Rooted my phone 6 months ago using the ultimate s off method in the dev section and had clockwork recovery 2.x installed. Never flashed any custom roms or did anything else to the phone. Woke up this morning and the phone was on the white my touch 4g splash screen and stayed that way for at least an hour after I noticed it. Pulled the battery and now when I start the phone, goes directly to a white screen with 3 androids on skateboards in the middle of the screen and stays there indefinitely. I can not boot into recovery and my computer does not recognize it when I connect via USB. Am I fully bricked? Any ideas? The phone is unresponsive when the android guys are on screen. Have to pull the battery to turn it off. Any advice is appreciated.
Have you tried using PD15IMG?
I have no way of launching it. I can put that file on the root of my SD card using a memory card reader but once its on my card, I still can not access the file since I can not boot into Recovery console and my computer does not see my phone when I connect via USB. All I can do with my phone is turn it on. Once it turns on, it goes to the white screen with the android guys.
hboot automatically sees the file when you boot into it. The screen with the three awesome android's trying not to bust their ass on the skateboards while trying to impress the girls that you can't see is hboot. Also, recovery is an option in hboot, just press volume down to scroll through the menu and highlight Recovery. Hit power to select it, and bam, you're in recovery, and three little skateboarding androids just got their first girlfriend.
(yes, there is a lot of sucky humor in there)
Sorry, I don't think I was clear and maybe I used the wrong terms. When I boot the phone, regardless of what I press (just the power button, or power button and volume down), nothing happens except the phone automatically goes to a white screen with the three boarding androids in the middle of the screen. Nothing else is on the screen, no menus to select options from, nothing. No matter what button combo I press, I can not get to hboot with options.
Thanks
Bryan

Try loading the PD15IMG on the root of the SD Card. Pull the battery, put the battery back in hold the volume down rocker and the power button. That should boot you into hBoot.
Thank for your comments everyone. Even with PD15IMG on the root of my SD card, there is no way to get into hBoot. Volume down and power button does nothing, I've gotten into hBoot other times previous so I know how to do it. Not sure what would have caused this issue since it's been rooted since December and nothing else done to the phone. Looks like a call to tmo today.

Does this method work with ultimate s-off? I thought only root.sh could be done this way.

PD15IMG will load everything back to 100% stock. if you used the ./gfree method, it will still maintain s-off but everything else will revert back.
why not try the ruu of htc panache, it will flash everything, dont worry you can come back to stock my touch 4G ROM.

now remove battery, plug in the usb [makesure its working]and than pressing volume down press power.
now run the ruu...
u may have to try multiple times, with differet ways like powering phone off and back on while on RUU if ur not able to get on bootloader. though 3 droids screen is bootloader.
Are you at all familiar with ADB? You could always push the IMAGE file to the root of the phone and then use ADB to push the reboot bootloader command.
I can't use ADB because my computer doesn't even recognize the phone when connected via USB. I never had problems with my PC seeing my phone before this issue happened, now it's like it's not even connected.

You can manually install the drivers as it is on the SD card as well. Just install them again on the computer then use ADB.

That's with the phone connected. All he has to do is take the card out and put it in the computer and mount as normal sd card. Then he can install the HTC drivers that are on the SD card. This is a simple fix.

Okay. Let me ask you this. I do not have the drivers on my SD card, nor on my work computer. But my work computer still picks it up. I do not have "windows" drivers on my home linux machine. Why does it pick up my phone?
and he had to have the driver previously installed for the computer to pick up the phone. the files that are stored on the SDCard are/were a .exe which installs to the HD of the computer.
Here are the hold your hand directions:
Disconnect phone from computer.
Turn off phone
Take microSD card out of phone
Put said microSD card into appropriate card reader/microSD card adapter
Put said adapter into card reader/USB port of computer
Wait until Windows/Linux system recognizes removable storage
Open folder into view
Dbl click on the file named HTC Drivers
Install like normal
Unmount the card
Put card back into phone
Turn phone on
Plug phone into computer
Run CMD
Then run ADB DEVICES
Proceed from there with your commands

Depending on whether he installed a different ROM, the computer will try and recognize the device as a new/different device each time and will/might need to install the drivers each time. That's why you never delete them off your sd card.

