I'm buying my Galaxy Tab tomorrow and am curious whats the difference? I saw both dev forums, which is better? Is there a way to know what your getting?
I wondered this too, but I'm pretty sure I found the answer. The galaxy tab 10.1v was originally sold by vodaphone in Europe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I did see that somewhere. If you just bought it here in the US, I'm under the impression that is just the 10.1 development forum you'd need.

The 10.1V was the original model that was announced at MWC... Then iPad 2 was announced and Samsung redesigned to be slimmer and lighter, then reintroduced at CTIA as the 10.1 and 8.9, which was just released here in the States. Jerbeck24 was correct, the 10.1V was released as an exclusive to Vodafone, so you won't find one for sale here unless it was imported
So is 10.1 any more hackable? Or less? Is it thinner?

Which is which? The 10.1 doesnt have the ugly back portion does it?
For some reason the first pic I linked to wouldn't load; edited with a new one. The 10.1 is the first pic, 10.1V is second. The new 10.1 is 8.6mm thick whereas the 10.1V is 10.9mm
Looks waaay better
the 10.1v has 3G...
gotten mine from Vodafone Australia 2 weeks ago.
have news that it is out of stock, dont know how true it is.
The 10.1v also has an amazing ( and I do mean amazing, it's truly special ) camera - IMO it's the better piece of hardware, save for future support ( the 10.1 runs honeycomb 3.1, the 10.1v hasn't yet had an update )
I want the 10.1v and not the 10.1 (Disappointed). 10.1 Feels cheap as hell... IDK where people get the it feel's nice. Going from Xoom, iPad2, PlayBook to SGT 10.1 feels like a downgrade... Just such cheapy plastic
do you think I should get the 10.1v? I don't care much about the thickness, my main concern is regarding the future support (i have a story with bad support and samsung when i had the Galaxy i7500 phone...)? I'm in Europe so the 10.1 is not officially launched, the Wi-Fi only version is available for pre-order on some online stores and it's quite expensive, the 10.1v has a good price, it's cheaper than the 3G Xoom (it's 16G vs 32G so i guess it's normal).
What are the differences between these two?
- thickness 10.9 vs 8.6
- battery 6860 vs 7000
- camera 8MP vs 3MP
are there any other differences? screen, cpu?

About 10.1v, there is no official update for Android 3.1 until now.
GT 10.1 Google IO Limited Edition just got that update few days ago.
The 10.1 is shipped with 3.1 already.
From there, you can judge about the support? Probably, it would be better if you know "when" (estimation) the 10.1v will get 3.1 update.
Or probably you can update it your-self via XDA dev help

That's not a bad price at 480 euro !!!

Hello,
I just got mine and it came with 3.0.1 and alot of apps do not work... I should have waited. I am very disappointed.
And no updates to this day, Samsung tech support are so lame.

As far as i know 10.1 will come with a stock Honeycomb 3.0{& i want that only} & 8.9 will have a Samsung custom UI over it.
But we will know shortly which version will have stock Android or none
I hope the 10.1 will have stock honeycomb because I don't like touchwiz at all
Got the backup YouTube video? it has been pulled out
Surprise, surprise, it's been pulled. Still not long to go to the launch at 16:00 GMT (11:00 EST).
Ha,Ha lol
but the designs are great
Well, this is a really good news for the 10.1" after I read about UI customization of the 8.9".
I might get the 10.1" then! Stock Honeycomb, thinner, lighter, and microSD card (as bonus).
As long as they don't change the battery size!
Damn, I am excited again.

Why does it have to take until summer for this tablets to be released!!!! Apple presented the iPad2 and then a week later it was released!!! Such a tease!!! I will go the Xoom way.
I think both the 10.1 and 8.9 are going to have TouchWiz UX - personally I don't think it looks too bad!

