[Q] Xoom knock-off: Too true to be good?

I know (almost) everyone is still upset about missing the steal... um, deal of the year, but does anyone know anything about this:

I saw this and instantly thought SCAM ALERT!!! But what if it's not? If it's true, this can certainly make up for missing that other deal. Also noteworthy, this is a presale. Another thing that I was leery of with the Xoom already officially in stores...

Yeah, I'm sooo calling shenanigans on this.
So many red flags all over this.
Besides, shipping date May 31? Yeah..

They must be working on a different calendar than we are, because you only get the special pricing before "28th Jeb"

Scam... order by Jeb? Jebuary? Oh yeah that's the month that comes after Nevember and before I-lost-500$-uary. If it's a realty good deal you are being taken for a ride.

A co-worker showed me this and I told him don't jump out the window for it till I poll the community. That Jeb part definitely flagged me!!

The name of the tablet also seems to be photoshopped onto the Xoom... It might be a scam or just a very cheap knock-off from Shenzhen. Either way, I am still waiting for my 25% Xoom

Sad part is, I was investigating this for my buddy around the time you guys were making off like bandits. He sidetracked me from my normal XDA browsing time!

I want one...I love my Xoom but this other thing has the ability to "access various types of flies, whatever the source". Take that Motorola!

If you look at one of the photos, on the back of the device they have tape over "XOOM 12".

I thought I recognized that long sleeve black sweater... He got some of the pics from these guys i think. (Look at silver sticker on third pic down). They are the same unit.

Looks like a pic from a beta version of the XOOM. My opinion, you're better off spending your money on 500 fortune cookies and playing the lottery with the numbers on the back.

I can't say 100% but I think it is a scam...I mean even knock-offs don't look 100% the same as the original.

Wow, thank you op for letting us know about this great deal. I did not want to miss out on a great deal like that 25% off coupon.
I quickly ordered it and I got an immediate email saying that it will be shipped on Mirch 2, 2011. That was quick.
I was about to spend $500 on my weekly ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) but I jumped on this great deal instead.

Got mine today. Poor packaging, xoom box was not sealed and xoom was slidding around freely in box. Everything appears to be fine. I love this thing, only complaints are the speaker placement and the screen contrast. Othewise, I can't set this thing down!

I hope this ins't a thread jack. I have an extra (maybe 2 by Tuesday) in Denver. I had like 15 orders open at various times and I just happened to get a few docks at the same time. To me, the dock is a necessary part of the experience. I'm thinking about selling my sleeve too. PM me.

Hope I'm not threadjacking either. I also have an extra one coming to me this week that I wasn't able to cancel in time. I'm located in the Northern CA, in the south bay, if anyone in the SJ area is in need of a dock.

Why are all these extra docks in the US not happy !!!!

Is it any wonder they are in short supply.

Aren't the docks supposed to work with future transformers as well? Why not keep it until the new one is out.
I'm in Dallas looking for a dock though, PM me.

Well, he can still get full retail for the dock (or maybe more due to shortages). Might as well sell what he has now if he isn't going to get a tablet until later this year. That way he's more likely to get a dock with all the bugs worked out. It remains to be seen if firmware updates alone will really solve the myriad of problems the current Transformer dock has.
Also it keeps his options open as to what tablet to get -- lenovo and others have "transformer" style tablets in the works, so why tie himself to ASUS now when they might not be the best option for a tegra3 tablet?

For the numerous of you that have several docks available, if you'd like to get rid of one feel free to PM me a price.

Taking the plunge

Hey,
This morning my xoom arrived. The after spending £430 of my hard earned money I started to feel rather skeptical as I had never played with any android 3.0 tablet or even held the xoom in my hand before. At 11.00 the postman arrived to deliver, opened the box and switched it on. The initial impressions is that this is by far to best piece of tech I have invested in. Thinking back to my ipad I really did question why did i bother ith tht junk.
Just a quick thank you to all who advised on my previous posts about the xoom, it's brilliant.

Use the steps from here if your battery sucks like mine does and only lasts like 5 hours now. Going to the Apple Store this weekend to try it.

Your post is misleading. The article is about exchanging your ipad for another one with fresh battery for $100. You can't get an Ipad for $100.

That's why it says must have an Ipad to start. It's not misleading because you are getting another "new/reconditioned" iPad as long as yours is still functioning.

HAHAHA. Title may not have been thought out but people don't have to be jerks.

You guys think I could do this for an iphone 2g? The phone works but the screen has a couple of small cracks. But the battery does last less than a couple hours.

I doubt it i bet its too old