I found a site with someone who bricked their phone but found a loop hole. I have never bricked my phone and hoping i never will but for those who have bricked their phone here are some steps to try to unbrick it! HOPE IT HELPS! SEND FEED BACK!!
So you can’t access bootloader or recovery and the only thing that works is the blue led trick when pressing trackball + power button??
Try the procedure below.
Step 1: Turned Phone off by taking out the battery.
Step 2: Prepared SD card
Put SD card in card reader and formatted it as FAT32, copied the DREAIMG.nbh onto it.
Or try Sapphimg.nbh
Step 3: Put SD card back in phone
Step 4: Hold Vol down + Power + track ball together and put battery to start phone
Step 5: Run update
IF THAT DIDNT WORK!
TRY THIS!
Step 1: Turning Off Your Phone
Because you have a bricked phone, you can't just hold the power button. So if your phone is not already off then you're going to want to take out the battery.
Step 2: Preparing Our SD card
Take out your SD card and put it into an SD card reader or some type of other adapter so that we can view it from our computer. If you cannot view the SD card on your computer then you're going to need a new SD card.
Download DREAIMG-RC29.zip and unzip the file.
Reformat the SD card to FAT32 and copy the DREAIMG.nbh onto it.
Safely eject the SD card.
Put the SD card into your device.
Step 3: Wipe The Phone
Hold home and press the power button.
When you see the image of an ! mark, open your keyboard and press Alt + L if you cannot see any command options.
Do a factory reset by pressing Alt + W or just using the trackball.
When the reset is done, go ahead and hold the camera button and select the reboot system now option with your trackball.
Step 4: Flashing The Phone
Once the grey screen pops up (or the white screen if your phone was rooted with JesusFreke) it will ask you to hit a button to start installing the image…press that button. DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP THIS PROCCESS. It will take about 8-12 minutes.
When the image has completed the installation (it will say completed), go ahead and press the green, red, and menu buttons at the same time. The phone will reboot.
And your done! Your phone is now unbricked!.
The G1 screen will hang there for a good minute or two, but be paticiant, it will boot. Now you have a choice. Try to hack your phone again, because you're in the correct state to have another go, or, you can stick with the official Android. Now if you choose to stick with the official Android, here's what you do.
Step 1: Upgrading to Android 1.0 RC33
Download the file signed-PLAT-RC33-from-RC30.zip
Rename the file to update.zip and copy it to your SD card
Reboot your phone into recovery mode. Power off the phone first and then hold down the Home key while powering it back on.
The recovery mode is finished loading when you see the ! mark inside the triangle. Press Alt + L to display the list of options.
Press Alt + S to flash the file update.zip.
Wait for the update to apply. Your phone may reboot during this process so be patient.
Press Home + Back if prompted to reboot your phone.
Step 2: Upgrading to Android 1.5 CRB43
Download the file signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.
Step 3: Upgrade to Android 1.5 CRC1
Download the file signed-kila-CRC1-from-CRB43-FIX.7ca4a1d7.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.
Step 4: Upgrade to Android 1.6 DRC83
Download the file signed-kila-DRC83-from-CRC1.c41b93c1.zip
Repeat the steps from above to flash the update file.

run fastboot boot recovery-image.img or whatever you named your recovery image. It'll display "waiting for device..." message just keep pluging it in, unplugging, popping the battery and eventually your device will respond and boot into recovery.
Someone bricked and i did it... twice trying to flash the eng 2010 SPL. It worked the third time and my device is up and running again with an engineering SPL.
if your device is stuck on the first splash but displays in red "Fastboot USB" message in the upper left corner of the screen, DO NOT power it down. run the above mentioned command and reflash.

fastboot boot recovery?
boot.img and recovery.img are two totally different things.
The recovery (amon_ra is preferred)
The boot.img is where the kernel, ramdisk, etc resides.
you must've meant fastboot flash boot boot.img
or
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
but not both.

Bricked mytouch3g -- brandnew phone. Just tried to flash cyanogen test3 and everything went fine but then I rebooted and all I have is vodafone boot screen, nothing else works but the blue led which will not load any img. adp doesn't work it never detects a phone no matter what you do. It was the first flash too. Crazy how HTC didn't make a built in hard reset like you have on windows mobile phones. You wonder if they want people to crash there phones so they have to replace them ect etc.

if you're getting that, quit and unplug the phone, take out the battery so it's completely dead (and take out the sim card while you're at it)
then put back just the battery and put the phone into download mode (volume down + power)
then run odin and THEN plug in the phone. you have to do it in the right order otherwise it gets stuck on file analysis. go figure.

