The problem with the 2.1 ROMs we have now is, even though they are spectacular, they're not 100 percent. There are some things that are broke.

Some people just don't get that even thought most of us are running a 2.1 rom - there are still issues.
My wife still has Audio issues with hers.
Not to mention we don't have legit .29 Kernel source...I have a feeling Toast may have something or just a really bastardized .27 kernel source.

Everyweek we got new news about update. And the update date is always on Friday.

I have a hard time believing they would update on a friday. Seems like it would make for a hell of a weekend for support staff...

Froyo November 11, 2011?! WTF

Ok, so read this and tell me what you think. It has to be some kind of conversion from another language cause parts of it dont make sense at all in the english language. Also, look at the picture, and tell me what is wrong in it (or right?). Either way, some of this pisses me off.

Yeah. Why I said pay close attention to the picture. With that much of a horrible written or translated news report, I would hope they wouldn't get the picture date wrong also.

I think it'd be even less likely for Samsung to put out such a date over a year in advance, despite everything they've been saying about a prompt release.
Whether or not it will be the 11th (I hope so), it will not be 11-11-11. I mean come on, three 11s. Obviously a mistake.

Even the rollout DID begin on the 11th, we wont see it on the Epic for a while after that most likely.
I hope I am wrong.

Especially since GalaxySSupport Twitter has already stated Froyo will be on all Galaxy devices by the end of the year.

Can we make a new rule that anyone that starts a Froyo speculation thread gets banned? Kthxbai.

Galaxy twitter has been complete wrong several times, specifically they have promised dates that were in fact early.

I agree to permit questions regarding 2.2 but I think that we should all take a chill pill and let it be.
By past experience we will get he upgrade and then wish we never had it because of the bugs it will have at the start, so let's just save our time with the speculations.

There's 20+ post about froyo. They all end up being the same conversation. Other peoples threads get disrupted cause of people asking about froyo. The conversation is all the same.

This just my 2 cents. I believe that the Verizon update leaked about on the 1/10 is to allow the phone to be updated by Kies. Granted, this week is CES, and Verizon is lauching new LTE phones, but I also see this as an opportunity for Samsung to announce updates to their Galaxy S lines in the US. Considering how many of these phones have sold, if there isn't an announcement at CES, there may never be one, lol. But I believe they will say something, because they want to build up the Galaxy S brands, and you really can't do that by screwing consumers out of an update for a Free Mobile OS.

It is really most likely a bug fix, hence why it's called MR2 (Maintainence Release). Most likely it's DL09. NOT froyo.

It may actually be our beloved froyo that we've been waiting for.
But honestly, I'm waiting for jt and co's gingerbread...

Who cares .... for those who don't frequent IRC, here's today's status: "You'll notice there is not AOSP status here, thats because we got the .35 kernel booting and have moved to gingerbread...have a nice day"

i would be on IRC just watching whats going on if nothing else... but i couldnt tell you how to access it lol

Ha, nice. My birthday is the 9th. I would probably guess that it is just the maintenance update, but I guess with CES this week, you never know.
It is good to know that jt is close to getting gingerbread running though, that will be pretty sweet.

Hehe my birthday is the 9th as well, will finally be 21. But yes it will be quite nice to see GB running, and before samsung could release it too. That is pretty sad.

the skeptic in me will remain skeptical until i see something from sprint, but thank you for the info i have some hope since t-mo has their update available, maybe sprint will be more motivated to end the bad press and user backlash... time will tell.

You are right! We should have made a stink back is November! Maybe the best thing to do from now on is to always raise a super-stink the minute a company misses their "promised" date. Then things get delivered!

I agree. It seems like things are finally coming around, but something still stinks behind the scenes. At the very least my guesstimate is that the updates were a very very low priority for either Samsung, the carriers, or both.

So when do we start the *****ing about not having Gingerbread? Wednesday morning?

There its now a new rumor saying that Samsung is going to give out Gingerbread at the beginning of Second Quarter.

I don't really care much about a timeline for Gingerbread atm. I just want to be able to test my own Adobe AIR apps on my own phone. Once I can do that, I'll be happy.

I doubt.it will be this Tuesday cause every article I read says they have no clue when update will be given just that it will be soon. This sounds like the 12/26 thing again where all these people had the inside informants and it was def. Happening. Look where that went

That's why I installed dk28. Air works great, just a teeny bit of lag when you start an app.

Just for the record,I never said Tuesday,and 12/26 was deffinitly the planned release date at one point. So I wouldnt doubt sources,things dont always work out... And just because the update is not in the playbook does not mean we wont see one next week OTA... But I will say this for sure, source "Talks around the water cooler say everyone should be updated by 1/31/2011",so that tells me that roll out should start on or before 1/26/2011,so Tuesday or Wednesday... Again Im not gonna call that the date this time,because I already see the flame throwers coming out of the wood work.
Oh,and I can promise you Gingerbread is being worked on also...

Don't count on Sprint releasing it until late June. When the articles talk about Galaxy S phones they are mostly talking I9000 in Europe. Samsung releases the code to US carriers, they screw it up, Samsung tries to fix it, they screw it up some more, they release it, pull it back. Release it.

It sounds like even if it won't be untill late June they are trying to be more on the ball after making us wait so long for Froyo. I remember getting my Epic a month after it came out and the guy at the store reassured me that Froyo would be out by the end of Sept lol. Not that I don't take everything they say with a large grain of salt.
After trying out EE03 I'm very excited for GB to drop on the Epic
