So I am being prompted right now to installed the EF10 baseband update from EF02 but have not hit install yet. I browsed the whole file structure with Root Explorer and with ADB but I cannot figure out where the update is stored before it installs. Does anyone know?
Thanks.
You can use app called LogACat from the Market.
When the OTA update is prompted you can look in the log cat results and find the direct Google download link URL. This is the same method used to grab the OTA download link for new OS updates.
Takes a bit of digging through the logcat but its not hard to find. Once you get the URL you can direct download it to your computer, phone and save it.
Mass storage phone to pc and use pc to search drive for "update"
Or search for newest files

Its in a folder called cache on your sd card. The file will be named update.zip

I'm trying to flash clockwork for the first time, but have trouble with my weak connection. Trying to install it manually, I downloaded the Vibrant file from here and the apk.
But how do I flash manually? where do i put the Vibrant file that i downloaded?

Thanks
Why don't you just do it from Rom Manager? Download it from the Market and press "Flash Recovery."

What about wifi?
It might be worth it just to find a wifi hotspot (like McDonalds or Starbucks) and flash from there. Your connection must be really bad because I was able to flash Clockwork on Edge.

If you download the RomManager.apk from the links on this page ~> clockworkmod dot com <~ (click on the little android app icon just beside where it says "gift me"). This is the actual *.apk file that your Android system will know and love. If you stick this RomManager.apk file on a uSD card, slide that into your phone, then boot it up regularly. Browse to the externalSDCard, tap on the RomManager.apk file, and realize magic (ie. follow instructions).
You might be prompted to allow installation from unknown files, do as it says.
Hope this helps!

DOES YOUR BATTERY LIF.... JK, do you have a pc? download the apk onto a Micro SD card, then put the micro sd card into your... wait, i see what you're saying. your connection is bad so it wont let you download the recovery because the size.
instead, search for the custom recovery zip and rename it 'update.zip' then boot into your stock recovery and go to install update from external sd card and install the update.zip file. if you cant do that, then download the ICS PASSION ROM for the samsung vibrant onto an sd card, rename it to 'update.zip' and install it from the stock recovery. i would give you links to all the file downloads, but i am to reply with URL's yet.
If someone hasn't already done this; can someone please make an app that lets you download strait to the sdcard. I only have access to a computer at home. It would be nice to download the newest ROMs from my phone and skip the computer all together.

Depending on the file, my phone downloads directly to /sdcard/download/
mine to but I want to be able to download a rom directly to the root of the sdcard. If its in a folder it won't work.

Download Astro file manager go into downloads.. Long press and hold on the ROM and copy it.. hit the bottom on the top which will take it to the root of the SD card and there you go!

Usually you download the file directly from the webpage using a Browser, like Dolphin...

You can also utilize a terminal application and utilize the command "mv" to move from /sdcard/downloads/ to /sdcard/. Also, you should be able to install from a folder as long as you mount the system and select install zip from sdcard.
I accidently deleted the file folder from my phone com.swype.inputmethod (not sure if that is the exact name, but close) and now I can't swype. Does anyone know how I can get it back? Or if it is still on my phone somewhere...I tries to restore w/ Ti, but it didn't seem to work.

If you search around a little bit the system dump from the D2 is posted somewhere, grab the swype apk and either copy it to the SD card and install it (I generally just use astro to get the application manager to open and let me install) or connect your phone to the computer in PC Mode and use adb to install (adb install swype.apk). You will need to either run adb from the installed folder on your computer or modify your environment path to include the location of adb.
So I found it....but now I have yet another problem...I'm deodexed and the dump file is odexed....will it still work?

I'm not too sure how many people know this, but when Kies is downloading your new ROM, you can copy it and put it somewhere on your hard drive for use later on (if necessary).
On my computer (Windows XP) Kies puts the ROM in the temp folder, on my computer, here...
C:\Documents and Settings\Ian\Local Settings\Temp, where Ian is my name on my computer, you go to where all your files are located.
While downloading the new ROM it'sin a temp file called tmp1B2.tmp.
Once it's done, it puts the file in a folder called tmp1B2.tmp.zipfolder
Just copy the file from this folder and paste it anywhere you want.
The file will disappear after your phone is finished upgrading, so make sure you don't wait too long.
Ian
Thanks! Though I don't suppose there is a method of actually getting the firmware WITHOUT actually going through the process of upgrading?
You can also download the firmware straight from Samsung using check fus downloader without even having to run kies.

Hi. Is my first time using Drive and after trying to download a ROM from "x" googledrive.com site . the only way to get that file is using google drive ( go figure ). The problem started when my only option was saying : open file using es file explorer . no saving file option anywhere. So I opened it...waited for the big file to download to drive then opens ( extract ) the ROM zip file with es file explorer but there is no option to save the zip. So now I opened my google drive app and I found the ROM zip file in "recent". Since I don't see the word Save or something like that. I used download and the file started downloading ( I thought it was like saving from drive to my sdcard ). So OK I waited again for the big file to download just in case I clicked also on Keep on my device. Now I did a search and I can't find it anywhere in my device storage or sdcard. I tries the move option and it only let me move within the folders inside drive or create a new one.
What happened to the easy way of click on download...save...done?.
How can I do something as easy and fast like that when I download something using google drive?

There should be a little i icon on the file. Press it then "save a copy". I think that's what the process is like now. It used to say download a copy or something similar.