No.
If you had a messed up original Captivate install, do this:
Unplug
Remove Battery
Reinstall Battery
Hold the DOWN volume button, THEN the power button.
Should go right into Download mode
Open the Odin flasher
Plug USB in
Wait for the connection.
If you're trying to recover from having Vibrant firmware installed, it's the same, but you need to hold the VOLUME UP button instead of DOWN.
i did exactly what u said, remove battery completely, insert battery, hold down first, then press power until it powers up. i get the same issue. a black screen with a graphic that looks like this:

I had the same exact issue while trying to flash the firmware. What you need to do is make sure your phone is off. Open Odin. Attach the phone to your PC. Hold down and press power and it will boot into downloading mode. ODIN MUST BE OPEN!
As long as its attached to the PC and Odin is open it will go into downloading mode, not the picture that you are seeing.

What is the current Rom on your HD2?
are you using magldr or clk? if your using magldr i might try a fresh install of it & flash a different ROM...lets say BLUETOPIA HD. (personal choice) dont forget to partition your sd card and phone if the ROM you choose asks to do so. this might not be necessary & maybe its a bit overkill but i find that when i have similar problems this takes care of it. dont foget to wipe data/cache/delvic. or if the problems persist you can always flash a windows mobile ROM.
@yerdan, I'm running stock desire from DFT
@htccraze, I'm pretty sure I'm using magldr. is clk better?
i can get into boot loader mode, and the recovery but not into adb recovery
anyhelp?
i cant even get the phone to connect to usb
Did you install recovery? CWM or CLK?
HERE IS VIDEO HOW TO DO IT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pxucOLY488
OR FOLLOW MY STEPS.
To do this just download this pack: http://www.multiupload.com/VZ1WB57AOY
To install CWM follow these steps:
1. Unpack CWM.zip
2. Double click on DAF.exe
3. Connect your phone to your computer using USB cable
4. Switch your phone ON and HOLD RED CALL button until you see magldr options
5. Using Volume DOWN button go to USB FLASHER and press GREEN CALL button
6. Now, click NEXT, NEXT in DAF.exe program
7. You need to wait until it connects with your phone, and if it's connected it will install CWM (installing will take few seconds)
8. Now your phone will restart
9. HOLD RED BUTTON to get in to magldr options and go to AD RECOVERY, press green button to open it
10. Then go to MOUNT option and press green button
11. Now go to MOUNT STORAGE or MOUNT SD i don't remember it is the last one, so go to it using VOLUME button and the press green button
12. Now you can put Android on your SD card
13. So download this build, it is very quick: http://www.multiupload.com/8UPNV5WUZU
14. After you downloaded it, put it on to your SD card
15. When it is finished, in you phone press green button and BACK button two times to get in to CWM main screen
16. Now choose Install zip or something like this i dont remember (dont choose update.zip)
17. and choose NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.8_NAND_(Android-2.3.4)_update.zip from the list and press green button
18. After it is finished press back button and choose reboot phone option.
And you're done! Android will boot.

Does it charge the phone through USB?
Why do you think it's bricked? Does it boot to magldr?
What ERROR do you get after running DAF.exe?
Have you tried to see if it is recognized on different computer?
If you haven't got any other computer to check, then try to install Windows 7 on new partition and see if it works there because it might be some problem with drivers, I remember that I've used to have a problem with my old nokia phone, it was detected by pc but something happened and it wasn't recognized by pc anymore, I tried to reinstall drivers etc but didn't work. What I did was I reinstalled Windows and it worked.
BTW: Are you running DAF.exe as Administrator?

To go on flash screen, i push reboot+power off+ vol down button. Next on emagldr 1.13 screen, i select "5.usb flasher".
Next i can check on my computer's now recognyzed as " Microsoft USB Sync", but the stock rom still not abble to work:" no phone response, check usb cable"
I'm sure that my usb cable is working.
Any suggestion ?
You might try going into the normal bootloader, not into MAGLDR.
Push both vol. down and power buttons until the device starts into the multicolor bootloader screen, then connect the USB cable.
If you didn´t change your PC, it should now be able to connect via ActiveSync.

