I've tried a few of the 7392 ROM's on my HD2 and they all (at least the one's I've used) have problems with barcode scanning apps (the one's I've tested). I've tried the DFT, HD2O, and XBmod ROM's and they each behave the same way with the apps I tested. The apps were ShopSavvy, Walgreens, and Key Ring.
This problem did not happen in the 7004 builds (Pre-Nodo). At least one other member has the same problem that I'm seeing but I can't find any posts relating to this issue.
I made a video showing the behavior in 7004 and then in 7392 but I can't post the link here because I don't have enough postings yet. To see the video just search for 3TYXirDre3o on Youtube. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas as to what may have changed from 7004 to 7392 that would cause this?
UPDATE:
I can add the YouTube link now: http://youtu.be/3TYXirDre3o

In your Pre-Nodo EU HD2, did it fail because the pictures were blurry or did you get the errors that I showed in the video? In my Pre-Nodo build, it failed to work due to the pictures being too blurry but after enabling the on-screen shutter button via the registry, I was able to take focused pictures that the barcode apps could process. With the Nodo builds, the image never makes it back to the app to be processed.

Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Camera\Settings\, create a key named SoftShutterButton and give it a value of 1. The phone does not need to be restarted.
jaxjaguar you just made my day with your registry tweak. THAAANKSSSS. By the way my camera works great now
Glad I could help. Hopefully someone has a fix for the problem I'm having with the Nodo builds.
I have the same issue with MobileTag - it doesn't work after NoDo update Camera starts, but then it shuts down and returns to AppList
Question
How to set a default 720p resolution in camera?
Just noticed that the issue occurs in Twitter app as well.

I'm also having this problem. Does anyone have a fix?

After flashing EB01 and opening the camera, it informed me I had an incorrect firmware version. The message had a button that took me to a screen to update the firmware.
Nothings changed.
Funny thing is, I was looking at launcher pro's shortcut crap, and noticed I could make a shortcut right to a feature of an app on the device, and I saw something to do with cropping under the camera stuff (which is why I went and opened it, I thought it was a new feature added by EB01.)
So would the knowledgeable people please tell us what the firmware changed, and if the camera does in fact have the ability to crop images?
Firmware has changed. I had to update mine too.
DL30 had a firmware change which made a few adjustments (you can see most, I believe, on the DL30 notes). I've not heard anything about DL30 -> EB01 requiring a firmware update for the camera... were you on DL30, or an Eclair rom?

I was on Elcair Rom before going to EB01 and received the same message, but no way to update it. Anyone know how we are to update the firmware?
There should be a prompt to update the firmware when you launch the Camera app. Choose the only option with "Write" in the title. You'll need to reboot after install.
Thanks so much, I wasn't sure which update to choose!
When I went from DL30 to EB01, I got the message a second time that my camera firmware needed to be updated. Just click yes, and on the next screen you choose to flash from phone to camera (it's the last of three options, don't remember exactly what it said).
I imagine EB01 has the same camera firmware update as DL30 did. Not sure why it had to be flashed a second time going from DL30 --> EB01.
On a side note, I love the camera in 2.2. Extremely fast. Takes next to no time at all to snap a pic now.
The firmware update enables geotagging and also shows a thumbnail preview of the last image taken on the camera screen

ALSO we can PAUSE our video recording! You hit pause, then it stops recording, then hit the button again and it starts recording again where you left off, all as a single file!
That's gonna come in handy. I can't tell you how many times I've combined videos in windows movie maker when the pause button would have done the trick to begin with
but sadly, you can't turn the screen off when paused, so if you're planning on keeping a whole wedding or something limited to one file, prepare to drain the battery quick

You could do this on Eclair. I'm on DJ05 and can do it (literally just tested to be sure). The sound takes a brief moment (250ms? hard to guess by ear) to come back in, but the video shifts instantly upon unpausing.
Changes on the camera are GREAT!!
I am loving the 2.2 leak on my phone. phone is stable and runs better.
Hello,
in the Thread of the Apocalypse rom I read
- Camera.apk bug(Solved)

