[Q] ps3 usb etc... - Eee Pad Transformer General

so i am trying figure out why there is not hardware for transformer other than the whole dock thing which i don't think i can pay that much for it, but i was wondering is there a ac to usb cord we have yet or is the only way to get usb to work is through the dock cause i would like to play some emulation games on t.f. however i am lacking the dock and like the feel of a real controller.

emulation
i had no problem connecting a wiimote to my transformer with snes9x to play old school snes games. wasn't my wiimote so i didnt have time to try other emulators (sega,nes,n64,etc). obviously not the same as using a ps360 controller, but then again there are very very few games that support that anyway.
there is also an adapter asus is supposed to release that converts their special dock port into a real usb port, but unfortunately there is little to no info on it and probably not going to see it any time soon. Samsung was nice enough to release an adapter for their new tablets when they launched, not sure what the deal is with asus.

I use the datel wireless controller, works great for me! Of course there is the extra cost of the controller but it has all the needed buttons for 64 or psx

Asus is betting you'll buy the dock.
Dock and tablet, it's only 50 bucks more than the new Galaxy Tab.

[News] Actual Playstation Games Could Soon Be Running On Our HD2s

Soon Sony Ericsson are planning on bringing the Xperia Play into the Android World,It runs Gingerbread but according to GSM Arena,The actual Playstation Suite and store could be avalible on all Droids Running Gingerbread. If thats the case we may be able to play PS on our HD2s Soon,Be ideal Playing them with our Lovely Big 4.3 Inch Screens

Pretty much an official endorsed psx4droid then
Personally I'm very happy with PSX4Droid. If Sony's software beats it, then that's good, but otherwise I'm quite happy!!
LOL, don't get your hopes too high man, doubt our HD2 can be "PlayStation Certified" by Sony, being an unofficial android device, probably get locked out from the PS store
But still, official PS emulator.. arghh
Unfortunately our hd2s aren't going to have the nice slide out playstation controller like that phone does.
I'm about to transfer the insides of the msi bluetooth controller into a super nintendo controller and try to modify it to attach to my hd2 somehow. I'll post pictures of it once I finish it. It's a shame no manufacturer has released a decent bluetooth controller that can attach to smartphones yet. Even the old msi controllers are nearly impossible to find anymore... I had to pay $80 to get a used one from ebay.... it'll be worth it if this modified snes controller turns out good.

Seems much cheaper to me to buy a Wii controller off Ebay for $10.00. Just use that in conjunction with Wiimote Controller from the Market and voila, you've got a great joypad for any xxxDroid emulator.

The wii controller doesn't have as many buttons... the snes controller is setup just like a ps1 controller so its perfect for psx4droid. The wii controller is really thick and big, too, and it won't be as easy to modify to attach to the phone as easily and be confortable to hold. My idea with attaching the snes controller to the phone is gonna make it really nice and portable... it'll attach to the phone in landscape so it will look similar to the new playstation phone , except the controller will be removeable and i'm gonna try to make it universally attachable to any phone, so i can use it still if i get a new phone.
Also, I don't think the wii controller will work with sense builds unless they solved that issue.

I suspect we'll be able to play games that are written with a subset of the Playstation gaming SDK. It's obviously not gonna let us play games of the quality that you find on the console. It'll probably be like the Xbox Live games that you can play on WP7. You're never gonna play something the quality of Halo 3 on there, just like we're never gonna play Killzone 3.

Xbox 360 controller support? *UPDATE - Testers needed!*

I'm curious, with USB hosting how possible is it that someone will be able to create a driver to get an Xbox 360 controller working on the Xoom? I'm thinking a wired controller of course, but if one could get the PC wireless receiver working as well, that would be pretty cool too.
I found this ROM for the Elocity A7 in which the developer seems to have gotten it all working pretty well, including the wireless receiver. I would absolutely LOVE to play some emulators with the Xbox 360 controller!
So, what do you guys think, doable?
*Update (see post 17): Member thegeektern needs some help testing a kernel he's working on to get this working. He doesn't have the host USB cable or the wired controller yet. I'll be ordering the two shortly and will help if nobody else has already by the time they arrive.

If the interface is there, USB controllers, its doable. Drivers are a pain in the butt. At least for me. But I would rather focus on getting something like a mouse working first.
Don't know if this was done anywhere else before, but there is an eLocity rom that has this capability. Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923801
EDIT: err...nevermind...just reread OP and saw that you already linked the thread so nevermind
That would be ridiculously amazing. What would be even better is if it was wireless, but I doubt that is a possibility.

