I recent rooted my phone, using the gfree method, an it worked well for about two months. Then my phone bricked it self. I'm looking for a method that won't have this issue. When I had my first phone, it had full(perm) root.

You probably had the phone with a bad eMMC chip. Nothing you can do about that one.

Well now,i have a new one.got it under warranty. Is there a way to check the chip, to see if it good or bad. Also what root method did you use.

I've got a phone with the good chip. How likely is it that the phone will brick? Is gfree the way to go with rooting?
Good chip means you shouldn't brick.. Search button?

I appreciate it, I rooted with gfree before-looking for a personal opinion or two of someone who has had success with different methods.
I have the bad chip rooted with visionary. Rh method or whatever, it will bRick eventually

Have you tried to root any other way?
yes, gfree didn't work on my MT4G but worked on my G2...

did you use gfree to root before using visionary?
Well I attempted to, but it didn't work.. At all, didn't even temp root.. So I scrapped it and used visionary.

visionary you mean the root.sh method correct?
Nope... I was going to use that too and it too failed, so I just temp rooted from visionary like the rh. Says but hit perm root after that instead of pushing those files thru since it didn't want to work.. so I really rooted all from visionary like I have on other devices.

Visionary doesn't give s-off...
S-off and permit root are two different things
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Explain how I got s=off to me please then
I know I rebooted 5 times after each attempt and no s=off in bootloader then magically had it after visionary so something might've been delayed or whatever but I have s=off and root.

I attempted it.. but I always got some error that I had never seen before when pushing the files.
So I said wtf screw this! Rebooted phone for fresh boot, (checked for s=off in bootloader, it was on) hit temproot, Hit permroot now, rebooted to bootloader saw s=off so I threw CWM recovery and flashed a rom before my bipolar phone changed its mind

Ok I followed the rooting process I managed to downgrade it too 2.2.1 and have the s-on to s-off .
I don't see superuser and is my phone unlocked to use different carrier. Also I don't have recovery install because it said failed.

More details. What did you use to get S-Off? Did you use the "Attempt Permaroot" option in Visionary?
S-Off does not equal root. S-Off means the security flag is off which allows permanent rooting to take place, as well as writing to partitions.

If it doesn't work you have to reboot and try again. It uses an exploit that doesn't work 100% of the time.
