-Potential speed issues
-SOME slow rotation issues - Mine is working fine, YMMV
-Can't make up its mind if it wants to be on the EF02 or EF10 modem
-Battery Meter something something (can't duplicate)
-Battery life blows (YMMV) - I've uninstalled several Samsung apps and disabled logging (*#9900#) and I'm getting half-decent life - I charge throughout the day but I'd say it's comparable to previous Froyo builds
-Hardware keyboard still sucks, maybe harder
-Touch screen sensitivity - I'm not experiencing this, but YMMV. I've found sometimes using crappy cables causes weird touch screen issues.
-Various and sundry GPS complaints (I'm using the EF10 modem, not having any problems so far)
-USB connects and disconnects repeatedly when attached to computer, charging, playing media (at least, that seems to cause it on mine)

Is anyone else getting crap 3g speeds? I was getting 1.5mbps on ee03 in the same spot yesterday and now I'm getting 500kbps. Might have something to do with the weather though.

After I entered my username/password/server and click next, BOOM, force close. It's pretty funny, as I was setting up, I got a gMail message - and when that hit, that's when I got my first FC.
All I have so far is CWM, and SU installed.

Both my 3G and 4G are a bit slow, 4g is half of what it was this morning, but it seems to be normal mid-day drag in my dense urban hellhole.
Someone in the other EF02 thread said they updated their firmware and it changed the modem to EF10. Maybe that'll help the speeds.

well it sounds to me like you got the opposite of what the OTA was supposed to so, it was to improve the reboots bug and radio updates for better cell reception, the only thing I can think of is backup your data and run a factory reset on your phone and see if that brings things back to normal or improves anything, best of luck.

Anyone noticing horrible battery life after the OTA? I used to be able to go an entire day with normal use and still be around 40-50% when I plugged it in at night, It's been un-plugged for ~ 5 hours today and is already at 46%

Since coming from JVO I've noticed that:
Good
In the browser about:useragent works again.
No AndroidOS bug (so far)
Speed is good
Bad
Browser scrolling ('feature') of two pages at a time still present
Shut down sound still doesn't play
Have you tried playing any 3d games to test see if the android os battery drain bug is still present? Apparently most gameloft games, cordy and bonsai blast are known to cause it
I played the Polarbit game Raging Thunder 2 yesterday for an hour. That used to cause the battery drain, but it doesn't anymore.
Just finished playing Asphalt 5 for 20 minutes.
No battery drain.

Hey, isn't BUJV9 UK branded Vodafone firmware? I would like to know if the firmware has any Vodafone branding or apps if I install this firmware.
Thanks.
Its vodafone. The only added app i could see is a '360 update' app, for OTA updates i think. Easy enough to remove. And no branding. I installed Brotuck's rom on top anyway.
No Android OS bug you say.. I might have to check it out!

I'm curious did you flash the KC1 modem on top of JV9? If yes, how are you finding the reception?
hm interesting..
I might try to flash it tonight.
Can I still use CF-root JVO for this firmware too?
Please share your experience with android OS battery drain!
I would like to make sure this bug is gone before I flash it
Like has been said, the only 'branding' is a Vodafone 360 app.
I'm using the phone heavily and getting at least 16 hours out of it.
Gaming, GPS, WiFi and listening to music over Bluetooth. No battery drain as yet.
The one thing I'm doing different from when I was on JVO is that the phone is unrooted.
I'll root soon and see if any issues pop up.
Ok...I had left my phone on the table for about 20 minutes. Wifi was activated, but screen was off.
Looked at battery stats and saw that Android OS was on 29% where it had previously been 4% earlier in the day.
The last apps I had run were music player (over Bluetooth), and MyTracks.
Seems it's not quite fixed, but it seems better than JVO.

KC1 works well if the reception is poor and you have to use other network's signal and not Bell's. I've had JVO on 850 come up as network not available in locations KC1 had no problem connecting in. And if you're like me skiing or hiking in the backcountry, not having a signal is an option not worth having.
Good informative thread, by the way.
Browser scrolling is still only a few pages at a time and not end to end scrolling like Froyo.
Android OS issue I had may have been due to leaving WiFi selected because it hasn't happened again in normal phone use.
Battery life is generally good.
Thanks.

