Most stupid S2 owner ever?... - Galaxy S II General

I just lost my second Galaxy S 2 at the weekend.
I lost my first one 3 days after receiving it... managed to get money for a replacement via house insurance and then lost my new one.. seriously... imagine how bad I feel.
Some git out there is running round with a £500 phone with a custom rom and all my apps....
Totally depressing.
Pretty sure I'm one of the only people in the world that has lost 2 Galaxy S 2s since release date.

Use the lookout last resort app from web market. It'll push to your phone so at least you can take it out

Maybe you should take more care of your things...?

Did you sign into your samsung mobile account? If yes, try http://www.samsungdive.com/ You can locate your phone with that service

i got home drunk and couldn't think coherently... think the phone was off as well as I tried to phone it right away.
Also... in a panic I changed my Gmail password and Facebook passwords to make sure when the device was back on even with a different SIM they weren't synching and accessing my accounts.
In other words... I'm totally f*****
sad times... and yes.. I like the phone so much.. I'll get another one.

Buy a cheap and cheerful phone for taking with you when you go out drinking.

I only know, that it's already implemented into the Galaxy S II, so you can use both of them. I don't know, if samsung dive is relating to SIM or IMEI, IMEI would be very nice , then our thread opener will probably eventually find his device

Takes some courage to write here and admit you managed to lose two phones in such a short period of time. Good luck with the third one.

when i go out drinking etc.. i leave my main phone in the house and take out a cheaper.. but still good phone(taking pics n stuff).. so if i do lose it.. its no big deal.
I suggest you do the same knowing that you have already lost two of them.

So you ordered a phone, and initially thought it never came. Then you called and said, "Hey, where's that phone?" They said, "Sorry. We'll send another one."
Now you are basically saying, "Thanks AT&T for being so helpful and sending me a replacement phone. Now that you were so helpful, I will keep both phones and really give you the shaft for being honest."
Having two phones, you now wonder if you can get in trouble. Well, let me put it this way: if AT&T was to find out you have both phones, they might think you lied to them in an attempt to steal a phone from them. Most people and most businesses wouldn't respond too well to this.
The ethical thing to do is exactly what your question asks when reading between the lines: Should I keep what doesn't belong to me?
If you have to ask, you probably already know the answer.
Whatever...I worked for at&t for a year...nothing ethical about that company. I say keep it and be happy.
Answer is yes they could find out whos SIM is in the phone with that IMEI... Unless you use that program floating around and change the IMEI haha.

Strange, because you've offered to sell this phone to another member here already. You might want to get your story straight before Mark comes knocking on your door looking for his "kickback".
Isn't that like stealing more than half a thousand dollars?
I mean, Don't get me wrong, but you could let them know you moved, so they can send the phone to the right place.

You're probably right. But at the same time, is it worth the trouble and worry? Even if AT&T isn't ethical, does that mean you shouldn't? It's all about how you want to live your life.

[Q] HTC desire hd lost&found

hello guys, I just found a HTC desire hd in the bar where I work, its been 2 weeks since the guy lost it, what should I do, I know that this phone might be traced by internet or gps, or maybe I dont know, maybe I'm wrong...now I just want to keep it. any danger?

It probably can be if he's set it up right, but you can use that to help return it to him (assuming that's what you're intending). As far as I know it does use GPS.

The right thing to do is find out who's phone it is and return it , its pretty easy with the data kept on phones "now a days".. The HTC online service can used to lock the phone , wipe data , track phone etc. But this feature is useless if the phone is off or the sense account is deleted or changed on the phone.
Correct me if I'm wrong !

