Rooting,anything left? - Epic 4G General

I dropped my phone 2 feet with an otterbox on,and the entire screen shattered... I am taking it in,so do I need to do anything besides get s on and flash a ruu? Do I need to uninstall hoot?

wrong forum? this is the epic forum... not evo ...

Yeah I just got that. Sorry can't read that on my screen. But its still the same concept ,right ?

Just bring it back to stock

Not really from what I understand. We have way more flexibility with our odin utility than you do with your ruu. We can flash any version of software and with any mods through our utility. I believe you need to follow either your un root method or something else also you need to turn security off or they will know you have rooted

Android Anonymous XDA Discussion Thread

This thread is for discussing all themes, mods and rom's made by Android Anonymous.
Our rom was not locked due to safety issues. It is perfectly fine to.flash.
I never accepted donations... I don't do it for money... and it is a pain to find and put all of that together with no issues manually if someone didn't put it in a 'rom'. There are alot if other rom development that do the same thing. I didn't bring any 'wonders' to the epic. People like the people you listed. I didn't know the kernel was part of a payed rom and neither did b-reezy. Someone else (unnamed) sent us a link to the rom without informing us it was donate ware. On a side fact, requiring money of a firmware based on a free os by Samsung and Google without proper permission would be illigal and since it is just a modified Samsung kernel without permissions to require money for the rom that contains it, it is technically free. But it wasnt do to anything about being donate-ware, it was due to with it cantaining a part of bonsai. Stop spamming the thread with this crap. I won't switch to a different kernel until ext4 is made by someone other than bonsai... Hopefully that clarifies it all.

Bro, love your work you're doing to help keep this community moving forward. I like the i1 rom and running it right now. My only issue the pain in the a$$ time I have with gps, though I know that's not your fault.

Why is your ROM under investigation? If that's not out of the question to ask.
Aside from that, I do love your work. You really get **** done
Great idea.... You have been doing good work man.
I have some sort of glitch going on here. All of a sudden my touchscreen became totally unresponsive when the keyboard is closed. I flashed my nandroid backup and its still not working. Is there possibly some button I could have accidently hit while my phone was in my pocket that disables touchscreen?

I would delete /.bonsai/ and the beta on your sdcard then download the beta on a PC and put on your phone.

System update

I just got a message just a few momenta ago on my phone to download a update. I didn't take it but wanted to ask, it says it was an update for 2.3 gingerbread and said it was for 4.22.651.1
I'm puzzled because my phone says I'm running 4.22.651.2 and thought I was screwed out of being able to root.
Can any one help me understand this, and let me know if I'm capable of rooting cause I've done my homework and realized that I'm just S.O.L. for now
Or am I?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
And I'm also using GB 2.3.3
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
yeah, you are updated. uncheck the "check for updates" in the settings. If you take it, you will lose root.
I never take any updates ever. Updates are plots to make you hate your phone ie NO ROOT
Sent from my Synergized Evo
Can't stress this enough so I'll say it again. If you are rooted never ever take any OTA updates.. Ever!
I'm not rooted and I didn't take it.

Yeah, thats what it is for. I am looking at it right now.
Quick question, if I am already on the previous OTA Update without root, I might as well update right?

Why not? You going to stay on the same version forever?
I was rooted and accepted the ota... And I'm still rooted. Just flash recovery and then superuser and you'll be set.
Sent from my OTA accepted, fully rooted EVO.
I've never accept an OTA, but want to. I unrooted to go to Sprint, the phone is being swapped, but would rather have Gingerbread until then. When I check for updates it finds none even though it has 2.2 on it now. Any idea why?

The reason I ask is WHEN they finally find a way to root 2.3.3 I don't want to be kicking myself in the butt for taking the OTA. I don't know if the update has anything that would make it harder for me in the future.
Any thoughts?

No, all they did basically was update the kernel. If you don't take it, your battery is gonna be draining way too fast. There is nothing in 4.24 that isn't in 4.22 as far as being able to root it goes.
Plus if you don't take it you won't be able to use netflix either... I dunno if you use such things lol.
Thanks the info! I'm gonna go download it right now. You've been a great help.

Save em to your computer first. If youj have a bad result, just move them back. I can't acually see what files your talking about, as on the app, you pic, ture just looks like a blob.

I have deleted *. tmp before which I understand came from the Gallery app. As far as the *. dat , I have not, but what austin420 said.
As long as you back up those files to your computer, but don't delete them till you have tried all the programs on your phone, then your good. If you realize there is a problem, reload and reboot
Lol thanks, didn't realize the pic was that bad.

EVO rooted trade in to Sprint

I have an evo that is rooted running Myns latest. I am seriously thinking about trading the phone into sprint to get money towards the Samsung Galaxy on Friday. Do I or should I unroot the phone or just trade it in as is? Thanks
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I think you should unroot it IMO its a real simple procedure you can find right here on this forum. If not that flashback to a sock rom at least.
You should unroot before you take it back to Sprint. There's a high chance that they may turn you down.

I've found the best idea when rooting and flashing a new ROM is to clear your schedule for the day, sit down with a beer, and enjoy the day of frustration trying to get everything exactly how you want it.
