[Q] ROM with little battery drain ? - XPERIA X8 General

What ROM should i use for little battery drain ?

3 days with 20% right now using froyobread. Normal use, WWW little gamING calls and sms. With floyo i got the same
Sent from my X8 using XDA Premium App

I have the WIFI connection problem with the FroyoBread, i mean i can't connect to wireless networks...but i will sacrifice if the ROM is not draining so much battery.

Mine has some issue in floyobread v12 battery drain...but over all its a best custom rom that i try from many others...but if can make it very less drain in battery it would be 100%..

please update info with last roms...which is best battery drain rom at the moment? gingerDXv15, GingerXperiav007 or gingerCyBorgv003?are froyo-based roms cheaper on battery than gingerbread-based roms?

i'm using fxp rom with their oc'ed kernel and i lost only 4% in cca 14 hours

which one is fxp?

I used gingercyborg yesterday so far the battery is good but some bugs i encounter. Today im using gingerdx v15 is installed the module of dx. I used smart ass gov.. so far i have problem in battery draining.

ROM & Kernel with the best battery life?

Hi, so far the only rom I have used is CM6, and the battery life is just absolutely terrible. Maybe its just my nexus, maybe not, point is I want a new ROM.
A ROM that you guys have tried and decided to stick to.
Battery life is VERY important to me.
Try IntersectRaven's CFS kernel, best I have found for CM
For ROM try Enomther, battery life pretty good on that one

I had been using CM 6 for a while and just recently switched over to Enomether's latest TheOfficial ROM. The battery life is now DRAMATICALLY better. Just looking over the Juice Plotter graphs shows that the standby time overnight is almost flat. Say 3-4% drop every 3 hours or so. With CM6, the battery level is on a constant and steeper decline, even when not in use. I didn't take any records, but my N1 on CM6 would be down to ~45-50% overnight if I forget to plug in the charger (from full). I heard that SetCpu will help, but I don't think it worked out for me.
Enomether has its own CPU Governor and while it doesn't offer as many features as SetCPU - the ROM's default settings work well right out of the box - no tweaking is needed really for the CPU governor.
I too was having really poor battery life with CM6, losing about 50% within 8 hours after charge, without even using the phone much! I'm trying out other roms right now just for fun. I'm using Evil's Nxsense but with the kernal posted by Autinhyeu (post # 8541 in that thread). So far seems to be holding battery extremely well. About 5 hours since charge and about 90% battery.
LeoFroYo Rom is pretty good with battery
try the leofroyo rom latest beta. i get great battery in standby with the stock kernal that it comes with. 2.5 hrs per 1% battery. typically in a day making calls and using the internet, i lose about 30%-25% battery. not too bad.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693595
2.0.1 beta 3 is the latest version that i'm using

cm sucks when it comes to battery life in my experience. i tried the 6.0 version when it came out (first stable release) and battery life was horrible.
5 hours since charge? only standby or some usage?

That was mostly standby with setcpu profile setting cpu to minimum when the screen was off. But even with those same settings on CM6 my battery would be about 70% after the same amount of time.
I just reflashed cm6 but with that other kernal so I'll see how well it works today.
MIUI has the best battery life of any ROM I've used on my N1.. idle drain of about .5% / hour when using pershoot's kernels from droidbasement.
I'm using shadow rom2.1 stripped down and I get about 16 to 18 hours usage.

I'm using CM6 and my battery life is great. I got rid of my Seidio extended battery to get an Otterbox case and the stock battery on CM6 is awesome.
My phone has been off the charger since before 1pm and now at midnight its on 46% and thats with heavy use of Angry Birds, text, emails and web browsing !
My battery life is also acceptable on cm6. Not amazing but acceptable. Then again I put mine in airplane mode overnight and get about a 4% drain, which I kind assume might be something to do with my Widgets.
Okay, so I decided to try one of these two ROMs:
Enomther
LeoFroYo
not sure which one yet, and not sure what kernel to use with the ROM I choose.
I hate switching ROMs cuz of the wiping and restoring and all that crap.