Previous post is completely correct. I'd just return it save you the trouble. I mean put yourself in their shoes, how would you feel if you lost you phone?
Do the right thing. Return it.
Hand it in to your local police station, make sure they log it and give you a reference number. Then after a set period of time, possibly 4 weeks, if the owner has not claimed it you can legally claim it.
However, the owner has probably reported it as lost and had it network barred. Not sure if you can then get it removed, but that is the right thing to do.
you'r right dude thanks

I found some guys phone once, read his msgs and txt a few people to let them know I had found it. He rang me up on it and asked me to meet him at a certain place and time, I told him I was working at that time so would have to meet him an hour or so later, he went mad at me over the phone saying I should meet him when he said! I just laughed at him and told him Id be there later. After meeting up with the guy he showed no appreciation for what I had done to get his phone back to him, some people huh?
Wow miclair. That is just sad. You have much more class than I do. Still showing up and giving them the phone after they get.mad when you were trying to.do the right thing. I commend you for that.

Hello everyone.
Today I found a brand new SGS2 on a supermarket and I took it
So I was wondering if they can track me down by GPS or something like that, if they lock the phone what's the worst that can happen ?
By the way before you judge me I didn't steal anything, like I said I found it.
If I were you I would see a lawyer and discuss this. In Germany you wouldn't have stolen it but would've been guilty of "Fundunterschlagung" which is also a crime and can and will be punished.
Tracking a phone is not that hard, there's the IMEI for example. In the very moment you use a sim card your carrier will know the IMEI of your device. So if the owner of the device reports this the police definitely can track down this very phone.
In addition you should never forget that most supermarkets have cameras.
I guess I will save you and me a discussion about the moral implications of such a behaviour.
Yeah, you're right.
I will give it tomorrow to my carrier maybe they will find in which name it is registered and give it back to the owner.
Thanks.
The answer is yes. This was not abandoned property. imho, You have a moral obligation and perhaps a legal obligation to return the phone.
Sent from my SCH-I800 using xda premium
You should have given it to the supermarket customer service or manager or even hand it into a police station, im assuming it wasn't on when you found it (otherwise the owner would no doubt try and call the phone to see if anyone had it)
This thread makes me sad...if i lost my phone id cry and hope that the person that found it would have the decency to answer my frantic calls or hand it in to have it returned to me. Do the decent thing.

Seriously? If they find out you did that then you may well lose your job. As an employee your actions are not seen in the same light as a customer.
Look at the call log and call someone who's on there frequently. Tell them you have the phone and arrange to get it back to the owner. You'll make someone very happy and you'll save yourself a potentially large amount of trouble

Imagine if the supervisor said "ok i will return it" and kept it for himself
Either way glad you are doing the right thing

Someone has problems with custom rom and CWM 5?
Be a nice guy and just try to track down the owner. Just check which Google account the phone syncs with and fire up an email.
If you've switched your own SIM into the phone, it's very likely the phone has sent a text message to a number the owner set up the moment you fired it back up. It's also fairly easy to track the phone via GPS, check call logs and wipe the phone remotely. The service provider can also track IMEI numbers on phones registered on their network.
More importantly, make the real owners day and let the poor guy have his precious phone back!

Stolen N4 - Who blocks IMEI?

Hi folks.
I feel stupid (and angry) as hell right now. The worst part is that I can't even explain how it happened. I'm the most careful person in the world with my phone, and haven't lost a smartphone in, like, a decade, but I believe I have just had my N4 stolen from me. I had it, then I put it in my pocket, stood up for 10 minutes, then it was gone, and, of course, immediately switched off. All my careful planning is null and void; once it's stolen / off, there's very little that pintail, plan b, lookout etc can do. (?)
Anyway, I just need to know where and how I get the IMEI blocked? It was bought directly from Google, not via a carrier. Does anyone know?
Thanks. I'm off to dust off my credit card, and try to replace my baby
I would think talking to your carrier would be a good idea since they have access to block imei's. Even if they can't they are best able to point you in the right direction.

