I'm trying to lock certain pictures and videos and I can't find a way to do it. I want to password protect some things so no one sees them but me. If I can't do this how can I put the pixs & videos in a folder and lock the folder? The problem I saw with this was that if you were using the camera you could just scroll the previous pix and you will see the hidden ones as well.
There's an app called app protector pro or something on the market its pretty good

Is there an app that can lock other Apps or basically anything that I want to lock?
For example, I want to lock my media (videos and pictures). I don't want my girl in that part of my phone.
Let me know

uhh ohhhh, someone got some pr0ns haha,
but im not sure of anyway to lock media, the only way i can think is to just set a password (Dots, Numbers, or Words) for the entire phone.
Definitely not pornos! Unless you consider recordings of other females I've messed with pornos. That's why I said I want to keep it away from my girl.

You're an ass lol
How about not storing that stuff on you phone?
now for some seriousness

I recommend Photovault. It's free, but what it does is that it changes your extension of the photos you wish hide. It also has 2 modes, Public and Private. You place a password on the Private gallery and you can even have a setting where the app starts in the Public gallery. It's not a eye-appealing app, but it gets the job done.

yeah, basically any folder with a dot in front off it wont be found by the android media/photo scanner
ESstrongs file explorer has an addon type thing called es security manager that allows you to set a password on any application

Just noticed the gallery is no longer showing the thumbnail previews from previous day's pix. Anyone ever have this happen?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
If you go into the camera app, does the preview show up there? if so, reboot your Fascinate, and it will force the media scanner to rescan which will populate the pictures.
mine does this iv noticed if i go to gallery and try to go to one of my folders right away without letting it fully load it wont show some or all of my pics iv taken
Don't know if this should make a difference, but the pics that don't show thumbnails are the ones that were on the sd card from my previous fascinate. Vzw replaced it for an unrelated issue &I just swapped the cards before sending the other phone back.

You didn't by chance remove or freeze the media scanner while cleaning bloatware did you?
Nope media scanner msg comes on @ boot. The only other thing that occurred to me was the PowerAmp music player. I d/l the trial version and it has a setting to exclude some of your media/music folders from sys.scanning. I looked at the settings menu but don't think I changed any settings though.

I've noticed that wallpapers applied via the Gallery app come out blurry and poorly scaled but the same image, applied by other means, work fine. For example, I can apply an image by opening the gallery (either by hand or by long press on the desktop) and the result will be blurry and scaled poorly. If I open the same file in another image viewer or a browser and apply it from there it works fine. Is this a bug in the gallery app on the Galaxy Tab? Has any one else noticed? How are others applying wallpapers?
Example:
Applied via Dolphin HD (clear)

Applied via Gallery (blurry):

The Gallery app doesn't appear to use the full res versions of the photos, and the updated one that uses better photos has some FC errors. I use an app called Crop Wallpaper, which sets itself up so you can use the sharing from your gallery or any other photo app to send it over, crop the area you want, apply it, and you're all set.
Free on the market and is the best solution I've found so far.
Yes, that's also what I found out. I'm using Multi Picture Live Wallpaper now, you can define different picture for each page in the homepage. It's free from the market.

Thanks for Crop wallpaper, the UI needs some work but gets the job done perfectly

Just downloaded Crop Wallpaper and it works amazingly well. Thanks for the recommendation.
Whenever i take a few photos with the camera they show up in the gallery for a minute or two then when you go back into gallery they dont show up but astro can see them fine, ive tried clearing data and the cache for gallery. Is there any fix to this?

Get quickpic. Been using it ever since. I hate gallery lol. Quick pic is 10 times quicker

I've had this happen on occasion, usually they show up again if I manually rescan media using Spare Parts.
Thanks guys I'll try both of those things. Another little annoying problem I've been having is with my ringtone, I go into the htc music app and find a good song and trim it etc etc, ringtone works fine for a while, then whenever someone calls me later on, it goes back to the default quietly brilliant app!, I even made my own custom sound set etc. I'm not sure what to do with this one and it's really annoying.

Not trying to sound like a smartass but you don't have it plugged in and set to mass storage mode when this happens, correct? Had a friend almost throw her phone out the window because it did what you're describing and well... see the previous sentence.
I did a factory reset and that solved my issue. No more disappearing photos. It gets pretty annoying though!

Highly recommend QuickPic, as the previous user suggested. It's totally reliable and the dev is great with support.
Stock gallery is prone to issues... I haven't had it installed for months.

One more thing to add. The only thing I don't like about quickpic is that it doesn't show my picasa albums like gallery does. I seriously doubt most people use picasa as much as I do though

if you want to use gallery, run first rescanSD. then you pics will become available again... it will not last for long. as soon as you exit and go in again, it will not be visible again...
rescanSD for some reason has never worked for me, i've been frustratingly going through astro shortcuts to my photos until recently.
Anyone have any idea how to keep Album and Ebook Covers from showing up in the gallery. Want it to be just my photos etc from cam and downloads but they all show up there in all different folders?
Find where those pictures are stored. Go in that folder and make a new folder call .nomedia
Thanks

Just touch and hold the "offending" file and an option menu will pop up where you can select "Exclude" - done.

I use a great little free app called quickpic which allows you to chose which folders are listed and it loads up large galleries nice and quick.

personally i find the default Gallery app pretty rubbish, it only refreshes content on a reboot for example.
i try and avoid using it as much as possible.

Yes, thats a nice little one.. I just loaded it and it has the exclude in it..
also allows you to backup to the root directry that the offending files are hanging out under..
i.e Books\nonfiction\files.. thus no need to do it individually..
it also works in well with the Picture framer I am using as a widget on one of my home screens..
where I have setup client files for previews.. now I think I just about got the perfect setup for it as a portable
casestudy showcase..so to recap on that..
ESfile explorer - to setup directory links as folders on a home screen
Picture framer to allow 4 large pictures on any one home screen - thus a quick tap takes you in to that themed directry
Quickpic - to run as the main viewer and slideshow engine..

Quickpic is excellent.
