Samsung Galaxy S II Fastest Loading Mobile Browser Ever? - Galaxy S II General

You bet!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_4vijEfQaQ
Let's see what the iTards have to say about this! And it can do FLASH!

I wish people would stop comparing the GS2 with devices that are last generation. The only viable comparison is with other dual-core equipped phones.
Doubtless when the iPhone 5 comes out, the Apple fanbois will be crowing from the rooftops. Seriously, who the f*** cares? Blah, blah, blah.

True, true. But the iPhone 4 couldn't match the Desire, and the Desire's browser was pretty poor. Of course, that doesn't go to say that they won't majorly improve it.
But then again, there's no need. iClones are so blind, they physically won't see a slower browser, so there's no reason for Apple to really make it that much better.

It sure is! Its even faster than chrome on my lappy. Couldn't stand using the browser on my iphone. What a ****ty experience.

Engadget Nexus One Review

http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/04/nexus-one-review/
Kind of ridiculous. They wished it had a keyboard. Why don't they say that about the iPhone
I think google hasn't optimized Android for the snapdragon as well as they could have. Cyanogen needs to get his godly hands on this thing ASAP and build his kernel for it. It is simply amazing at the amount of speed he got out of a G1. I can't wait to see what he does with a snapdragon
I agree. There are features that were not discussed on the phone that blows the iPhone away. Exchange syncing etc. I love the one sided view. Like I posted before, I have a 3G iPhone as well and I think iPhone is a nice thing and 4th Gen should be good but you have to compare apples to apples. When comparing apples to androids, you have issues and miss out things. People are making a big deal about multi touch. Yeah droid does not have it either. But once cyanogen gets his hand on the kernel, that will be there.
I love Apple's devices as much as the next apple fanboy but you have to give credit where credit is due. N1 is a damn good phone. They are all good phones. Period. They all have their own pros and cons. That's that.
Why wouldn't you post this in the existing Engadget review thread? Just saying...

Thank you! I'm sick of comparisons that have no value to a vast majority of customers.
A vast majority doesn't switch carriers every month. What do I care about phone for other carriers, it's such a luxury to switch carriers, most people wait for contracts to expire before switching carriers.
I'm on Tmobile. Tmobile has few android phones and the best android phones so far have gone to sprint and verizon anyway.
On top of that, the Nexus One is being subsidized. For these reasons, to tmo customers, it's a very exciting phone. What other phone is there to be excited for on tmo? None, especially in the Android category.
How much value do these reviews have for normal users on limited budgets?

The review wasn't about android vs iphone. Thats why exchange syncing was not included since its on all android phones and probably wasn't improved on the N1 so theres no point in comparing them.
The only comparison made between the iphone was the browser speed.
And i believe the review did say the N1 was an awesome phone with a few hiccups like all phones.

I think it was because the touch buttons below the screen made it so that you always accidentally touched the buttons when composing a msg using the touchscreen keyboard.
engadget's review of the N1 was a joke. they complained about the missing 48 missing pixels that the droid had over the N1. lol seriously? its not even in-depth. Wheres the bluetooth, 3G connection, video recording... etc tests? they did a browser test of their site that many have commented to be not a good test. could've tested more sites. overall, a lot of comparison to the iphone and how its not up to the hype. i'm still getting the N1.