Easily lasts the whole day
do you guys know if the leofroyo rom will work with slcd nexus w/ updated HBOOT??
i posted in the leofroyo rom thread, but no replies yet. itching to give it a shot.

Super bad battery drain!

My galaxy was fully charged at 3 today and since then I've been checking every hour how much its dropped and its seems that by every hour it drops by 11%!!!
I'm using darkys rom v8.0 with with speed mod k12p kernel and jp5 modem. I've tried all the 'battery fixes' and they don't even at all seem to work.
So any ideas what to do...?

I'm using darkys rom v8.0
Expected battery drain read Darkys faqs .

Different Rom and Kernel? I use the standard Rom with Voodoo kernel, its fast and lasts 2 day's on one load.
What standard rom? Hmm ive tried voodoo's kernel with darkys but still bad battery drain :/ what modem do you use?
Get power tutor from the market and run it for a few days. Have you downloaded any new apps/widgets lately?
doc v7.x.x, jpy, voodoo 5.1, va orange.
Ill try that then ans Ermm not really just a few games..but then uninstalled aha
Try green power app. No need to configure much I am also on Darky 8.0 and some kernal I flashed I don't remember what
Now if I forget to charge my phone at night I don't wake up to a dead phone
Ooh I'll try that too!
Thanks
Most likely it's your email app. Try your phone without email sync for a few days. Delete all email accounts and give it a try.

If you've flashed a new rom recently that usually happens. Give it a couple of days and it should be ok. Just run it down a couple of times then it should be good.

My experience with Darky ROM is that it eats your battery very fast overall. Stopped using it. My phone's current uptime is 70 hours from last charge and still running with 3% battery with normal use. Try Doc's rom from the kitchen.
i agree.. i cooked up my own custom rom from Doc's kitchen. (xwjs3) at present. my battery life is fantastic and i abuse my phone all day everyday and charge it every 2 days.

I never sync my email so don't thinks thats the problem. :/
I think I'll just ditch darkys rom for now and wait until he releases a better version
So what rom do you suggest I use now? I mainly use my phone for the internet, music and games.
Best way to know if its darky's ROM borking your battery is to flash a stock rom and just test it for a day.

Which modem do you consider to have the best battery life? JPY? or any other modem? (for europe, germany)
Quite an amazing thing i discovered today. Was just flashing different kernels and suddenly from 20% my charge went to 60%. Wiped battery stats it came down to 10%. Flashed another kernel... Went upto 50%. Wiped battery stats remained at 50%. Now after 15 mins its down to 39%. Used kernel flasher with all the kernels on the sd card and not thru odin. Anyone any explanations? Using stock 2.2.1 jpy with Jp6 modem. tried speedmod, voodoo 6.66 and another kernel.

Which is the best battery-friendly ROM? 20.09.2011

Guys, i really like the swiftdroid ROMs but they are all battery drainers. And i cant be at home all day or at work and charge my GT540 all day. Seriously it isnt alive more than 1 day.So want to learn which rom is the best battery saving.
try 2.1 Rom ,they have a good battery life
It all depends on the conditions. Swiftdroid does use more battery life. Try to go for something lite.
2.3 is power hungry and very fast, 2.1 has very good battery life but not so fast
so..... 2.2!!!!!! stable fast good battery life!
i recommend project utopia
Get Utopia. You'll get the speed of 2.3 and battery of 2.1!

I think the battery life was normal on MoKee 0.3.1 with cosmic kernel's
And this rom is so far the fastest rom that i tried out!

