Not so random reboot - Galaxy 3 General

My phone for reasons unknown reboots every time I uninstall or uninstall an app and sometimes when it get stuck and lags like no tomorrow...
Running on 4.3 indroid darkfroyo (this used to happen on kyrillos 5.7too)
Fugumod 2.43 beta standard
Class 2 2gb SD card
Partitioned SD card using cwm recovery
System = rfs
Cache = ext2
Data = ext4
Changed using indroid fact app
Anyone know anything about this?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App

Happens also to me on stock bojpc

What it should b..
/system ext4
/data ext4
/cache ext2
It s laggin due to rfs file system in /system..

It used to be ext4
But I found my phone runs faster when system is rfs
And my main problem is the reboots..

anything in particular you do that causes this?
If i could re-produce this i could solve it..Else not.
For lags make sure to disable sensor aiding

you partitioned using CWM which creates ext3 partition not ext4..
So you need to re-part your partition using Minitool to ext4..
Then factory reset and select ext4 for data in Indroid FSC app

nothing bad happens..
Its just the difference of filesystem
IF you want to use ext3 as data then using Indroid FSC app select ext3 as data

In the newest versions of G3Mod you can have all filesystems. So no need to revert back to rfs, you can just flash!
Happy flashing!
It was only for the early version. You can flash kernel at any file system you want.

Unfortunately, I converted to the RFS (by FuguMod), and now... What file system is best?

Now I'm using (and as I think almost everyone would tell you round here xD):
System (stl6) -> ext2
Data (stl7) -> ext4
Cache (stl8) -> ext2
And I'm having a great performance (no freezes, almost no lags...). But if you want to, you can try with all the combinations you want and see how it performs

With G3Mod Kernel, all you have to do is create a file named "fs.convert", put it in /sdcard/Android/data/g3mod/ and reboot
In fs.convert file you have to put:
Code:
stlX file_system_type
Where X is the partition number and file_system_type is, well, you know XD.
If you want to convert various partitions in a row, it should be like this:
Code:
stlX file_system_type
stlY file_system_type
stlZ file_system_type
Remember:
Code:
stl6 -> /system
stl7 -> /data
stl8 -> /cache
For example, let's say I want to convert /system to ext4. So i create the file and write this in it:
Code:
stl6 ext4
Reboot, and done

In terminal emulator (or adb shell), run the command "mount" and it will list all partition with it's respective format and mount options. Just look for the partitions you want to check

A Little problem!!
I flashed the kernel G3 mod Lite and installed the g3mod app by Dumpy and modified the file systems as said. After that I'm not able to see my partition. I was previously using Fugumod 2.4 beta3 and i had my sd card partitioned using Minitool. But now i can't see my partition even in Titanium BackUp. When changing file systems using g3mod app, i didn't change anything in mmcblk0. It was left as "rfs". Do i need to change it to something else? Thanks.
P.s. Do i need to activate data2sd?I didn't as I was already using App2sd by kyrillos and after this conversion i lost all my user apps. and my phone's free internal memory is now just 85MB. Previously it was 145MB.

How is your mmcblk0 rfs?? It should be ext3 or ext4.
Ah! It was not. I forgot to change it to ext3 or ext4. When using g3mod app i changed the file systems but left my mmcblk0 as rfs. Now I can't access my memory card using My files. And in "SD Card and Storage" menu it says "unavailable".Any suggestions? Would it work if i flashed g3 kernel and used the app again to change my mmcblk0 to ext3 or ext4?

Ya. Try to change SD partition to ext4 using the app. Still confused how did mmcblk0 became rfs?? . Try the app again and see if it works.

The app shows all partitions as rfs by default.. As he said he left mmcblk as it is and changed the others.. Hence the partition got converted to rfs
Quick Question.. If i'm using g3mod app, should i activate data2sd when i'm changing the file systems?