How not to be a real reporter... Gizmodo Dell Streak 7 shaft review

http://gizmodo.com/5748201/10-ways-to-not-make-an-android-tablet
After reading this "article" i have lost all interest in Gizmodo for good. I take more care pooping in a toilet then this rush job they call reporting.
The device looks pretty good.. but not sure what value i could have with it when i have my Streak 5.
Who cares..I am coming from a 3GS and I got sick of this control freak whose name's Steve Jobs.
Apple products are very good, fast, polished and very pricey....it is going to take a while for the iPhone users to get their devices jailbroken and unlocked. It is all about rumors when it comes to that, and lots cat and mouse...Apple keeps releasing new updates and the hackers keep trying to jailbreak with no much success in the last few weeks.
I got tired of a very stable system which does not allow you to download any file unless you purchase a downloader and if you download with it you can't move the files around, they have to stay with such app,you can't install any non-crapple store apps.If you want an unlocked iPhone 4 you might want to sell your car too.
Once again the rumors regarding jailbreak/unlock.....you can see all this online too.
I would much rather have more control of my devices, that's why I pay for them.
Wow way to fuel the apple fanboy retards who are continuously lyeing to themselves everyday believing that just because something has an apple logo on it, its better.
I really dislike gizmodo.
Jobs could slap an apple logo onto a piece of sh$t and you know that they would all happily pay almost $800 for it.
The streak 7 is honestly a solid android tablet. It may not be the "best", but atleast its not another $150 big POS that you can buy at walgreens. Lol.
IMO dell gave it a good shot and they should be proud of have made.
Any publicity is good publicity right.
How can you release a 7 incher and stick on the same 800*480 screen as on the 5 incher
Rubbish and lazy, smartphone screen on a tablet =FAIL

I agree - not a good thing. With a ton of tablets coming down the pike, as much as I like my 5" Streak, I can't imagine that the 7" Streak will be that compelling given that screen.
So, what's wrong with the article. I think it's spot-on.
I think the article was well written and bang on point. The Streak 7 was a lazy effort and barely worth releasing.
This has nothing to do with apple.
The Streak 7 is lazy. I would say his points are all well taken.
And the Galaxy Tab is nice. I enjoyed my experiences with it.

Hate on Apple all you want, I do and I've had Android devices since January 2008. Bottom line, the iPad is a far better functioning device than any Android tablet currently available. I really think that Honeycomb and the Motorola Xoom will shift things in Android's favour though
I personally think that gizmodo's review is far to brief... see Engadget's review for a much more in depth look at the device. engadget.com/2011/01/31/dell-streak-7-review

Agreed. I thought the article was thrown togiether in 5 minutes and the video was done in 30 seconds... I don't care if the device sucks... but if your supposed to be reporting on gadgets that will influence people.. you should take the time to go over the pros and cons...
and recommending the galaxy tab really put it over the top. Like you will ever see an update on that device now that the tab 2 has been announced. Most people won't get burned again by samsung after the galaxy s fiasco.

Exactly, the person who made the decision seems to be completely having no sense. Why would I buy a 7" tablet if it has the same resolution as 5" Streak,
which is more portable, and light weight. This product is like a formality for the
7" inch tablet. Dell should just keep 5" inch size, and cut another $50 to get more sales(with new CPU and 4G chip).

Read the rest of the thread or don't bother bro
The review you posted was for the 5" Streak, this thread is discussing the 7" Streak.
The problem with the Gizmodo review, is that its not an actual review. They're using a $450 tablet as canon fodder saying its **** n all, but its only selling for $450 (outright)!
If it was priced sans $750 (outright) onwards like the Xoom and LG tablets are going to be priced, then fine, rip its ass out and fcuk it over.
Dell made it cheap (mind you, its just the screen thats rubbish) and is selling it cheap. There are far worse tablets out there right now around the same price, but with half the goodies of the Streak 7 - So sue Dell if they went for the low end of the scale... Take it or leave it - thats the bottom line...
Ive found most websites for example gizmodo, T3, engadget etc favour Apple products, its something ive come to live with. Softpedia is pretty good.
And another thing, everyone always compares mobile devices to iphones/ipads. A friend recently posted on facebook about the motorola xoom and another person commented 'is it an ipad killer tho'. I was like, why would anything need to kill the ipad?
It really grinds my gears.

