restoring from titanium backup (2.2 -> 1.6) - G1 General

Do the restore not work when you move to an earlier android version.i recently loaded up super D.my backups were made in Froyo by Laszlo.I usually restore my sms and call logs via Titanium but in this case it did not work, also tried it on Super E and still the same result.so is it that the backups dont work if u move to an earlier build of android?

Backingup and migrating from villian 3.4 to 4.0

Ive been using villian 3.4 for a while now and have gotten it just the way i like it, i really want to move to 4.0 but i just find it so time consuming to install all the apps and change all the settings and add accounts etc, is there a backup program that will basically transfer everything over ?
Try Titanium Backup, donate version.
Install it from the market and make a batch backup of all user apps + system data.
Then reboot into recovery and make sure you don't forget to perform a nandroid backup (to be able to revert in case something goes wrong).
Now you can install the new ROM and then use Titanium Backup again, this time to restore apps, settings, market entries, the works...
Good luck!

Best backup on Froyo rom?

What is the best backup method for the froyo roms we are all running?
I usually use My Backup Pro but it doesn't restore all my apps for some reason? Also used Titanium but ended up stuck at white HTC screen after a restore and even nandroid restore to clean rom install didn't work. Was I just unlucky once with Titanium? Can titanium backup SMS etc too I only saw apps it never restored SMS. Thanks!
Titanium Backup does it all for me.
SMS's, e-mail(accounts), wireless networks. (All apps, appdata and systemdata)
Can't think of anything it doesn't backup.
I always run a batch backup, this force closes running applications (although this is optional), so this might cause a white screen.
It's supposed to do everything you want, so there's no need to look any further (unless it really doesn't work for you...)

Mate, whar version of MyBackup Pro are you using? I know that there were certain bug fixes after v2.3.3. Im using v2.3.4 and it seems to work fine when backing up and restoring apps/data.
Try the later version.
2.3.6 so I guess it is some incompatibility somewhere. Just gone back to MCR 3.1 and it did the same. Probably less than half my apps were restored!
i can confirm that Mybackup pro 2.4.0 works flawlessly on froyo.. im backing up as we speank
If you have the native A2SD enabled on FroYo, MyBackup Pro won't back up the apps that are on the SD card.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
i'm using titanium, not had any problems with backups. i use A2SD+ not the froyo A2SD though.
I use backup pro.
just make sure you have a partitioned sd card with can be done with rom manager or you will lose all your sd apps when you wipe before installing a new rom.
as i did..... haha

MIUI + Titanium backup issues

Hey guys. I'm trying to transition from MIUI back to a Sense rom. My problem is, Titanium Backup doesn't seem to want to work with this switch. I'll backup all my apps in MIUI, but when i nandroid restore to my new install, Titanium reports it only has one app available to be restored. What am i missing??
Try to uninstall, reboot and then reinstall TB and see if it sees all the backups it made.
Tried that. It says it's backed up all apps when in MIUI, but as soon as i flip over to my Sense rom it says there aren't any apps to be restored.
Have you tried MyBackup root? IME its a better app and more reliable.
I'll give it a shot. I was just about to give up. This is one of the most frustrating ROM transitions i've ever experienced.
The other thing I was gonna say was to delete all the backups, then make new ones and try again.
Normally, I create a new folder and move all the TB Backups there, just incase I need to restore something from the past
I thought i did that. I wiped out the folder that TB backs up to in Dropbox, but when i tried to restore missing apps on the Sense rom, it restored dozens of old, OLD apps i haven't had installed in months and restored NONE of the new apps i've installed on MIUI. Still not sure how exactly that happened.
You have to delete or move the backup files on your SD card. That's where TB reads them and stores them. Drop box is just a backup... for your backups
Right....so what i did was clear the folder, on drop box, sync from my MIUI build, restored to my Sense build, synced with dropbox(which downloads the files), then restored missing apps. Somehow that process pulled in all my month+ old apps.

Restore sms with titanium backup?

When I try to restore my sms messages with titanium backup all the conversation threads re appear but none of the messages are there. I backed up and tried to restore my sms on touchwiz based 4.4.2 roms. I've read around a bit and it seems like titanium backup isnt the best for restoring sms messages, I should have probably used a specific sms backup app. However, some people are saying restoring sms works with titanium backup on aosp roms so could I flash an aosp rom, resotre my sms with titanium backup, backup with a proper sms backup app, and then restore that new backup to my current rom ?
Is there any other way I can get my sms from the titanium backup ? Like can I convert it to a different backup type or something or open it and restore it with something else ?
Any help and advice will be appreciated, thanks.
Never mind I got it. I flashed an aosp rom, restored the sms trhough titanium backup, took a backup of that with sms backup and restore from the playstore, and restored the backup from that app on to my current touchwiz rom.

Backup apps and data

Hi,
I need to backup my apps and data, contacts and messages. I used to backup with GO Backup, and it worked flawlessly up to android 4.4, but now on LP and M I can not use it anymore. It was very simple and as soon as I restored my backups everything was back to normal (I didn't even need to login or register again in apps like instagram or whatsapp...). Now I use Titanium, but after restoring backups, I should login to every app, which is troublesome and it can not backup contacts and messages.
I was wondering what app you use with LP or M for backups, and if it is as simple and effective as GO Backup ?

I have the last version, I think it's 3.51. It can not backup apps and data, I've given go backup root permissions, but when it starts, an error is being shown, saying that go backup can not read or write sd card. do you know anyway around it ?

change the storage location to internal bcoz in miui lp sdcard can be write only with default explorer
Contacts & Messages backing up possible with Titanium backup .. For contact's backup go to Titanium backup > contact storage ... Do Same for messages..
Easiest way to Backup contacts is google
