Email problem on Prime 1.4 - Eee Pad Transformer General

I appear to have two email clients running. Asus email and Gmail. Both are set to the same account. Both report email in the inbox and both report email in the status bar. Clicking either on the status bar takes me to either app. The issue is I love using the Asus email widget. But if I click on that widget it takes me to the Gmail app by default. Not the Asus email app which it should. If I unsync the Asus email account I get nothing reported in the widget that new email has arrived. If I delete the account in the Gmail app will the widget then take me to the Asus app??? I don't want to delete it if it doesn't. If anything I would just like the Asus email widget to take me to the Asus email app like it should!

The two shouldn't have any connections to one another.
When you click on the Asus email widget and it take you to
the email page, is there a "yellow" email icon or the Gmail "Red M" icon?

It is yellow. I also cannot turn Asus email sync back on now. I will send a test email and set the Gmail app to check every 5 minutes and see if the widget responds.
EDIT: I think I know what has happened. I called my account GMail. I thought it was taking me to the GMail app but it isn't. D'OH! Gonna test the email notification now.

LOL, glad you got it figured out.

Any idea why I can't turn GMail sync back on though?
EDIT: Now in settings it says both GMail and Asus email sync is off and I can't figure out how to turn them back on!
Nevermind figured it out. Sheesh! That's what happens when they install two email clients by default!

Emails mark as unread goes back to being unread

I configured my work email to work with Nexus One's stock email app. I can download emails from the server, but there's a problem.
In the case of most messages, whenever I mark them as read, they are marked as unread again whenever I update my mail account from the server.
I deleted and configured this account 3-4 times already, but it's always the case.
Any fix?
EDIT:
When I configure it for the firs time, all the emails are unread. There are the ones that I actually open and they won't revert back to being unread. However, the ones that I just marked as read (with the "Mark Read" button while they are selected) revert back to being unread
same thing.
i thought it's something wrong with the email server (i have some live.com and hotmail.com email accounts installed). no problems with the gmail accounts tho.
to solve this annoying problem (if unread then you's keep receiving notifications), i have to open every single emails to actually 'read' them.
i am looking for a better way to solve this.

This is a bit offtopic, but do you find it slow to fetch messages too? My iPod Touch downloads messages for the same account faster
I have exactly the same problem on my N1..
If anyone knows how to fix, please tell us too. thanks.
p.s. I don't think it's problem at mail server, it should be the email app problem for sure. Because I using pop3. the read/unread status is handle at email client app.

Yep. My iPod Touch downloads the mails from the same server without any issue
I mentioned this before on another thread but I use my main Gmail to poll all my POP3 accounts which are then pushed to the Gmail App labelled. I don't use the Email App at all.

HTC Mail vs. Gmail App

Ok... so I've recently migrated to Android after several years of WinMo Standard - Windows CE - 5.0 - 6.0 - 6.1 - 6.5.
So far I like Android and I love this phone... never had anything has fast or with such a great screen.
With that being said I'm having several issues that I wanted to run by the people here and see what ya'll thought.
Quick setup background - I have two email accounts I like to use - Gmail and Yahoo. I have all of my conacts in gmail organized the way I like it. Also, I recently gave up on using MS Outlook to manage my contacts and calendar and now use Gmail and Google Calendar to manage those two exclusively.
So here goes my impression/questions/issues - hoping someone can shed some light on it.
In the past with WinMo I could set up POutlook to sync with gmail/g-calendar/google contacts by configuring m.google.com as my activesync/exchange server. Everything seemed to work great. Now however I cannot decide if I should set up the accounts on the INC to sync via exchange or google.
So first question - when using HTC Mail and setting up my gmail account as an exchange server account is it "true" push?
If it is why would anyone want to use the gmail app?
Next - when I set my calendar to sync via exchange it randomly takes my entries and duplicates them on places the duplicate on the day before the original one. Any idea why? When I remove the active sync calendar and have it sync with my google account everything is correct... this is strange to me since its pulling the same data from the same place, my google calendar.
I'm sure I'll add more confusing and rambling thoughts after I continue to mess with this thing.
Thanks!
from my understanding the gmail is instant push and the htc mail app refreshes every 5 minutes (minimum). if this makes a difference to you then it should make your decision easier. hope this helps