Hate on Apple all you want but the iPhone and iPad are both excellent devices.
They have, in the past, favoured Apple because most of their products until very recently have had far better out of the box functionality and let's face it, that's what the vast majority of users want. Until recent times of Froyo and Snapdragons I longed to have my phone be as responsive, and have as fast a browser as the iPhone. The Dream and the iPhone 3G came out around the same time in Aus. My Dream, although I loved Android, was amazingly slow next to the iPhone. Furthermore, reviewers are STILL comparing Android phones to the iPhone and even though it has far inferior hardware, it STILL stacks up. How do you think an out of the box Dream would compare to the Desire? If a reviewer compared the two you would say, "yes the Desire is better, but the Dream is older hardware with older software!" Both of these limitations apply equally to the iPhone, yet for many it was the yardstick for the Desire when it was released.
I've never owned an iPhone, only played with mates, and I've owned Android phones since the Dream. I personally think that the iOS user experience is too limiting for me, that's not to say it's bad. I know some people who have as HTC Desire and have never customised the home screens in any way.

This has been another edition of my $0.02
those websites are in the business of page views. And nothing gets page views like apple does.
Like it or not(i usually dont) people want to know how products stack up against their apple equivalent. Apple has had great products.

And without owning any of them and using them for a good 2-3 months, how can you justify yourself?
I own both devices, and after the "honeymoon" period of about a month, they're now sitting in my cupboard and about to hit ebay...
I think if you've never owned an Apple product, but get to use a friends for a few minutes, you do love them. But day in, day out, using Apple devices just makes you dumb, and they get boring very quickly with so many restrictions. To keep it interesting you have to continue to buy more apps because the free ones are just rubbish, or worst case, jailbreak to get the features you really want. But, this is rutt that Apple wants you to get into. Get bored, spend more $$. The iPhone & iPad line is all about the revenue, not about the user experience.
To be honest, I've owned every version of the iPhone since its inception in 2007, and its been the same **** but in a different body since then. There have been no Major leaps in software or tech, and the iPhone has almost always been behind in core features (eg, camera, 3G, etc) when you look at their competitors (except maybe for capacitive screens).
I will admit, where Apple products shine is in the looks. Their devices are top notch build (except for the 3G and 3GS plastic case cracks and yellow LCD screens) - but they look very nice, and feel good in the hand.
Its just a pitty that the rest is just rubbish though.
I'm so thankful for Google and Android. Theres loads of choice. And now the Hardware war is about to begin - the first time Apple will be a spectator watching dual core handsets and brilliant tablets bring fluid gaming and a brilliant user experience to all of us.
Theres my $0.02.

I seem to have made a wise choice

is it just me or are manufacturers getting stingy with the accessories they include in the box? i remember when i opened up my nexus one box for the first time, it had a charger, separate usb/micro usb data cable, AND a neoprene sleeve pouch.

It looks like it is a cheap version of the other HTC phones with a gimmick screen. I was seriously tempted by it, but I am hearing other news that it is a decent phone that feels cheap compared to the predecessor...Dont get me wrong, i hate the plastic on the Nexus S, but, for a "flagship" phone, plastic optics sound crappy.

For a handset with such a broad range of standout features and specs, the Galaxy S II is remarkably easy to summarize. It's the best Android smartphone yet, but more importantly, it might well be the best smartphone, period. Of course, a 4.3-inch screen size won't suit everyone, no matter how stupendously thin the device that carries it may be, and we also can't say for sure that the Galaxy S II would justify a long-term iOS user foresaking his investment into one ecosystem and making the leap to another. Nonetheless, if you're asking us what smartphone to buy today, unconstrained by such externalities, the Galaxy S II would be the clear choice. Sometimes it's just as simple as that.

Fanbois always complain, but to be honest, Apple does a lot right with their stuff and, generally, the praise is warranted. For the majority of people Android is "different" and not as comfortable as the dead simple Apple solution...
I am more amazed that the EVO3D was so mediocre in so many areas. People ***** about the Nexus S lacking 720p video, single core, etc...but the phone "just works" without needing all the gimmicks.
i know most benchmarks are meaningless, but i am sure the Dual Core push is due to ****ty coding on Sense/TW/Blur...My Nexus S crushes my wife's Epic and they are virtually the same core hardware.