Thanx for your answer, i think the bug is here i cannot enter normal tri-color bootloader, it doesnt work :s
When i do power+ vol down until the device start, i first have a blank Htc screen maybe 1sec, and quikly next boot menu from MAGLDR 1.13
However, i'm sure that my Vol Down button work, it works on magldr menu.
try pulling out the battery, then hold down the two volume buttons, as hard as you can safely get away with, pop the battery back in whilst still holding buttons down, if it doesnt start tap the power button. keep holding down the buttons through out the whole process until it comes on.
if you can read the content of your sd card in pc then you can flash WinMo6.5 rom via sd card.... :
- go to HTC website, download appropriate rom for your HD2 with your s/n
- extract NBH file from downloaded ROM (can be done with 7-zip, Winzip...)
- rename extracted IMG file to LEOIMG.NBH
- copy that file to SD card
- boot your HD2 with SD card while holding VOL DOWN
- you should see a flash menu appear, press VOL DOWN again (if i remember.. ) and you'll flash 6.5 rom
- that's it, you'll have new instance of WinMO 6.5, with stock SPL, without MAGLDR and ANY trace of WP7.-..
oh, if you dont see anything on your SD card or you cant copy to it, it is locked and you have to format it either with some utility or in a Nokia N, E series phone... I know for a fact that N79 works
this should do the trick...

huh, must be that i'm blind missed it completely
Thx for taking time to help me,
So, if i push vol up and down, i 've a screen, next the screen loading wph 1,2,3,4 Go.
I read on it "This operation will 1.delete all your personal data, and reset all setting to manufacturer default. 2. Calculate CRC checksum. Press Voldown to restore manufacturer default, or press Vol Up to get CRC, or press other keys to cancel".
But,
Nothing happend if i press vol down, or volUp or other buttons :s
Maybe we've to try another way to get into bootloader, i think my poor batterie level is bugging the bootloader.
So, I known that we can't acces bootloader via windows.
I'm on Seven x64, my hd2 is recognyzed as a phone7 Device, with a yellow "!".
If i launch HSPL 4, with administrator right, and XP SP2 compatibility level, it can't acces via USb. " no response".
Any suggestions ? May i change the driver?
right, well that proves the buttons are working, i think its just a case of not having them held in at the right time
pop the battery out, hold down the vol down button on its own and keep it held down, put the battery back in and if it doesnt restart tap the power button.
dont let go of the vol down button
Yep, i've done this maybe 30 or 40 times, no way, no bootloader.
I4ve found a thread that explain to fullu charge the battery, remove it and wait 24H before, do the operation ( vol down, putt battery still vol down, push power stil vol down) No way, this doesn't work :s
So i've order a new battery, maybe it'll resolve the problem, i hope. See when it arrive.
Oh dear, well if you definitely cant get in to bootloader and the keys do work then that's a problem, I doubt a battery will fix it but id be interested in knowing if it does work, good luck! Is been reading quite a bit about fixing devices via the wee metal points inside devices, I wonder I the points inside the hd2 will allow this...

I'm not sure i've understand all your reply Dazza, are u suggesting to check the 3 pin connector baterry on my HD2 ?
If it's this, i've already check this, the 3 pin are good, and i've put a graphyte electrical dust on it to improve the contact.
Nope, I mean if you pop the battery cover off there are 3 metal connectors next to the sim card, it seems on some devices people have found similar points and managed to connect the device to a serial port on a pc, then had direct access to the device bypassing the bootloader. I don't think anyone done this for the hd2 yet but apparently this will fix a completely bricked device

Ok ! Maybe if the new battery won't resolve, i'll try something like that
Its complicated an as far as i know its not been done for the hd2, im not even sure that's the correct points but its a possibility. There are another 2 points on the opersite side to the volume buttons under the battery cover.

How are you wiping with out recovery...from fastboot? Have you tried this method? You should still be able to do it even though you are S-on. Just rename the file HERCIMG on your sd card. The directions are at the top of the post. Make sure you don'e have it named HERCIMG.zip.zip (It's already a zip file so you don't need to add that). Once you put on your sd card, turn phone on by holding the volume down and turning on with power button, Trackball is enter. Action is the green phone button.

What happened a week ago to cause this?

Thanks a lot for the reply.
Already done HERCIMG.zip and it completed and then booted up again to white HTC Screen.
Did it multiple times already and i am on official 2.31.651.7 at the moment
Nothing happened, the phone was discharged once i recharged it it just dont boot.
One more peculiar thing my Fastboot screen blinks comes on and off and so on i have to keep the home and back button pressed to stop it.

All else fails(i.e System etc) with Remote not allowed