i had issues with gmail not pushing properly when set up as an exchange account via HTC mail. other than the push issue, i consider the HTC app superior in every way.
I just set the HTC mail to manual, turn off the notifications to HTC mail. I set gmail it notification on, then every time gmail pushes in the mail I check it with the HTC mail. After I check it the notification goes away.
This way you can still use HTC mail without it waisting battery power every 5 minutes pull checking.

might do this. thanks for the idea
If you set up your gmail account as an exchange account using m.google.com you can get push by changing your check frequency to "as arrive".
The issue I'm having is that the HTC Mail application wont open any attachments from my gmail account set up through exchange. I just get a message "The file cannot be opened because it is corrupted."
If I open with the gmail application it works fine
As a regular Gmail user, I find the Android Gmail app is superior to the HTC mail app. It gives me the same features I have when using a computer... like marking a star on a conversation, viewing different labels, and since I have multiple email addresses that my Gmail account polls, the Gmail app lets me see which of my email addresses was the recipient. It's right there in the label on the email list, without having to open each mail and look at the address information.
If you don't use Gmail, or have multiple email addresses that AREN'T automatically polled by your Gmail account, I'd agree that HTC Mail is nice. But for me it takes away too many of the nice Gmail features that I use. My $.02

This doesn't push. It pulls. If you look closely you will see a refresh icon flash in your notification bar every 5 seconds. Extreme battery usage.
As far as opening up your attachments, set it for Imap. Its the only way I got it to work for attachments.

Expect copy and paste from it, which I use a lot.
i like gmail app, because there is a delete button haha
htc one need to hit menu and hit delete.
Gmail...
I found using the Gmail app and the HTC Mail separately, I was killing my battery faster.
What I ended up doing, was having GMail PULL my pop mail, and then I'd just pull it all through the gmail app. Helped my battery life a great deal.
Pro's - Everything in one place, Easy batch delete
Con's - I have to TELL it to load the entire message (Show Picture). In HTC I didn't have to do that.
Other than that, I'm happy to have everything centralized.

Email app questions

Is it me, or does the email app not pick up all of the emails that are actually in my inbox? I went to check my email through the application because I had recently registered to a new forum.. I didnt see the email in my inbox on the email app on my epic, so I went on the computer and checked my email manually through yahoo. It showed the email in my inbox on the computer through yahoo, but I then refreshed the email app on my phone and the email still didnt show up. Does anyone else have this problem, is it the app? Also is it possible to have the email app recieve the email through push, instead of searching for new mail every so couple of minutes (or however long I set it to)?
Thank you!
Gmail will push. I normally get notification on my phone before my pc.

Need answers on Huawei email app.

First time using huawei phone, and have been using it about over a week, I have notices that when setting a email account, there is no push mail like that on other android phones, only auto sync every 15 mintes or more, does everyone else get this also. Because of this, all my emails usually arrive late.
Another problem, I have set my email account for auto sync, including gmail, but everytime the power saving mode (not ultra power saving mode) is on, the auto sync gets disables, a message in gmail states this, do people also get this.
I can't really answer you question but have you tried using a 3rd Party email app? I'm very happy with BlueMail. Push notifications with 3 integrated accounts that I use.

Thanks for reply, I had the problem about push mail sorted out, i setup a corporate account and installed the outlook app, after that the default email app, showed the push mail setting, not sure the reason behind it, but it's all sorted.

I haven't tried that and at the moment I don't have my S8 with me, but tap and hold on your email app and when context menu comes app, tap "app info". There look for permissions and see what is turned on or off. This is just the theory and this is what I would first try to do.
Hello,
Thanks for the tip.
I'll write 5 mains email address each time I want to send one.
Regards