If they got the USB controller to work, maybe the devs could get the USB dongle to work as well:

Yeah, I'm guessing once somebody gets just the regular wired controller working, getting the wireless receiver working as well wouldn't be that difficult. I'm not that bothered about that though. I'm not going to be far enough away to need wireless and if I have to plug the receiver in any way that's not much different than just plugging the controller in.

I have the datel and it works flawlessly with the xoom. Worth every penny!

FYI I have the wireless receiver and it draws a lot of power from the USB port - more than the allotted 500ma - and it got some notoriety for causing problems on systems that were not capable of providing the extra power. On my system, for example, it knocked out the audio when plugging it in, because the audio was actually USB internally.
So it may not be so great on a Xoom.
However, I agree that it would be truly awesome to get at least wired controllers working!
Could this problem be fixed using a powered USB hub, I wonder? Just more things to plug in, of course. I really would like to see at least the wired controller working, though!

Unfortunately when my house was robbed a few weeks back they took my old wired controller, so I need to buy a new one. Also, been waiting to get the host cable until I had a reason (this is it).
Just purchased another wired controller and the host cable. Unfortunately the estimated arrival from Hong Kong is April 8 - April 21... Hopefully someone is able to help test before that.
I have the wireless reciever, and 4 controllers and 2 head sets I can test that with if you guys want to try to get that working. I get the wifi xoom on sunday.

OnLive player app now available

Oh yeh, you can now actually PLAY the games and the Xoom is officially supported. Touch controls are a bit dodgy so i was kinda hoping some clever person might get PS3 or Xbox controllers working but until then the official wireless controller is due out very soon.
Anyway, get it here: http://t.co/BIFyGpDR and enjoy.

Yeah, i'm gonna see if I can get the ps3 controller working with it, that would be awesome =]
My wired 360 controller through an OTG cable worked perfectly. This is a huge deal. Played split second and it looked great, lag wasn't an issue, I am impressed.
Got the app, we'll see what comes of this. Touchscreen is gonna have to go for me, not a fan of touchscreen controls especially when there's physical controller options. Tried a Saitek 6 button and a PS2 controller/adapter through the OTG... both let me use the analog stick and d-pad but no other buttons. Looks like it's time to bite the bullet and get the wired 360 controller.
Does the 360 controller work with navigating the menus, pausing and all that? And does the Xbox button do anything with OnLive?

Yeah it has full functionality built in with the wired controller. When you press the Xbox button it brings up the Onlive menu. It works REALLY well honestly
I'm guessing that OnLive will cotton on to that eventually and release an update to make all controllers except their own incompatible.
Having said that, has anyone tried using a wired controller with the USB adaptor that let's you use it with a PC? I'm guesting that only works with drivers but still......
The app actually runs ok when using my MiFi which i was surprised at. Although with a ping of anything over 70ms the controller lag gets a bit annoying.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
After a few days with the app I'm pretty impressed. I gave the $10 a month plan a try so I could really get a good idea (plus compare against the PC version.)
The wired 360 controller works flawlessly and I agree, I could see them blocking the non-OnLive controller once it's released, or if they were smart after a little more adoption. The flawlessness goes away once you fire a game up though. There was some lag, and trying to play a couple multi-player shooters was dreadful. Playing these same games on the PC with the same controller was a noticeable improvement (of course, but just pointing that out).
Games look great on the Xoom but when I run it to the TV it's pretty low quality. Tried a few TVs, went through all kinds of TV settings, nothing made it look any better than PSX quality. Actually some PSX games have looked better on tube TVs to me. Could be a Xoom limitation, version 1 of the app, or a little of both. I could do without the mirroring on my tablet.
Sweet, Borderlands is included in the $10/month plan! Oh wait, here's a message that it won't run on tablets...
OnLive has some work to do with this, but it's very ambitious and I'm 100% behind this idea. They'll have some challenges now since they've gone to having a micro-console and PC/Mac apps to also having multiple Android tablets and phones and Apple tablets and phones. As far as this app on the Xoom, I would hold off on spending money with OnLive until the app gets a little better.
i like snes via ps3 controller on xoom - hooked up to tv - so this would be pretty nice too I bet!
Got my wired xbox controller today and it works brilliantly as previously confirmed. Just gotta hope OnLive don't go and nobble it's compatibility cos it was £25 cheaper than the official one.
Still, if they do, i can always use it with my xbox/PC......lol
Might actually buy a few play-passes now. Just gotta hope that 3 somehow manage to improve the latency on their MiFi so i can play on the go. Dreaming?

