Try "Moboplayer" it is free on the Marketplace. When it is playing, in the bottom Left hand section of the screen there are options to make the display screen smaller - make it bigger i.e. full screen - show as 16:9 - and 4:3. You might have best results by changing the size of your video file by using different encoding methods/programs in your desktop. i.e. "AVS4You" or "Handbrake". In both of those programs you can set the pixel height and width of the final encoded video.

Thanks for the correction OrionBG, I misunderstood his original question.
I Have an Answer Sort Of
I downloaded a lot of players and never set a default so i could test, this is the screen that pops up when i select an .mp4:

When I select the 'Movies' player, the bar on the bottom goes dark like so, look beneath the red marks i made, there are 4 barely visible dots. I believe this is called Dark Mode, the bar is still there just barely visible.
The problem is there is no menu in the player and no program on my tab called 'Movies'. It's either stock, or came with a file manager.

well if you tilt the cam 90degrees and click the picture will be in landscape
and the screen res of xda2 is
176 x 220
I found how to get landscape, in the instruction book of all places  . You press the "contacts" hardware button at the top left of the unit then turn it side ways. If you just turn it side ways it will still save the file in portrait mode.
And I didn't ask the screen res of the XDA. I asked the res required for Today wallpaer, and contact photos. And besides, the screen res is 240 x 320. Where'd you get 176 x 220 from?

i did a search
what makes you think that the today screen would not use the same res that the screen use ? it's like that on a pc
and if a smaller picture or larger picture is used it get resized to fit the screen
i'm sure a theme editor would be helpfull in both making today themes and get info about sizes

You try transferring a 240x320 image to your XDA then "set as Today Wallpaper". Because of the top and bottom bars, the actual space for the wallpaper is more like a square shape, so your image is scaled down to fit this gap, and you get white borders on the left and right.
And yes, I do need a theme editor. I'm on the case
I decided to update wired69's vga touchflo skin for wvga devices. It's a skin for Conduits Pocket Player
Simply tap the center of the screen to switch between the various views:

I believe the uploader modifies picture sizes automatically. The picture from the site downloads as 365x608 pixels but it should be 480x800. The best method is to upload to a picture image site and the link directly to the picture's url
Would this be fine?

I fixed the problem for win 6.5.x it's very simple you just have to make the background some pixel longer no need to edit script.txt
Oh and you can switch from playlist to album art just by taping in the top right corner of the player(where the small album art is). I have turned off small visualization and all visualisations and put a button there instead in my personal version of this skin.(Not the one I uploaded) Anyway great work it's years that I use pocket player with very ugly skins.
^^Thanks. Works fine here, except it defaults to the default skin when in landscape. Np that, though. Thanks again!

pocket player uses a different skin for landscape so you have to select the one you prefer by accessing options in landscape mode. The landscape version of this skin is not working for me anyway.
I can't believe it's taken me THIS long to find this thread! Awesome! Thank you so much!
A question, though: is there any way to make a shortcut to the Lyrics anywhere? From the main screen?
I've tried contacting Conduits for help with this, but no response
This is the best skin ever!!! I agree with above...perhaps the EQ button could become lyrics? It's rare to want to switch EQ on and off...

hi guys,
i'm using a 800x480 picture for my wallpaper but when i select it to be my wallpaper, i'm given a orange box to select the area I want. But isn't the resolution correct?
Yes, but you have to disable the "wallpaper scrolling" feature to have a static wallpaper. Not sure where you find this in the touchwiz settings as I'm using launcher pro, but should be an option somewhere.
No, the correct resolution for wallpapers is 960x800 pixels.

