Lite
PapiJump
Task Manager
Ringdroid
Video Player
ApkInstaller
I didn't have any missed calls from me yesterday, but i had one already today.
Then the strangest thing happened.
My number is 733-xxxx
After the missed call from me... a second later i got a call from a number that also started with 733.... ... I answered and no one said anything...and then i called back and said I got a missed call from this number and the lady said wrong number.
how does phone number spoofing work?

if im correct its VOIP, but not from your phone, the way SPOOFAPP works is that there service calls you, using VOIP (which can be set to display almost any number) and so your phone rings with the number you wish to have your phone call as, then when you answer and press 1, it then confrence calls another person, also displaying the number that called you, since its the service making the call (your phone never makes a call, you only answer a call and are connected) and then the person on the other end sees the incomming number as what the service says it is, and it stays muted while you talk, making it appear as if your phone number isnt what it is, when really its the service who is calling not you
if someone is using this app, they can NOT call your number from your number, the app wont allow it (ive tried), i can not call 555-0123 as 555-0123, nor can i call as 911 and so on
not to say that other companys out there wont do this, but spoofapp will NOT

well how often do you call yourself from your own phone number? the only time youd do that is to take the long way to your voicemail
therfor the only other time a incoming call would be YOUR number, is when there isnt supposed to be a incoming call
therfor, callblocking yourself, would work imo
such a difficult concept
ok... weird
just had 4 missed calls from a 733-xxxx number and 1 from 733-yyyy number..... and one from myself.
What gives.... calling t-mobile but not sure what they're gonna say or do.
someone must be using an app called spoof123
Oh i know why this happens! You have the Voicemail callback service enabled!
Normally, when someone leaves you a message, all you get is a text message. Now, the voice mail computer calls you, you pick up and it'll tell you how many voice messages you have.
If you don't pick up, you have a missed call from your own number.
its so freaky =..=
Hi.
Looks like I got a stalker of some sort. I keep getting unkown caller every 30 mins or so. If I pick up no one answers. And since it's unknown number I can't really have it blocked from TMO side.
Is there an app to block unwanted callers? Or even just those with unknown or hidden numbers?
Thanks! This is driving me nuts already.
Magiccall works great for this.
"Call Firewall" does this although you might still get partial rings.....one thing you can do is make a silent ringtone or download one from net and save it to contact list as "Private" or "Unknown" or whatever is displayed....then at least you would not hear them ring.
Ok, I used to have an app installed on my phone that not only would block calls that i chose (by number) but it gave me the option for an error message to be played for the caller. I had it set to say "your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and dial again." Now I cannot find this app, does anyone know what it is? Please help, thanks.
Jason
Not the app you're looking for, but I use aFirewall and it blocks calls. It just sends them to Voice mail, but if you have Google Voice you can set it up to send them to a really obnoxious voice mail message.
Yea, I had that, but the app I had before literally made the caller think your number had been disconnected. It was sweet.
cm6 rc2 has a blacklist in call settings, works just fine.

Yes, this works also, but it doesn't redirect to voicemail. It just outright end the call.
back to my main question, blacklisting is not the thing wanted, it is the message played to the caller, "your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and dial again.
I had an app that allowed the user to chose the message the caller hears, another option was the...beep...beep...beep...beep tone.
It was sweet.
I would be interested in finding the name of this app... I'll keep an eye on this thread.
Done tonnes of searching and can't find what you mean.
If you do find it please send me a PM, sounds class

I'm pretty sure Google Voice does this, When I was reading the GV FAQ awhile back I remember thinking what a really cool function of GV it was. On the downside I believe GV has to be your primary number though, not positive, you might wanna check it out.

Google voice does let you set a specific number to get a disconnected message.
It does require for you to use google voice as your voicemail, but it does not need to replace your current number.
i've used this feature and it is quite effective. for maximum effect just set the option within your phone book to send the caller directly to voicemail.
your phone will not even ring.
Easybusy
I think you talking about easybusy. I use it and have my phone set to forward calls to a fake number like 555-555-5555. One problem, I'm currently testing the new energy rom and now my easybusy software will not work.
I'm baffled how to block calls and numbers on the Moto x pure/style can anyone help me please ?

I'm quite possibly wrong about this but I believe that if you update to the most recent version of the "Phone" app there is now a setting which allows you to select a phone number which has called your phone and then choose to block the number in the future.

From what I saw on my Nexus 5X now running 7.0 (which I bought this summer after frustrations with my MotoX and lack of regular security and feature pack updates), it does appear the native phone dialer app in Nougat has the ability to flag calls to be blocked and/or "reported as spam" back to Google... With the MotoX on 6.0 today, however, unless you use Google Voice/Hangouts (and Google delivering the incoming call instead), I don't see how Google can block calls before they ring on your device today. That being said, Google is hopefully working on a solution (speculation on my part) to have the native phone app do a "spam check" when it receives and incoming call (even from a carrier) on the device before it treats the calls as legit and notifies you (rings)... In theory, if millions of Android users start reporting spam phone numbers, Google should have a decent database to check against. This is the concept behind apps like Truecaller in the PlaySTore, but BE CAREFUL with those: they require your consent to copy ALL your contacts into their cloud and add them as "safe" (real) callers for everyone!
The real problem with spam calls in the US today is the open nature of the SIP transport protocol implementations all carriers are now using in their networks... Caller Line ID info is spoofed on the fly (by the call originator) to appear to be coming from a legit area and exchange you make calls in/from. THIS is extremely difficult to defend against on a device by only being able to look at CLID to make a decision on allow/deny of call. If carriers spent more effort screening the calls being put on their network (i.e. ensuring the CLID is legit for the originating source IP), they could get a better handle on the current spam crisis IMHO...
Never needed to use an app before, so you can't do it with the phone itself?

Sorry, just noticed you aren't in the US... Not sure if the UK has the same spoofed CLID problem that we currently do over here... As the other poster also said, newer versions of the natuve phone app offer some protection against the same number ringing through a 2nd time (once you block it)... However, as long as the "bad guys" can keep changing the # they appear to be calling from EVERY time they call you, there really isn't any point in screening incoming calls based solely on the originating number...
My wife has hundreds of "blocked" callers listed in her iPhone yet she still gets (new) spam callers every day... Is anyone really shocked that scummy telemarketers have resorted to "SIP-hacking" to stay ahead of efforts to block their "real" number?

At the moment it's the same 2 numbers that I have to ignore , with my other phone you could turn the phone over to shut it up so wasn't a problem or add the number as a contact and block it but I can't do either with this phone

As long as the feature isn't removed by Lenovorola in the Nougat version the MotoX is announced to receive, you should very easily be able to do it right in the newer phone app I saw in 7.0...
Hi folks,
Today I'm getting calls every 5-10 minutes from assorted spoofed numbers similar to my own number, "Olivia from Apple Support" trying to scam my iCloud information from me. Hahah. I don't have one. Nonetheless the numerous calls and voicemails are annoying. I tried to find "Block unknown callers" but haven't found that option in the Phone app... settings... blocking settings. Where is the option to block any unknown caller these days? 6T, totally up to date stock phone.
