Sense is within our reach!!! It has already been ported to Galaxy S i9000 and Samsung Captivate..Us Vibrant owners need ALL the help we can get!! Hell who doesn't want sense on their Vibrant?!?!
I Have been talking to the dev over on that board about porting to the Vibrant, here is what he said:

No. I think they're using the new radio partitioning in .6, so it needs a new kernel.
Sense is really nice. I didn't even know it was ported to the captivate, sure do hope any of the Great devs can work on this.

one question
i have a question. do you want a port of just all the apps to look like a sense. i mean you can make a 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 all look a sense with all the new sense apps and such but it depends on what you want. if you want the sense gingerbread than thats alot more work. there are alot of options, but you gotta realize that the new sense works off of hardware not found in most phones. sooooo you gotta take that into consideration. but i will look at the 19000 port and see what they changed. im finally gonna start making roms, kinda gettin tired of making my own and not posting them. give me a couple of days and you will have it. but i dont know if i want it 2.3 since theres no gps i dont want it. if you have suggestions i will think about it, and maybe port it. but i wont develop if theres no requests.

edit: alot of people dont realize but when a port is brought over its not all the system files that they transfer, all samsung vibrant files are used, so thats why i made a post like this. devs dont create everything themselves and make things work, they keep old files and add stuff to make it like another phone. hence the reason why all roms have a certain base. blah blah blah, sorry been drinking and tired of randomness of roms. pm me if you want this ported the way i do it, which means, framework-apps-some system files into one rom.

I wish it was easier to make a ROM. I've tried looking around to figure it out, but its tough. There are some really nice ROMs out there, but nothing that is exactly like what I want (and I'm sure others feel the same). The resources are out there, but it takes a lot of digging and it's not all that easy to understand.
its not really all that hard to grab a rom unpack it add what you want to /data/app/ than repack and resign.
Look around for signing tools, if your on windows you can use this.
Did i read it wrong ? I thought he wanted those apps removed...
But I definitley want to start learning how to start cooking roms ...... but i know nothing aboutdoing it ....so i am reading and reading and reading........
I tried porting a Rom but it wouldn't boot. its a lot harder than I thought as well.

Not sure if anyone has had the chance to take a look at this, but they've finished converting the PNGs from MIUI to MDPI. I know there's been a lot of hype over this ROM and I'm sure it would be a big hit with Eris users if someone decided to take a crack at it!

From what I see, there isn't any source for it yet. Without that, porting is nearly impossible. It was designed for ARM7 cpu... so we'd need the source.

Oh, disregard what I said about it then. On a phone as limited as the Eris the only way to make it truly fast is to do it from source.
Has anybody asked the devs to release the source? That is, if anybody wants to pick it up.

While I am all for open source and sharing this is more of an android overlay just like Sense and motoblur which we don't have the source for either.

Sense been done before numerous times and is nothing new.
I would love to see Sony X10 Rachel ui be ported or Acer Breeze ui port,both of these look and feel way better than Sense.
Sense isn't very useful, what with Launcher Pro and ADW.EX bringing most useful features already from Sense.
I'd rather see devs work more on AOSP roms like MIUI and Cyanogen6/7.
Well, So far I've gotten 2 more people to volunteer, and hopefully, tommorrow, we will be able to discuss the plans for porting sense.
For those who don't want sense, no problem, you will at least have another ROM for the epic to try.

Dont forget Go Launcher I find it faster and better than Adw and Pro,not to many people know about it,and it has built in task killer.

We always welcome another rom but why not port something thats never been done before like X10 Rachel or Acer Breeze?
They both look better,have better effects,faster and have more functionality.That would be something that would make our Epic's unique and make them stand out,isnt there enough htc related things already?

Great Job putting together a team to do HTC Sense.
I give you much props in organizing a team to produce HTC Sense. Go luck with porting it to the Samsung Epic. This Rom will definately be a Rom I will be flashing and I will make a $25.00 donate on top of that. If you can get the New Sense ported and get TOMTOM to work I will donate twice at much. HTC sense works better with Microsoft Outlook so I am all game!!!!
P.S. All you haters out there you need to move yourselves to the general thread because this man is talking about development of something great.

This is the reason I choose the epic over the EVO. I figured one day some developer is going to port Sense over to the Epic it was just a matter of time.

Sorry, I lied, I'm tired When I said Widgets I meant new Notifications that are Widgetier then the last AKA the Espresso Lockscreen and not the Sensation IdleScreen/Lockscreen. My Bad, I'm very tired and can't fall asleep.

Could be a big deal. Myn has said he's going to put out an app that automatically exploits some sort of temporary root hack when you reboot the phone. I imagine this would allow for root apps to work, but I don't think it'll allow for ROM flashing.

If I read whats in the thread that the OP posted they say it works with all current hboots. So with them saying that it should work for the locked down Evo4g. I hope to heck it does, no root sux. Sounds like hopefully we won't have to wait much longer tho.
Heres my question that hopefully someone with more dev skills can answer... Supposedly sometime September-ish HTC is going to release an unlocked bootloader for the Evo 3d. Could someone utilize that to discover a flaw in the non-unlocked bootloaders and develop a root method for the Evo's in case this new tool doesnt cut the cake?

theres already a thread with the progrss to date on this, its a strong possibility we might see the root soon, just hold on to your panties and let this guys finish their work, already an exploit has been found with a temp root, although its not easily reproduced, but its a hole

I for one am praying to the Evo Dev's and Gods out there that a Root is coming soon. I'm sick of my Evo and the bloatware.. almost wish I wouldnt have used my upgrade from LG Optimus S to Evo 4g.. Didnt really care for the Evo3d as it hurt my eyes after a bit, and even though the screen size says they are the same 4.3" I still think the Evo 4g has a better screen..

personally, im anxious to try that alliance rom with updated sense and the evo 3d os , looks pretty sweet

no, but if you search on youtube for the reviews , the links will probably be there, or use search tool here on forums , i know its around here somewhere

You can get Alliance Rom and MikG(also Sense 2.1) from themikmik.com
You will have to register to download but it is free to do.