Has anyone got the Xbox 360 wireless controller to work with the OnLive app on the Xoom?
I'm using the official Motorola OTG cable with an official Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver (http://goo.gl/Rhi0q). The combination works brilliantly for emulators like SNES9X but it doesn't seem to work with OnLive. It registers the left analog stick, the start button (goes back to the Xoom home screen), and buttons A & B which seem to be the equivalent of Esc on the keyboard.
If there's no trick or an app I could use to map the controller to keyboard commands, etc. I might have to get a wired 360 controller specifically for OnLive.

FOR GAMERS WITH ICS: aftermarket controller that works with games.

Dont know if many of you guys knew, but the glow wired controllers from gamestop works fine with ics.. tried my microsoft xbox 360 controller and official sony controllers and no dice..plugged in this controller and worked instantly.. gta, shadowgun, emulators, onlive etc and they are only 30 bucks. hopes this helps a bunch of pissed people who couldnt use gamepads like me on their tabs.
Is this the controller you're talking about:
http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-afterglow-controller/77445
If not could you post a link?
Thanks.
this ics release sounds more like a down upgrade.
No way I'm going to shell out more money when I already bought the Xbox controller just for the transformer (I don't even have a Xbox)
Yes that's it (second post) but I got the ps3 version don't know if it will make a difference.

I have no issues with my PS3 controller, once I connect the USB cord to the Dock and press the PS3 button.
However games like shadowgun play a little akward, so I setup custom keys using usb/bt joystick center. It takes a bit to configure everything, but once you do it works excellent.

N7 2nd gen -- controllers?

So, I sold my first gen N7 and my 2nd gen is in the mail.
My question is this: what are my options for hooking up a controller?
I have read that the Bluetooth no longer supports Wii and ps3 controllers.
What about wiring one through an otg cable? Like a 360 wired controller?

Can you provide a source for blue tooth incompatibility? Nothing should have changed and they would be stupid to have disabled that feature. OTG should still be viable.

Crap, my bad. Didn't see an N7.2 forum ... Hopefully a mod will move it for me.
I don't have the source at the moment, but I read a q&a from another thread here saying Bluetooth was no longer viable after 4.3.

I've only used PSX, PS2, and original Xbox controllers so far (yes, original Xbox, great for N64 emulation, just cut off the tip and splice a regular USB cable on) and they all worked, but the Xbox controller sadly had major input lag (like 4 full seconds).

You might not be interested in buying another, separate, controller; but, of you don't mind, the Moga Pro controller is fantastic. It has a very premium feel to it, and very much so reminds me of a Xbox 360 controller. Its compatible with all of the major apps. Plus, the ones that it isn't compatible with, you can set up for yourself.
They also have fantastic customer support. I picked up my Flo on launch day. The Moga Pivot application wasn't running, so I emailed them. Within two days they had sent out an update and thanked me for letting them know. Also, its fully wireless. So none if that OTG stuff, and you can use it on your phone.

The OEM ps3 using Bluetooth? And with what app?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I would recommend a PS3 controller. It has been the best controller I've ever used on Android. I have been through them all. I have a Moga Original, and its great for on the go but lacks a D-Pad. I have an Ouya controller, but it's clunky D-Pad is similar to the 360's. WiiMotes (which don't work currently) are great but lacks the button count to play anything other then NES emulators. The Moga, Ouya, 360, WiiMote, and PS3 all have good battery life. Other controllers typically suck the juice and have bad button feedback or otherwise cheaply made. Don't waste your money on anything other then the above noted.
The PS3 has a great DPad and quality. Batteries last a long time, buttons feel great, response time is flawless, connects directly to the Tablet (no dongle like 360).
The Moga is iffy. Seems to be effected with delayed response when using the Moga Pairing app, which is required for the second analog support and for launching games so they pick up on the controls. Controls aren't bad but if you play something like Mario or Sonic, you'll feel the controls are slightly "off". Still a great controller for on-the-go. I haven't tried the Moga on the new N7 yet, they may have fixed this lag.
The PS3 controller is also probably one of the cheaper controllers you can find. I picked up a White PS3 DualShock from Gamestop for $29 new. The PS3 also has the greatest amount of support. It plays reliably across all of my devices, where the others are hit and miss.
The app required is the SixAxis Pairing app from the Play Store. Some custom roms build in this driver and the controller can connect natively, but for the most part, you would use the app. Benefits of the app also include the ability to map buttons to touchscreen overlay controls for games that do not support gamepads.

Note: You must be rooted and use a PC to change the pairing address of the controller to that of your Nexus 7. They provide a free PC utility to do that.
