Basically I think that the market is a bit incomplete.
There are changes I'd like to be made and i've voiced my concerns with google.
Now I need the community backing to actually see these things implemented.

I try and address problems with the market and even underlying Android issues that have yet to be resolved.
Add your input and they'll have to listen.
Good idea... You might also add to the list a way to delete apps from download that won't be used anymore. I have three in my download that I will never install again and can't get them off the list. Imagine a few of those in there and it starts to take up alot of space with apps you aren't interested in anymore.
I posted a reply there as it seems to have gotten some attention there. Some of the issues are already in feature request on android issues, I linked to them. Starring the issues increases chances someone will take care of it.
Suggestion added Jeffro.
Thanks for posting Areinu!
If I could make suggestions for Android Market:
(1) Fix all this missing protected apps for new device / firmware quickly
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665742
This is silly issue and will only hurt Android platform. This will greatly discourage Android developers for making good apps.
I want to support Android, I want to make it success! I can do this by spending money on Android apps, but I simply cant because of this issue.
And I am afraid this will repeat once new firmware released.
Take a look how long this issue is ... ridiculous
(2) Remove restrictions on countries for purchasing apps
Right now, certain countries like Sweden for example cannot even see the apps!
(3) Add ability to FILTER apps TITLE
I want to "hide" all those WALLPAPERS, SEXY whatnot.
Android is nice, really nice platform. But this Android Market issues are blocking its success.
here in Denmark we can't even see non-free apps in the ma market. because of this, users of ex. iPhone won't even try the platform. its sad really.

Filtering is very much needed. I tend to view the 'just in' apps, but lately its just a list of MMCANDROIDs latest releases of boarderline under age Asian girls. Its really annoying that you cant block out the stuff you have no interest in.
I'm adding them as they come.
Post a comment on the page to make sure Google eventually sees it.
Looking for a list of stock apps, services, etc. That come pre-installed in samsung galaxy S 4 devices... WITH A DESCRIPTION of what each item does, in order to debloat (by freezing or uninstalling).
Or where I could find such a list. Myself and many others would greatly appreciate any help or info!
Galaxy S4 Active SGH-i537 - at&t
You and your friends could search this...att stock apps and it comes up with multiple posts with exactly that info. Thank you.
Hi everyone,
Just transferred from iPhone 4 to the Galaxy S4 and am experiencing comething of a shock between the two operating systems. I am NOT going to be rooting or changing the factory OS in any way, just using the sotck OS and systems provided by Samsung. My biggest questions are:
1) Disabling/Enabling pre-installed apps (AT&T junk, etc.): If I disable a pre-installed app, find that it affects a function I like (Google I'm looking at you...) and then re-enable it, will that adversely affect my phone in any way? Ie. will I get back the funcionality that I originally had? Can I brick my phone completely accidently by disabling a key application?
2) Com2USPoker: WHERE IS THIS APP? I like to know that every function on my phone works before committing but I cannot for the life of me find this app. It is not in GroupPlay, App screen, anywhere but Application manager and it says that it is enabled. Does the App only show up in GroupPlay when there are multiple samsung devices connected to the GroupPlay app? As a pefectionist, this is really bugging me that I cannot find this app.
Any advice would be appreciated! Please go easy on me as I am new to Android
I suggest you read the "pinned" threads in the General and Q & A sections before you do ANYTHING to your phone. Also, use the Q & A section as an area to bring up or ask about new or previously un-discussed issues and topics only after you have read and searched for existing topics and answers. Searching, reading, and learning will get you what you need around here.
If I were you it'd stick with the iphone. This is a development forum. Not a user forum.
I'm finally receiving my N9005 in the next days, yet I've been using a legacy Nokia N900 with Maemo OS the predecessor of MeeGo OS (Nokia's and Intel's failed mobile/tablet OS).
What would you suggest me to do while I'm new to Android? I want to have as much control as possible over the system and data sent.
Things I'd like to have/do:
- a privacy framework like xprivacy
- uninstall bloatware from stock OS
- getting rid of most Google stuff except its cloud messaging service (for Threema)
- a secure email app/client
- a secure browser
From what I've read yet this seems impossible without rooting the device and risk to toggle Knox to 0x1.
To use the Google cloud messaging service I have to have a Google account and be logged in, no?
Sending fake IMEI, device type, etc. would be done by xprivacy.
Thanks a lot!
Maybe this ?

Thanks for the welcome video!
Let me refine my question with the obvious: I've searched the forum before I posted.
- a privacy framework like xprivacy ...there are SRT AppGuard, App Ops, LBE, PDroid (Open Source version development stopped), +Droidwall as addition, etc. - the best ones need root!
- uninstall bloatware from stock OS ...there is
[USER-CHOICE][AROMA][BLOATWARE REMOVER TOOL][DESIGN YOUR ROM][SM-N900] - needs root!
- getting rid of most Google stuff except its cloud messaging service (for Threema) ...I could strip a ROM from Google apps or go FOSS and just install the needed GApps - do I have those skills yet? No, see OT - that's why I'm asking for easier ways possible.
- a secure email app/client ...the most favoured ones like K-9 (with AGP), Aqua Mail, etc.
- a secure browser ...there are lots of flavors around, most prominent are Dolphin, Chrome, Opera, Firefox or Orweb+Orbot for Tor
What I'm asking for is experience I don't have with the Android system yet.
Where else to look this up? If splitting up every point and open a new topic/reply in its corresponding thread is the way to go, tell me pls.
The first three points I've asked are all related to rooting and custom ROMs. The latest entries in the respective threads are showing mixed results, especially with latest KitKat release.
Regarding the last two points about email clients and browsers it's again about experience of advanced users with those apps I like to partake in.
Answering the original implicit question/statement "From what I've read yet this seems impossible without rooting the device and risk to toggle Knox to 0x1" would surely take the same time as posting the video link.
Thanks
The thread title stated my newbieness, instead of posting a video with the forum rules it would be more helpful to get into the questions and contribute to the thread for other users looking up such topics (I did). I'm here to learn, learning by doing and getting a Knox 0x1 ain't productive
Q&A for [ROM][Mako][Lollipop][UNOFFICIAL] OmniROM 5.1 Nexus 4
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ROM][Mako][Lollipop][UNOFFICIAL] OmniROM 5.1 Nexus 4. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Google Now in China