Is it true? Has anybody tested it yet, is it possible to take pictures with the "use wireless networks" option on?
Is it possible to port this change to another ROM, maybe by just copying the camera.apk from the Apocalypse ROM?
The point is, I a running on the stock ROM and I don't want to switch to Apocalypse (since there are some changes that I don't like). But having the camera bug fixed would be perfect!
currently I am using camera360, but it take too long to start and also doesn't write location information into the pictures...
I am using the BVJP9 (Orange) firmware, but as far as I know ALL stock Froyo roms so far have this issue:
When the GPS is turned off and the Wireless network Setting is on, the Camera tries to get your location through the wireless networks as soon as you take a picture, but failes. The Phone vibrates one time, and another two times and you get a "camera error" message without the picture being taken.
It doesn't happen at every time, but far to often to honestly use the stock camera.
With the stock camera it only works reliable when either both, gps and wireless network setting in the location and security settigns are turned off, or if the gps is on and has a fix.
Yeah, thats my problem so far. And when I look into various threads I am not alone with it. The only solution besides deactivation the wireless networks option seems to use another camera app.
Yup the camera bug is fixed..i tested it...check out the Apocalypse rom topic someone posted the bug free cam.apk yu can use....
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Alright, found it! Well, or at least I found a file called camera.apk in the thread - lets see if it's the fixed one
If im right not yet. But guys from Apocalypse may look if its possible.
Someone posted something about resolution change but no one yet posted if change something in files do anything.

Did this fix it for you? I had no luck with the camera.apk posted in the Apocalypse topic... Also the SGSTools hacked camera.apk didn't work.
Edit: OK, sgstools has 2 camera fixes, the second one works

Which version of SGSTools do u use?
Im using V 4.1.9 there ist just one hacked Camera.apk.
I didn't have a FC with this one.
Version 4.7.3 of the captivate sgs tools, found on the market.
Recently I found the camera fails to focus in various occasions. The image in the viewfinder stays blurry no matter how I configure the camera app (stock/3rd party). But it can capture clear close-up shots so I assume the camera is somehow fixed at macro shots. To fix this issue, I have to open something like Barcode Scanner (which will continue adjust the focus) and leave it for a couple of minutes. Then the camera will be working again for a few hours or so or until I reboot the phone.
Does anyone encounter the same issue? I would like to know whether it is hardware or software problem.
PS: I am pretty sure this is nothing related to any sort of settings/configurations.
It happen here, too...

As I said I am sure it's nothing related to configuration. It's more likely to be related to software (if not hardware, which is still possible).

I have this problem with third part apps too.
I have no problem about this.
No matter I use stock camera, vignette or camera360, it focuses normally.
What camera app are you using?
Sent from my Milestone 2 using XDA app
i have no problem at all. whether i use the stock camera app, or cameraFX, my camera has no issues focusing at all.
since nobody else is actually experiencing the problem, it might be something related to a fine setting, or an application thats interfering with your camera app. why not u try a hard reset and see if solves the problem?

Thanks for your reply. Goggle often freeze and cannot focus normally.
The picture will be blur when I put the camera about 30cm away from the targets using goggle app.
Do you have the same problem? I don't know whether it's a software problem or firmware problem.

I saw many ppl meet this problem on Chinese forum even using the internal-camera app.
I think it's firmware's problem.

its quite odd that different firmwares seem to pose different problems: ie from what i noticed those running GB and EuroRetail versions seem to have a problem with the responsiveness of their hardware keyboard. AsiaRetail has a bug issue with the contacts search, and now the ME722 with a camera focus issue. what i have seen with my camera is after a reboot, when i capture a picture, the picture ends up being captured, but the capture animation freezes until i hit one of the soft keys. not really a bother but its still an issue
really, it all boils down to the same argument, that Motorola and MotoDevs really need to address these issues in fixes and updates, cuz really though some bugs arent that annoying, certain ones like a malfunctioning keyboard and a non-focusing camera can be a real pain in the a**.
@ the person tho started this thread: why not you try to flash Argen2Stone ROM? perhaps that might solve your problem?