Yeah its a pity they only had about 4 to sell among the entire American population, and they are still having shortages!
I would rather they waited until they had a good stock and good hardware!
American variants of SGS II seem to be better than ours, 4.5 inch screen. Slightly better may be. But i hope they don't get a wolfson chip and Vodoo sound eventually. It makes feel jealous.
No need to be jealous. Look at how long it took the first Galaxy S variants to get Froyo. And don't even get me started on Gingerbread. The carriers' policy regarding updates is a nightmare over there.
The international version is the way to go, unless you don't care about updates.
Also, 4.5 is freaking huge. I hope that won't be the new trend. I already find the SGSII to be slightly to big. 4 inches was perfect for me.

The only one confirmed to be 4.5" is the T-Mobile version (Hercules). It also comes with the same Qualcomm processor that's in the Sensation which hasn't benchmarked nearly as well as the Exynos chip in the international SGS2. The final verdict on performance will depend on how well Samsung optimizes its software on the Qualcomm chip.

Maybe if both are clocked at 1.2, but the Verizon (rumored Celox) version of the Qualcomm 8060 is supposedly going to be clocked at 1.5Ghz. I would think that would help the Qualcomm's performance.

Same here, even though the sgs2 is only 2mm wider and 3mm taller than my captivate it feels much bigger. The tmo celox is 4mm wider and 6mm taller than the sgs2, no thanks. They really need to go with edge to edge screens with anything over 4".

Really? I read/heard somewhere that american variants were going to have inferior processors too, then again i haven't done much research about this so i could be greatly misinformed.
I remember back when I had AT&T Captivate - how SGS got Froyo and GB waaaaaaaay sooner than my AT&T Captivate. Pissed the hell out of me.
Plus, AT&T butchered the phone - no LED, no front camera.
No, I'm happy with my factory-direct SGS2 Exynos monster.

I don't think anything's been confirmed for VZW yet. They may get a true Exynos SGS2 variant. Here's the pic of Sprint's. It looks like the size of the regular SGS2 not the 4.5" Qualcomm version.
If you had the choice between buying one from Expansy-US or waiting for AT&T to get it what would you do? I'm afraid of stuck or broken pixels, the yellow stain, and other parts broken or what have you.
I have heard that Expansys-US has a warranty am I correct? Will the unlocked version be as fast on the AT&T network here in the U.S. as the one that comes out on AT&T?
Thanks for all of your help.

Yes, but Samsung's Galaxy S series of phones have always had the latest and greatest features available at the time of their release. This shouldn't be any different.
Those features are going to become standard on high-end phones by mid-2012
Edit: Only thing I disagree with is the 2GHz. That's just not practical.
Transformer prime runs at 1.3-1.4?GHz on Tegra3 and gets ~8 hours of battery life. That's with a tablet-sized battery. GS3 probably will ship with 1.2GHz or something, and it'll be up to XDA devs to push it to its' potential.
I have a hard time getting excited about new Samsung phones, because it seems like they always take forever to get released in the US.
I'm guessing an unannounced SGS3 probably won't be available on US carriers for until Christmas time. By then it's no longer exciting.

should I use my upgrade for a GS2 or wait for the GS3?
waiting for the S3 is the better choice i think .Other information say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is with Quadcore-CPU, ICS, HD-Display and 12-MP-Camera
in February should Samsung release it or give us new information
It Rumors thet the S3 should be showing on the MWC 2012
The Quadcore-Prozessor of Galaxy S3 should be clocking at 1,5 or 1,6 GHz . The Special is the improvment in 3D. The Display should be an Super-AMOLED-HD-Display with 1.280 x 1.024and 326 ppi .
I hope its all true

It is "rumored" it will not release until later in the year..Q4 at the soonest... just learned that last night actually while checking out the Galaxy Note
Specs are being kept top secret and these guys at Samsung are very tight lipped about it.
Hearing some buzz on the successor of note. Nothing official yet,but may be in MWC or Samsung conference in March (?) , But what features the existing and to be owners of note expecting ?
Edit :
I know Galaxy note 10.1 and I didn't mean it.
Adding the main expectations from the user's responses
Quad core processor
1.5GB RAM
No Hardware key
ICS
Bigger screen (?)
Metallic body
Hot swap micro SD
micro SIM compatible
NFC
Reverse tweethering
Upgraded AMOLED
Better DAC - Wolfson WM1811
Better positioning of power & volume key
Dedicated Instant Camera button
more coming...
I doubt there'll be a "successor" to the Note for a while yet, seeing as it's only just been released in the US. A 10 inch version is a certainty, though.
http://mashable.com/2012/02/26/sams...eed:+mashable/mobile+(Mashable+ยป+Mobile+Feed)
Worth noting - it's running ICS! ^
Been thinking similar, looking at new HTC phones and tablets fro Samsung. They are all very impressive but they don't match what I have with my Note, either too small or too big!!
Quicker the note gets ICS the better.