The Dual core push is "bad" because they're running on software that is not yet optimized for Dual Core processors. The only things optimized for dual cores are Honeycomb and the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich. But even then, Quadrant isn't optimized for Dual Cores. So like you said, Benchmarks mean nothing.
Also, they're running on Android 2.2 for the most part! LoL

Some rumors I've read claim that it will be equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4.
I think that a good optimization can make the difference, placing Apple's smartphone between HTC One S and Android quad-core phones.
IMHO Apple will put a enormous capacity battery into the iPhone...

I cant see that, Apple will want their own CPU in there (and by that i mean a modified Samsung as the A4 and A5 were). It will probably have the A5x.
PErsonally I'm quite excited for the iPhone 5 and what it will bring.
Having had a look at the rubbish minor "new" features for iOS, I'm thinking Apple will have drastically improved the hardware of iPhone 5.
That is good for the whole industry
I'm sure the new iPhone will be excellent. Without new iPhones and new Galaxy's wouldn't it get boring. These companies need to push out great phones to keep giving us great products.

I don't think smarts has anything to do with it really. Rooting and installing ROM's is a whole lot easier than jailbreaking and using it's related tools, etc..
I just think the 'average' Android user and the 'average' iOS user could really care less..
every new device,if the job is done well, is goint to become leader at the time of its introduction it will be same with iphone 6 and then again with galaxy s4, etc.

I don't think smarts has anything to do with it really. Rooting and installing ROM's is a whole lot easier than jailbreaking and using it's related tools, etc..
I just think the 'average' Android user and the 'average' iOS user could really care less..

You missed my ambiguous point:

I think it was a clever move by foxconn. The more people that get the s3 the less that will be available 2 sign up for a 2 year contract on the new iphone and the less orders foxconn will receive . And consequently the less money they make.
I personally think the iphone is easier for people to use who are novices. And it's more stable. However the s3 if you know how can do so much more.

Ok before I get started I would like to stress I am no fanboy of either apple or android... I simply like good products... So no flaming please.
Now down to business, the biggest problem with the S3 (yes I own one) is the fact that samsung (and all non GED devices to be fair) seem to forget the fundamental rule... Optimize the software to run effectively on the hardware. The galaxy nexus (Yes I own one) for me runs just as fast as the s3 in terms of web browsing and general use... Yes the animations are slightly smoother on the s3 but how is it possible for the browser to not have any significant speed improvement??
Fact of the matter is that apple will optimize the iPhone 5 to the extent that it doesn't need the hardware the s3 has to run as fast (rest assured as always it always does, will flatten the s3 in benchmarks and browser speeds).
Apple seem to understand that optimisation is the way forward and this is why the next Nexus is a no brainer... Touchwiz can do all it does but it will never run as smoothly nor work as well as AOSP.

Most biased review of the galaxy s 3 I have read yet.

This review screamed "apple fan boy" from the start. Smdh at so many android haters in the world. Especially one who works for a irrelevant news outlet
He says the s3 has an outdated processor. Is he serious? Thy shows me he knows nothing about this phone

First of all who is "examiner.com"? Secondly, the author lost all credibility with me when he wrote: However, you definitely feel the height and length when talking on the phone for a long time. What the heck is the difference between height and length?

He's more than entitled to his opinion but he should write about it intelligently.
Think the author of this article still drinks from a sippy cup, and needs to be led places, because he obviously has no thoughts of his own and is hand fed his knowledge from his mommy.... LOL... that or his IQ is very low.
All kidding aside this was so funny. I always love the apple fanbois.
I had the first iphone (before android was out), and I was part of the guys that was hacking it at version 1.02 of IOS, and figuring out jailbreaking and such.
I have owned Macs since the early 90s, but the iphone in my opinion is a kids toy, compared to Andriod based phones (much more customize-able, and "hack-able")
From the author of the article, "Fabio, any dual-core processor is outdated. The US version uses a dual-core processor."
I wonder if he even knows that his iPhone is outdated now.