Hi all. I apologize for starting new thread. I am travelling right now and have NO access to a computer other than my epic. I am totally dependent upon my epic's gps and nav and the tapatalk search is not helping.
I upgraded to stock eg22 and then odined cwm and su to get root. Other than that, I am totally stock
The gps is freezing constantly when in navigation. It's losing signal and totally locking the driver so that the indicator up top says thereis a lock but there isn't.
Nothing gets rid of the frozen icon other than reboot. I tried gps on/off from quick menu, airplane mode, ending all tasks, turning off using deep setup menus....gps is useless until reboot.
It only seems to freeze during nav mode whereas regular maps seems ok...
Please help to point me towards a fix or workaround.
Thanks all!

This is a known bug with the leaks. I believe it is caused by the battery getting too hot. Try running it without the charger on and see if it goes further without a lockup. Best bet is to restore a froyo ROM but you will still be stuck with the EG22 modem until you get to a computer. I assume you have the EG22 modem already which is the best for GPS on EG22 leaks.
There is also a program in the market called GPS Aids (free) which some people have said worked for them. I still believe it is heat though.

You are correct that I am on eg22 modem. I didn't even think it could be battery issue from overheating. I can try leaving keyboard open too. That used to help with heat running wmwifi back in my wm days.
I'd rather try that before going back to ec05 rom, although would use flashable ec05 rom or modem if I have too as I'm here for another 6 days and need gps as the roads have no signs for 5-10 mile clips...

Hehe...I tried another approach which you may have in your files somewhere, a ROM that also installs the EC05 modem regardless of what modem you are on. Bonsai had ROMs that update the modem but only checked for earlier modems before swapping, not later versions.
Good luck Josh. Another trick you can use is to use the GPS for clips at a time. If there is a 20 mile run before an exit, leave it off until you get near the exit. Then start it again from there.
Let me know if you agree about the heat problem, it is a theory I am working on.

Before I went on vacation last week, I flashed back to Bonsai 4.1.3 because I knew I would need my GPS for the trip. However, I forgot to flash the EC05 modem so I was still running the EG22 modem all week. During the trip my GPS would loose signal during Navigation about every hour or two, but unlike the EG22 ROMs, it would regain signal within 20-30 seconds and recover without a reboot. I've since switched back to the EC05 modem and have yet to lose GPS signal once. Just thought I would share this in case it provides any insight.

This sounds similar to the EC05 GPS crash bug. In the last EG22 GPS thread I asked folks to record a logcat so I could very if this is the problem, but nobody took up that offer.

Do you know if Bonsai 4.1.3 contains my GPS crash fix? I don't have a changelog handy.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have your GPS crash fix, but I've never had any issue with GPS on 4.1.3, or any EC05 ROM for that matter. I use Navigation pretty extensively at one of my jobs, and it's always been reliable.
I can't compare the EG22 issue to the EC05 issue because I've never experienced one on EC05. With EG22, the GPS crashes after a period of Navigation and requires a reboot of the phone to fix it. My experience on vacation was similar, except that the GPS would recover after 20 or 30 seconds(no reboot required). This was running a EC05 ROM (bonsai 4.1.3) with the EG22 modem. Once I replaced the EG22 modem with the EC05, I was unable to replicate the issue.

I believe the EG22 issue to be different and possibly heat related. With these leaks we have had random reboots, batteries refusing to charge due to temperature and the gps freezing after an hour or so. With EC05 I had the issue where it would not lock from the start without a reboot but EG22 (and the other modems) just stop at some point and mostly require a reboot to get going again.