Given the distinctly "meh" specs of the new galaxy tab 2 10.1, I'm assuming/hoping that this new Note 10.1 will have at least the same specs as the original note (i.e 1.4ghz exynos), or hopefully better. Quad core anyone? Or perhaps the processor from the upcoming Galaxy S3? Who knows. I just hope it is more than just a tab 2 with a stylus.

As the chap above me said, that isn't the Note 10.1. Hopefully the Note will be a "premium" model of the Tab. I predict a 1.5ghz, and a slightly higher res screen. Which is a shame, as it'll probably be completely blown away by the iPad 3's Retina display in less than a week's time.
That tablet looks dumb. Same hardware but bigger battery n kinda better screen res? What a waist .

My predictions for the Note 10.1
1080p Screen (SAMOLED HD, not 'plus')
7000mah battery like on the new tab.
Next gen exynos processor (my guess would be the 2ghz dual core one.)
Hopefully it will have a SPen and Android 4.

So the note will evolve in a tablet? What's the logic behind that, there's already a billion tablets. The note is the perfect size and serves both needs, a tablet and a phone.
That's why it's called a "Smartlet"...
So I bought this new Camcorder and yesterday I have downloaded the 186 page manual before the thing arrives tomorrow. Been reading on 8.9 tab and on the 7.7 since.
The 8.9 works best for me at nightime when all lights are off. With lights on, the size/form factor of the 7.7 is better. The 7.7 screen even on minimal is TOO bright! However, this morning, I can't put the 7.7 down.
All I need now is a PDF annotator app. I have been using Documents to Go and PDF to go, but I want to set bookmarks and hightlight, circle stuff.
BTW, the only tablet for me that would better the 7.7 would be a 7.7 Note, with the pressure sensitive, hard small tipped pen. The flufly, blob pen we're forced to use doen't cut it.

my thoughts exactly... the 7.7 size is perfect....not too big, not too small... just needs an s-pen!
Agreed. I would go out and buy a 7.7 tomorrow but I am holding off because if there is a chance of a Note variant being released it would be my perfect tablet in terms of portability and features. It is more of a want than a need at present which is why I am holding off until Samsung chose to have their big press reveal in a few months for the GS3 in the hope that they slip a 7.7 Note in as well.
Yea a stylus is the only thing missing with the 7.7, hope we get ics soon and a capable stylus

The voice of reason, well done good sir.
I do hope this mystery Galaxy announcement for August 15th is going to be a Note 7.7. I'd pretty much drop some serious cash for something that great. Apple wouldn't have anything that could match it. Hopefully Samsung's powers it with the Exynos Quad rather than the older 4210. That should pretty much ensure the iPad mini would not be able to compete very well.
Yes dude, that's what we all want. I wonder if Samsung is waiting for the A15 soc to be ready. Or are they simply waiting for apple to launch their ipad mini and then present a better rival? I am surprised there are no rumors about such a great tablet, yet. Let's hope its due for this year yet.

Galaxy Note 7-inch just get the Wi-Fi certification? http://www.note2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=388
The trend for tablet screens is towards 1080p for viewing full HD media and I would not buy a tablet without a full HD screen even if it has an S-Pen.
The only Android tablets which have a full HD screen at the moment are the ASUS Transformer Infinity TF700KL with 4G/LTE and the Acer Iconica A700. with WIFI only and I would be tempted to get the TF700KL when it is available in the UK if Samsung hasn't produced an full HD tablet by then.
There is a rumour samsung and google are making a new high end tablet, but I doubt it would have this code.