Badass. But just tell Google. They can block it from T-Mobile and AT&T. I think straight talk too. Emails take along while but they do get back to you. I would put flyers up near where it was stolen that say the phone has been deactivated and will not work on any carrier. If it is returned to you there will be no questions asked ( maybe even lie about a reward) see what happens. You can say my number is on the lock screen or call this number in the contacts. Maybe they will just return it to lost and found or something. Could be it died and you just left it somewhere and someone picked it up to give it to lost and found?

How much of a fake reward would be required for a thief to return a phone? $100 bucks? Not worth incriminating myself. $200 bucks? Then my BS detector goes off because you are approaching the price of purchasing a new one.

There was literally ten or fifteen minutes between me sitting at the table in the bar using my phone, and it being switched off when I asked my girlfriend to call it. I guess I was pickpocketed when I went outside for a smoke. Sucks, but this is what credit is for, I guess. I'd only just paid off my card

The phone was stolen and switched off within ten to fifteen minutes of the last time I had it in my hand. Pretty tough to install Plan B in those circumstances I have various apps for locating it, as well as a number of Tasker scripts to locate, erase, etc. but they are all pretty much worthless the minute the thief has switched off the phone.
--
I have tracked down the phone number for US Google Device Support , which I have called and they appear to have it in hand, although they have had to escalate my call to a specialist as they were not sure if they could block the IMEI.
Thanks all for taking the time to reply. My new phone has been ordered and should be here in a few days. Everything's backed up to Dropbox, so I'm only down a bit of money and some inconvenience. It could be worse.

Yeah, at least you weren't hurt in the incident. It sucks to have your stuff stolen (I had a phone stolen about 2 years ago in a mugging) but at the end of the day we move on and don't let it get us down. I've found that I'm now much more cautious with my electronics in public, which I guess is a good thing.
Hello there, sorry to hear about your situation. I actually JUST lost my Nexus 4 this past weekend as well. Were you able to get a resolution from the Google team regarding the block on the IMEI? I've tried searching around for more info but haven't been able to find much. What ended up happening if you don't mind me asking?

I'm Going To Rectify A Mistake Tomorrow

I got The HTC One and contacted EE to cancel the contract and take the phone back as I changed my mind.
With the phonebeside me in its box, I've just had to have a play with it and now I'm gutted to be sending it back.
It's absolutely stunning, I've never seen or held such a wonderful device.
I'm wondering now as I've been sent a returns bag etc, charge it up and hope EE will let me keep it or send it back and get another one.
So... why are you sending it back?
Um yeah.... Some more details perhaps?

Just phone EE again say you changed your mind, you decided to stay with them, they would be more than happy to let you stay. I don't see why there would be any problem. Very likely they would let you keep the phone then just start a new contract, cos technically only until you returned the phone your contract is fully stopped, they may be able to reverse it at this stage.

So the OP starts a new thread saying he is staying with his iPhone 5.
What exactly is the point of this thread, other than the OP simply trolling HTC forums?

No he started a thread saying he ordered the ONE and then before getting it he changed his mind thinking he would be ok with the iphone 5 so he calls in and has them cancel the new contract and send him a return kit. He then gets the ONE and being a phone junkie like all of us on XDA he HAS to play with and realizes that he loves the ONE and does not want to use his iphone 5 anymore but as he said he already called in to cancel so what does he do??? Which has been answered so next time you wish to bash someone or talk crap maybe sharpen up on your reading comprehension skills.
Don't really think OP is trying to be a troll or anything.. i think he/she is just confused and didn't know how awesome of a phone it was till he/she used it..
Which is what you suppose to do with any new phone, you read up on it, find features you like, buy it, get used to it.. decided should you keep it..
Not order a phone, decide to return it.. then want to use it and realize its a great phone

I agree but I am also a phone nut and have done crazier things in my time. He got caught up in the hype then doubted the hype (who can blame him) and then realized the hype was real. Sounds a little like all of us :silly:

That sums up half of the post here about a new phone :good:
Before that ends in flamewars out of misunderstandings, I close this now. All is discussed I think.