Sorry my bad english, u can help me correcting it in PM.
THANKS!
i was using it on fxp122 kernel
Atto The moment this rom is the best for battery draining. I made a screenshot about battery statistics using old version. Newer is not different. In any case for great stability and long battery life i suggest fxp 121 kernel.

i have auto sync off
use wifi and not gprs/3g data
and at night i keep my cell on night mode
most importantly the governor plays a great role in battery life
i am using ondemand governor with min freq 128 and max 998
this wroks for me giving a battery life for more than a day
Guys I'm on mokee the tork with kcernel and using smartassv2 128-998. Battery life is great, but performance on these settings is faster than anything I've experienced. The cpu tends to hang around 499 or 537mhz which is okay since 128-537mhz are at 1000 mV. So no battery drain and lightning fast performance!

To callibrate battery..first completely drain the battery to about 5%, then charge the phone non stop without disturbing it till 100% and immediately remove the charger..again fully drain the battery and follow the above steps and u will get better battery life after a few cycles!
About roms..battery life does differ from rom to rom...i suggest u could check the custom kernels packed with zzmoove governor, ithat particular governor definitely improves the battery backup!
And in the above post es file explorer is eating ur battery..for that u should download greenify and hibernate apps continuously running in background!
great. I will follow your steps. one more thing. how can I know if the battery is still good or if its still holding the proper charge its suppose to have? thanks

best I can get is about 3 days standby in jb stock.
I use the 2000mAh battery is primary battery.. no big surprise to expect here, capacity is just 21% more by construction...
With wifi on, JB burns in my case about 3% in IDLE.. stock kernel.. and about 5% in 3G mode, IDLE.. then battery drains more or less fast depending on screen on, phone calls etc. I use the phone extensively for work (email sync & replies, phone calls, sms and voip) and i have to topup the battery twice or trice a day!
Have tried various custom kernels with all sort of magic to reduce battery drain.. more or less effectively.. sometimes with less stability.
Right now trying out latest dorimanx 8.27.. seems thatn IDLE with WIFI on drains around 2% per hour.. better than stock.. still not quite awesome
I miss the GB battery life.. but JB is so beautiful in comparison, I cannot go back!

Does Jb stock for you has better life or does custom rom have more? I really like the custom roms but as per observation stock rom offers more battery time. Right now I just reverted to stock rom i9100xwlss. Touchwiz really sucks. Supernexus is really beautiful but offers less battery (but I will have to try yet their latest build). Also one of the reasons for going back to stock is the camera shot quality. Custom roms really have poor camera quality. I guess when it comes to lowlight shots the stock roms are best. So much for that. Does stock rom offer more battry for you or custom rom does?

Below is a reply in some other forum by Samsung offcials regarding a specific method to Hard-Reboot your phone after a Firmware update: This method particularly helped me improve the battery life on SGS2 after 4.1.2 update.
"1. I’m sorry you are having issues with your device after upgrading the firmware. I can understand your frustration about this.
Old systems settings can be left on the phone after an update occurs, which is why we usually recommend a full factory reset after updating. If this isn’t done your device may begin to give false readings from system resources, or experience technical problems, which may explain the issue you are having.
We would advise on doing the following, which is designed to reset the settings on your device. Please back up your device using Samsung KIES before you do this.
1) Remove the battery for at least 40 minutes, put the battery back in and allow it to fully discharge. Afterwards, perform a full battery charge with the device turned off. Do not interrupt the charging process.
2) After the battery is fully charged, we would like you to perform a full factory reset, which can be done via Settings > Backup > Reset.
This process will reset your device, remove old system files that are no longer needed and enable your device to operate normally again.
Please let us know if your device continues to experience problems after the reset so we can investigate further.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Stewart

Actually I only use stock JB.. and trying to get it last longer with some custom kernels.. recently trying snapdragon rom, which is stock JB as well but with some S4 apk made compatible with S2... tried some time back omega, vanila rootbox and some other android builds for s2.. but was facing few stability issues / bugs and also missed some features that i was getting from stock rom.. so i gave up with these... now just aiming at stability and if possible battery endurance.. but not at the cost of stability.