Partitioning the SD Card? [HELP]

Hi guys!
I'm getting crazy....I'm using MiniCM7-2.1.9 + nAa kernel v11 on my X8.
But if i try to create ext4 and swap partitions on the SD card....android tell me: "it's possible to remove the SD card" and it won't mount it!
I have created: -1.4 GB partition (FAT32) (Primary)
-0.5 GB partition (EXT4) (Primary)
-70 MB partition (SWAP) (Primary)
Why it won't work?
How I can fix it?
Well, since you SD card is 2GB, try FAT instead FAT32. Partition and reboot. I have the same error, but one reboot solves.
Or make partitions on pc...have a lot off free programs for that

OK,tnx.
I've found another easy way, in CMW>ADVANCED>PARTITION SD CARD.
It seems work without errors, but I have a question, how i can install apps on the ext partition now?
I've in cyanogen Settings:
Application>Allow Application moving (enabled)
Application>Install Location (what should I select? automatic, external or internal?)
Performance>A2SD (ext) Settings> A2SD mode selected (is it correct?)
Or make partitions on pc,its easy

[Q] Using Link2sd in jellyblast

hey someone please tell me how can i use link2sd in JELLBLAST V3.0.1
IT shows that the sd-ext can't be mounted.
Please solve this problem
I have attached the image.
1) Try setting the mount script partition to ext2/ext3/ext4 and see if anyone of them makes the mount successful (it doesnt matter with which partition it mounts with)
2) Did you partition your sd card correctly? Mention more about how you did it..

I used Minitool partition wizard home edition to partition my sd card. set the partition as fat32...didnt really like the idea and after trying a new rom, and going back to jellyblast v3.01, i removed several apps(link2sd included) by uninstalling them through titanium backup, and then used install manager v3.5.1 to move my apps to my unpartitioned sd card
I partioned my sd card using minitool...
Kuro kernel supports link2sd or i shud reformat my sd card....???

kuro kernel supports link2sd,my expirience first partition as fat32,second as ext2-3 using minitool,no problem,no need for reformat or something in cwm.
Jelly blast has kuro kernel, it supports Link2sd, dont use mini tool, it complicates things, make it the easy way, go to CWM -> Advanced-> Partition SD card -> Give 2nd partition space-> swap as 0 and then wait till it get partitioned, now try mounting ext3 in link2sd, it must work
Thank u sir....i will try it

It's actually easy to install.
First install the basic version. The (60 I think)
Then combine the last two kernel rar files.
Then flash.

The post is actually not aligned properly which makes people confuse.
Just download savies kernel rev 73 modded by Ronnie (just look for the same title which is a download able link).
Copy it and Cwm by mad team or skin to sd card, go to recovery mode, first flash Cwm zip, and then flash the kernel zip, it shows a aroma installer, click default installation there, restart and done, check if you got 4 io s and 18 governors, if not flash again, this time choose custom installation and select all things, reboot and it will stick

Wait, after flashing savies kernel, you get a permanent CWM, in which you need to click mount/system in mounts and storage option EVERYTIME you flash a zip, either it be a ROM/Kernel/Anything, ALWAYS mount/system when using savies kernel CWM

Using root explorer go to /cache and delete all in it.. If it still gives 4.x mb used 31 mb free then it is ext4 formatted
Or flash a kernel with no ext4 support like whitexp or your hells fusion.. If your phone boots up then you are definitely not on an ext4 system

Link2sd / foldermount not working

Morning all,
I'm having the usual issues with internal space on my (rooted) s5360. I have tried:
Foldermount - won't work because /data/data isn't seen.as being on the internal SD card?!?
Link2sd - works on a fat/fat sd card only, then after reboot says "invalid argument" and won't mount. I've used Easus, Minitool and CWM to partition, but to no avail.
Directorybind - doesn't see any folders in /data
Are there any other ways to move / symlink monster apps like games and facebook to my SD?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app
With link2sd you need a kernel that can support ext4 partitions
steps to follow if on stock based rom
flash hells fusion #50 kernel
copy contents of sd card to pc
goto recovery mode on phone
in cwm partition sd card with at least 1024mb ext partition
swap is not required
restart phone
open link2sd
create mount script as ext4
Restart
Open link2sd & check 2nd partition now shows
copy everything back to sd card
restart
Having had to restore with Odin after messing about with kernels / roms (I need to run stock rom to avoid phone nework cutoff) I'm not keen on this approach.
I can't see why l2sd would work after a reboot with ext4 when it won't with fat.
Is there no other app that can be used as an alternative?
What about manually creating symlinks?

Because it needs kernel support
you won't have any problems running stock rom with hells fusion #50 kernel as long as you are not using DDMD1 baseband as that requires a different ramdisk
Install REPENCIES ROM PLUS REPENCIES KERNAL it has all support u need.
U cank also use darktremer app2sd . Its much better then link2sd & can transfer delvink also to sd.
Seach xda you will find everything
Thank you for helping me