Certain of that? I know they've pulled in some of my fixes in the past, I'm just not sure about that one.
The EC05 GPS crash problem is due to a synchronization bug that results in interleaved requests to the modem, which gets hosed up. In practice, it happens with relatively low probability so most folks don't run into it, but it is consistently reproducable.
Now, there's probably a separate bug in EG22 that causes the GPS to puke for another reason. If the sync bug is still present, and in response to the GPS puking the RIL issues multiple request to the modem, it could cause a crash just like EC05, but it happens more frequently due to the modem bug.
With the crash bug is fixed, EG22's GPS may still puke, but as you experienced (assuming Bonsai is patched), it will likely fix itself after 20-30 seconds instead of requiriing a reboot.

Do you have reason to believe the GPS issue is related to the others, or is it because they manifest in the same leaked version?
Anyways, kernel panics and watchdog reboots are hard to debug. But a GPS crash is something we can at least log and investigate further. Which is why I'm interested in obtaining a log from someone who either experiences it, or can reproduce it.
every time i go on a road trip i flash my phone back to the last stable rom i used. no way i'm leaving NY these days with a leaked rom
for the record i drove from NYC to manchester TN via DC on EC05 with the GPS and the music player running the whole time and never lost connection for more then a minute in either direction

Fair enough. In any event, I'm still willing to take a look at a logcat if someone affected by this problem can grab one.
I have installed the EL30 update after going back to stock EC05>EI22. Here is what I have observed about EL30 (I have not applied any other fixes nor rooted yet):
-The upside down horizontal calibration for compass is fixed
-Keyboard lag is gone
-GPS improved from locking only 4 satellites to 6-7 (the GPS Fix I think, could can allow more, upto 9-12 under best conditions), so I think this made be good enough, but balancing power for battery consumption.
-"Android System" service aka CIQ is definitely gone.
-Haven't experienced speaker feedback squeal yet, although I did on EI22 after I had used voicemail and google voice search.
I have installed CWM 5.0.2.7 and rooted. I had to do the CWM flash twice (once to get SU on and open Root Explorer so I could delete the install recovery script, since there's no EL30 Kernel yet that takes out the install-recovery.sh script. I am showing only 2 bars in my house with an Airave when I normally get 4.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No, I'm getting about the same signal with my Airave. The wifi looks like more bars than EI22.
Has the rotation sensor been jerky for you in the past (skymap/yelp/other AR apps) and has EL30 made it smooth again?
Seems snappier. GPS is definitely better. Had a lock as good as 1m today for a short time while driving around and it was cloudy. 4m was the norm. Will test the modem over the next few days.
Man, if the keyboard skip is fixed and the GPS too, I'll be happier than a dead pig in the sun. The wife and I made a run from Houston to Ft Worth this weekend. I had to pull the battery about 7 times on the trip to get the GPS back on track. Extraordinarily annoying when you are trying to find your way in a place you've never been before.
No OTA here yet, probably will go the manual route. Thanks for the good news on the update, look forward to having a phone I don't have to cuss out all the time!
Sleeb
Preliminary results for me with EL30 modem running EI22 Legendary is: ~7% TWS while at home. I'll report back after a normal day at work and then going home.
With EI22 modem I would average ~3% TWS.
It's a shame I'd have any TWS since I live in a metropolitan area. Stupid Sprint coverage.
I think a lot of you need to remember that sprint is doing all kinds of stuff to towers lately and other issues may make your signal bars report differently. I'm still on ei22 and while typing this I watched my signal bars go from 0 - 2

my battery graph the line is almost like is a nice straight havent seen that in a while i have full bars for wifi and my signal ( airwave) i do have tws but i dont have good coverage like maybe a bar if i am lucky with out the airwave. but no gps lock on
edit: is anyone else have a different phone.apk the main look is the same but when you receive a call?
is the android version still 2.3.5 or is it 2.3.6?

a few things I've noticed:
GPS has improved
bug where GPS icon remains on screen after GPS has been shut off has been fixed
battery life is considerably worse
I'm getting horrible GPS I only get like 4 out of 11 fixs and on my way to work this morning which is about 30 miles I kept losing gps would search for sattelites for forever as soon as i closed navigation it would work again for a few minutes then do it again.

You may want to try resetting your A-GPS state using GPS Status app in the Market.