Sadly, I am currently using Argen2Stone 1.8, but still experiencing the problem.
I tried to flash back to UK2.2, which the phone came with, but still no luck.
The "barcode scanner" trick temporarily solves my problem. Yet who wants to run it for a few minutes before taking photos?
I swear I won't purchase any Moto smartphone in the future. They simply ignore customers outside the US.
Hi all!
I'm new to the Wp7 world and i'm very liking it
On my device I've got android before (hd2), and now Wp7, my question is about Youtube videos:
in pre-noDo update (I tested it like 4 months ago) I was able to watch youtube videos in browser, simply using the Microsoft youtube app, and setting my region in USA;
Now with NoDo, even using the USA location and region, and installed youtube app...Youtube videos embeded asks for flash (pre-Nodo will show a play button that calls the youtube app)
How can I fix this?
I searched already, all fixes refers to pre-NoDo OS and the only fix found is to set my region to USA (wich I already did)...
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

Go Back and install the old rom that was working. Then go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013035
Let us know if this way works or not? As may be missing in the new updated nodo roms??

mmh from what I read, on HD2, we cannot directly update to NoDo from 7008, but we had to have a coocked rom (if it was possible I think we had not w8 so many time xD)

I use the standard HTC you tube, but there is a lot more in the Market place? Maybe one for you?
I use lazytube and its awesome!
It is almost identical to the new youtube client in android!
The only problem for me is to watch them in the browser, as it very annoing to have to search on the app a video, so I have to exit browser and all...
up!
hoping for solutios D:
I think it's because youtube has updated it's imbedded youtube player thingy. If you find and OLD youtube video at lets say pocketnow, it will still play.
Try this url on your phone:
http://m.pocketnow.com/android/verizon-htc-thunderbolt-hands-on-video
Alright it worked...
So it's YouTubes fault... Hoping they upgrade youtube plugin fast... Or release ie9 before mango lol xD
I have searched a lot but unable to get a perfect answer. Does anyone knows about this? If you dont know that is working or atleast know about what is not working that would be of great help.
Thanks in advance...
I have been using it daily for about 3 weeks now, and I honestly cant find anything that isnt working besides the camera and multitouch (which doesnt work on any ROM).
Maybe someone else can chime in here, but bottom line the rom is awesome!!

You said that camera and multitouch not working. Is is that camera is not working at all? Please clarify. As far as multitouch I am aware of it.
Everything is working for me and to be honest I am enjoying it more tan I ever thought I would. Not sure what are the problems experienced with camera, mine is working fine. Pictures are not as good as the one taken through Android that I have running off SD, but videos sure are great.
Having problems with XAP... anything because installer doesn't work for me. Both versions supposed to do the same job, in fact. Both claim the phone is either not connected or is locked.
Multitouch works fine for me - pictures are zoomed by pinching etc.
The Camera Issue was common on the HD7 that flash caused a green hue to pictures taken... As for MultiTouch its hit or miss.
For XAP problems in Mango (7720) you need to dev_unlock it using one of the files in Yuki-XBOXMOD CAB Directory that has a long list of cabs for Mango..

Used all the necessary cabs, tools etc - still no go
The camera does have a green hue - tried it last night at the party. Everyone looked like zombies that were dead for some time, haha. Will switch to Android on SD for photos.
- Camera takes greenish shots when using Flash.
- Using the camera button (call button), the camera doesn't focus and just takes the snap leading to blurry snaps. I dunno if this is a WP7 issue or not.
- Video Camera seems to have Continous Focus so in dark scenes it focuses and unfocuses every 10 seconds. Disabling auto focuses removes auto focus completely so thats not an option either.
This is for what I've seen. Its still 99% functional despite all this.