The wallpaper should be 960x800 to be the correct size (to allow for the scrolling to new screens).
When you apply the wallpaper, you need to hold your finger on the edge of the box and drag so it enlarges.

curious why you say it has to be that large to allow scrolling
mine's 640 X 480 and it's still 3 times larger than the orange box (before i resize it up) and fills all 7 home screens and scrolls across em fine
resolution is actually great -
i'm trying to learn something so the question w background is for real, not trying to contest
the first picture is what i uploaded to the phone, the white box in the 2nd picture is what displays as the wall paper

Paint.net is a pretty good free picture editing software. Could also check out Gimp.
hi all, how do i disable the scrolling? i can't seem to get 800x480 nicely on my screen.
I am using ADW Launcher EX on my Desire, however, I wondered if there was a way to place icons on the Homescreen(s), but not have them align to the grid?
I would like to put 3 icons on one line of my homescreen, with equal spacing at either side.
I hope this makes sense? Is there anyway to do this?
Very roughly, I want to go from this:

good morning,
I think you can do this job on two ways.
First you can variegate your desktop columns. For example to 5.
Second way is to install the "simi folder widget". With this app you can adjust the size of your icon. This app can be so useful and looks very nice.
I hope I could help you.

I use adw with 10 columns and rows,
[1] unlock desktop,[ 2]longpress homescreen select widgets.[ 3] select DV (1x1)small [4]configure 1c+1r [5]dv on homepage short press to options.[ 6]select icon now image if you want to change the application looks or just select application icon.scroll to app and select.[7] now select action, press launch app.select the app, if you dont want a label select clear.press ok and you now have the icon on homepage in the look you want but very small [8]longpress on icon and press option edit. [9] You now have 4 arrows and you can drag and enlarge to wherever you want. Hope this helps.
PS play around with the dv size options a well.
I know how you feel, Ive been wanting the ability to go "of the grid" ever since i started using android. (My last win mobile rom allowed me the ability to but any icon anywhere on the screen, including half on one screen half on another, stacking icons and so on.)
However I think for your situation the easiest solution would be to just change to 9 or 7 columns as follows
_#_#_#_#_
__#_#_#__
or
#_#_#_#
_#_#_#_
You can keep your equal spacing and have your icons staggered

}
(height box as high as the whole box), instead of what we get now.
Hi,
In 4.2, as I understand, I cant set a wallpaper without having it being cropped first - the tool selects different part of the image for landscape and portrait. I understand this, and now that it requires quite a big picture - (2560 for vertical part (in portrait mode) and even more for landscape, because the selected region will be used on, lets say ~3500 pixels (2560+scrolling). so the minimum picture to have and use to get 1to1 pixel is ~3500x2560). And thats fine, there are plenty of pictures like this.
However, when I select a picture to download, o select it as a whole, and not only the middle. So I'd like to put it the whole, as I see it.
It was allowed in older androids.
There is no problem of getting an image of 5020x2560 and higher, so I could use this, but the problem is that 4.2 doesnt allow it at the moment.
If I wanted to do this now, I would have to take the picture, add a big border around it, so the picture itself would be in the middle, and then after cropping, I would get the picture I wanted in the first place.
Hopefully you understood me, and can give advice on how to do this in 4.2.
Thank you
P.S. Just to clarify even more - If, lets say I have image 4000x3000, and I want to display all of it, not just middle, then just let me put it as a wallpaper, and when the tablet is in protrait, there will be more than 2560 pixels to take anyway, so no need of cropping.
Why is it doing cropping anyway?
No scrolling, but this may help:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ridgelineapps.simpleimagewallpaper&hl=en
I search for 1600x2560 wallpapers, and then set the image to the app linked above. The upside of no scrolling is that moving between homescreens is really smooth (it was already smooth, but no stutters at all).
As far as your question goes, I remember using some ROMs that allowed me to re-size the inner boxes (the one that has vertical and horizontal rectangles on top of one another) inside the picture cropping box, is that feature present in 4.2? If so, enlarge the size of the box, and then you'll be able to see the whole picture, not just the middle, when scrolling around.

I just tried this app, but I got much better results by downloading a 2400x1600 wallpaper and stretching the crop box to fill it (it fits exactly).
I'm in the middle of writing a wallpaper app for the N10, depending on what access is available to the wallpaper setting APIs I'll have it automatically set pixel perfect if possible.

Oh god, thank you for this app rec. I despise the scrolling wallpaper stuff spread out over multiple screens. It seems to do exactly what I want. Have you noticed that it affects battery life differently since it is implemented as live wallpaper?