Yes rotation sensor was upside down starting in EB13 Froyo and has been until EL30. You could fix it though by doing your horizontal calibration upside down. Now you don't have to.

Funny, I was just about to post a little message about my stupidity and battery life.
Since I keep things mostly stock, my upgrade routine was to backup apk/data, and system data in MyBackup, then reflash back to stock EI22, install the EL30 update, do the CWM/root dance, and restore stuff in MyBackup. All went well, but my battery life was about %70 of what it was. For the first 2 days I just figured I was playing with the phone too much, but today I started plowing through the settings. What I found was that even though I had restored everything in MyBackup, not every setting stuck. For instance, Facebook was set to update every hour even though it had previously been set to never update. I also had to re-freeze DRM after the install. There may still be more things I haven't found.
The point is after an upgrade, especially if you have re-installed stuff, go through every setting you can think of that could be killing your battery. It's possible that some app has been inadvertently set to connect too often and that is what is killing the battery too fast.

That was the very first thing I tried and it hasn't made a difference.

So, I manually flashed the recent OTA. Felt like sharing what I have noticed.
For one thing, EVERYTHING is snappier. Going into recent apps is fast, home screen and apps don't take forever to load. That's a definite improvement. If it changes after running for awhile, I'll update.
Google Now's Always On voice recognition now works. I couldn't get it to work while away from the Google Now launcher before the update.
Uncertain about battery consumption with browsers yet. I'm hopeful, and the back of my tablet not being a toaster oven all the time while browsing on Xda gives me hope, but again, this is me just being hopeful.
Nothing for enabling the notification LED yet. Weird.

Thanks for the impressions. Hopefully the excessive power usage while using browser is fixed or will be soon.
I will note though that even though it shouldn't need to be used to avoid using Chrome, I think that using Tapatalk to browse XDA is a better experience. IMO, of course.

I noticed this too and im glad it wasnt only me. Certain websites cause the tablet to heat up, sometimes taking up as much as 40-50% CPU in the background until i force stop it.
Just flashed and rerooted. I hope its smooth now

can you confirm that CF-Auto-Root still works with the latest OTA?

Will do a factory reset after this update to get a smooth new start
Any updates on the heated section next to the camera where the processor is at?

That heat is coming from the processor, that just means it's just under heavy load.
Sadly, WiFi 802.1x auth still doesn't work (PEAP) and the "Sign-in to Wifi network" screen is still blank for me. (Tested with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller at work.)

I've noticed the same thing. Basically the stutter and lags have pretty much been fixed. For those wondering the home screen refresh has also been fixed.
I've been testing battery life today in combination with the chrome beta browser. Where I used to get 4/5 hours of sot with a single charge I'm now at 4.15 minutes of sot with 52% of battery left.
The new update has done wonders for the n9 and it just shows how much lollipop is still in it's infancy and still needs some updates to get everything sorted out. I'm sure it's the same for the Nexus 6.

IS this refresh the re-draw of the launcher when turning the device orientation in an app and then exiting?

I think he is referring to the re-draw that seems to occur randomly when returning back to the home screen. Based on the impressions I may just flash the factory image to LRX21Q if these improvements are widespread. I still haven't received the OTA and can't sideload it because my tablet is still on the pre-release BL for some reason.

Was never a problem with my nexus 9. Working flawless.
It feels faster for sure, doesn't seem to get as hot either but maybe it does.
Yes I definitely see the improvement. I was one of the first buyers on the first day. But the unit I got has defected NFC chip. I returned it and got a replacement. Latest update definitely fixed the stutters and lags. I can vow for this.

Is this under heavy usage?
Overheating and Screen Flickering
Do you think that the overheating issue near the camera and the issue where the screen is flickering when the device is not at full brightness, can be fixed by a software update or a firmware update?

Just a heads-up, this OTA provides a VERY significant performance improvement - there was a Kernel regression that they fixed on this build regarding memory cgroups. Its very noticeable while using the tablet with this new patch.
I haven't noticed a difference yet but I didn't do s full wipe when I flashed.