I see in your nicknane that you are located in Shanghai. Google Now is not available in China. You need to trick the gps and the playstore into thinking you are in a supported location to enable Google Now launcher. I am in China myself, that's how i do to force enable Google Now.
If you need help regarding this, just tell me, i can't provide any link (market unlocker), but i can guide you through the procedure if you need.

Ok, I have both, good and bad news. The good news is you can activate Google Now, the bad news are, it doesn't work without a vpn, it will only display schedule reminder's, custom reminders, weather cards, location reporting being unavailable in China, most cards aren't accessible. You should definitely NOT BUY a Google Now based smart watch if you live in China, it will be more or less useless ... Yes, looks appealing, but I renounced, until some chinese services actually clone Google Now WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORTED, one can't use a smartwatch in China, not like we would do in any other country anyway.
IMPORTANT: You must root to be able to force Google Now activation.
you need this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lexa.fakegps&hl=en
you also need market unlocker, but I can't provide a link, a search on Google will solve this.
You also need a vpn link to a country that fully support Google Now.
First thing to do, switch the location mode to device mode only, since we're gonna fake our location, we only want GPS to report that location.
Then you need to switch to airplane mode, this in order to disable the country check from the phone operator sim card.
Activate your wifi, launch your vpn connection.
Launch the fake gps location, and set it to a supported country location (would be wise to chose the same location than the play store and the vpn connection)
Launch market unlocker to set Google play store on a supported country (this step wasn't needed before last Google service update).
Launch Google play store, to actually validate the new location.
Then go to Settings->Accounts->Google->Search->Account and Privacy
from there, click on Google account to actually logg off from it.
Clear data from google search, google play store, and google play services.
In theory, you're done, if the location if fully faked, logging in again into Search will set you to the supported location you chose, and let you enable Google Now. From there you actually can disable the gps fake location app and market unlocker, although those are very useful.
No idea how long this is going to work, the need to fake market location is actually recent, wasn't needed before.
On daily usage, i get the Google Now schedule cards, weather cards, some cards related to my personal search, and any card that isn't location based (sports competition results etc ...).

kldoc you have provided detailed instructions which I will definitely try to follow - at least to honor the time you spent to reply me.
I will come back with any news - hopefully soon. :good:
PS. I could not quote your message in my reply as am new here and I cannot include links in my messages for now.
Notifications and Quick Setings problems
Hi there, and first of all many thanks for all the work you're putting into making Lollipop/Omnirom available on the Nexus 4.
I've had a slight issue with the ROM, and I'm not sure what information is relevant so I'll post what I know and you can let me know if there's anything else you need.
The problem is that I don't get any notifications in the notifications bar and I can't access the quick settings bar. Any ideas what might be causing this?
I installed the latest (18/04/15) version over the top of an Omnirom 4.4 installation. I haven't wiped data, because it didn't seem necessary according to your post. I can do a full wipe as a next step if necessary, but I'd obviously prefer not to!
I'm running Google Apps Minimal Edition (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-google-apps-minimal-edition-t2943330/), which basically has just the play store and libraries. One of the reasons I use Omni is that I don't use google services (aside from to buy apps from the play store) and don't like to have all the extra stuff hanging around on my phone. I'd be willing to try a different minimal package if it is possible that this is the problem, but I'm not really very keen to install a full gapps package such as Banks.
Many thanks once more,
Dave

I ended up wiping /system, reflashing Omni and flashing a new build of the PA GAPPS. I guess you could flag the package I was using before as not working in your OP to avoid more questions about things that aren't due to your ROM!
Random reboots
I am experiencing random reboots up to various times a day and I don't have anything strange installed.
Excellent!!
I've been running this 5.1.1 build on my N4 since Saturday - because the stock 5.1 update DESTROYED my battery life. So far, this build has been rock solid stable, my battery life has returned to where it was under 5.0.2 (which was great), and I have found zero issues. Thanks for the EXCELLENT build!!
Hello folks, I want to apologize for not following this thread as I should have, thing is actually didn't have any notification about activity here, that's the reason why.
For those still on builds that were done before 5.1.1, I highly recommend you flash latest 5.1.1 build, I experienced the same issues with battery on builds prior 5.1.1, and so far, 5.1.1 seems to runs really well on Nexus 4. 02/05/2015 should be the build to flash.
I'm actually running mini gapps package from Slim, on which I add a google now launcher flashable zip (restrictions due to the country where I live makes it too complicated for me to install Google now from the store). I prefer having most apps updated from Google play store than through a flashable zip.
@julope334 I don't have those random reboots on latest build, but if you still get those reboots on latest build, please provide a logcat so I can see what is going on.