Why is this guy even writing tech articles he obviously knows nothing about technology.
Ummm... Because anyone can call themselves a blogger and publish what they want?
ick!
I'm fed up with apple BS. I just had an argument this morning about android and ios with one of my close friend's who's also in IT. I'm an android fanboy but i can clearly say without any hesitation that apple does make great products. I had an iphone4, an ipad, and an apple tv. Good stuff. As much as I like their stuff, I don't think it's necessarily better; Just different. I like having a choice. I've been with android since day one and know that android is just as capable as any ios device, and in some cases more capable. I love than I can get a phone in any size shape or color from any carrier. Apple people think that's bad for some reason.
Ever listen to any of their presentations? They sound like this.
"70% of apple users upgrade to the latest version of our OS 100% more than any other OS. Today we're announcing that everyone can get the latest version for only... $20"
Does that make any sense to you? They actually said something like this at WWDC2012. Every one of their slides and charts has all sorts of skewed information and apple sheep eat it right up. Like when they say that the ipad has over 200k apps designed for it, then they diss android. But they don't mention that every single android app since ICS built for both phones and tablets. Nah they leave that part out.
Apple gets praised for selling OS updates for $20.
Windows gets slammed for giving people service packs for free.
Apple gets praise for updating it's last two iphones, but google gets slammed for only upgrading their last two and not the every other manufacturers phones. It seems unfair, and simply childish at this point trying to talk to apple people. God (for those who believe in him/her) could come from heaven and say that Android is really better, and apple people would still deny it.
This writer should be ashamed of himself for not only drinking the cool-aid, but for letting it skew his review and putting out bad information to consumers.
just left a nice comment under the name LearnGadget
Apparently many many people are annoyed with him...

He probably has in his mouth.
"The GPS eats a lot of battery life fast, so it's important to keep this off when you don't need it"
What? Really? So the phone uses GPS 24/7 now?

Yeah that guy is a tool that doesn't know what he's talking about.
That article is funny, he's obviously clueless.
He comments later, "any dual-core processor is outdated."
This one is pretty funny too, not as bad but some of the claims are really biased-sounding.
It's at gadgetreview . com, can't post links...
"Compared to the Galaxy S II, the newer Galaxy S III looks plasticy and somewhat poorly built. The back panel is a single bendable plastic glossy slab, and the front is all display. Compare that with the iPhone, or any recent high-end smartphone, and the GS3 looks like a kids toy from the back. "
"My opinion is that iOS is still the stronger operating system; it’s simpler, easier to manage, and anyone switching between the two OS’s will be better off with iOS in any case."
"Samsung has included some great additions using their user interface, but it isn’t likely going to make the overall OS better than iOS. "
I don't think the guy has even held a gs3. And a simpler os does not make a better os. And any iphone ive used is always cluttered because the home screen holds all the apps.
...
I just sent him this in an email, not because he doesn't like a phone that I do, but because he's an idiot! Lol
Dear uninformed,
Wow is all I have to say! I own several smartphones and one of those is a US Galaxy S3 variamt. I'm well aware that you did not ever actually use one of them before you wrote this review.
If you in fact have used any of them, then you have zero credibility when it comes to technology! Even if you don't care for the phone, which I personally like but there are others I care for more, your conclusions of outdated processor, bad camcorder, and camera is not as good as the s2, are so completely far off from what is obvious to even a smartphone beginner!
Total crap journalism, and absolutely the most uninformed, uneducated, clueless "tech journalist" (if that's your title at this.... Blog Site?) that I have ever layed eyes on!
By the way, we are having a hell of a time laughing our asses off at you in a thread dedicated just for you at XDA!
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.... SELECT A NEW LINE OF WORK!
