hi all!
have been using my phone for half year thought scrolling between home screens on Sense 1.9/2.1 always seemed very sluggish and below average needs. never thought stock launcher of Sense 1.9/2.1 could be capable of disabling scrolling wallpaper nor thought home screens could be as smooth as in good custom launchers :cyclops:
using "static live wallpaper" app from market, there is option to use standard non-live wallpapers.home screen feels hell smooth above 20fps now, anyone tried ?

First, your sense versions are off
Sense 1.9: Known as "old sense". Shipped with the desire, pull down lockscreen, plus button for personalize, etc.
Sense 2.1: First shipped on Desire HD, ported to desire. Ring lockscreen, updated music, email and calendar apps. Had the "palette"style personalize button, added 3D effect to rosie
Sense 1.9, or old sense is not laggy at all. Sense 2.1, yes it is on the desire (compared to the stock old sense)
There were sense 2.1 / 3.0 Hybrids (same framework, updated apps and effects) but NEVER a 1.9 / 2.1 hybrid.
To answer your question, never tried, but if you use a cynogen mod called "no wallpaper" (works great with amoled screens) the speed of the launcher increases, so I imagine a non scrolling wallpaper would achieve the same effect.
aren't an-droid and supernova 2.4.1 roms based on stock old sense 1.9? both roms suffer from low framerate by default( default sense launcher).not talking about cm mods or other launchers...main point is that wallpaper scrolling just degrade sense launcher graphics performance..too much probably and there is no option to disable that in settings menu like go laucher or adw ex..static wall app does his job here

I've tried it. It is smooth but only for old versions of sense like 1.9 or 2.0. On 3.5 it is no difference [Runnymede AIO Stable]
as i remember some sense 3.5 roms have option for non scrolling wallpaper already.
but on 2.1+3.0 hybrids makes difference like on old sense
Hello everyone,
I was just wondering what the differences of features are between HTC Sense (the UI functions that allow things like syncing Facebook contacts with Google, "Friend Stream," etc.) and other "cover" interfaces such as AOSP, Nova, etc. One of them is probably just a barebones version but what extra features do the others have?
Or are they all just stripped?
Thanks.
AOSP is pure Android and is as basic as it gets. It's an OS designed to be put on any device you want to put it on as simply as possible.Sense is usually about 3X as big as AOSP due to all the added "features." It's pretty, but the newer versions can bog this device down.
Nova is just a launcher. It changes the general UI (homescreens and app drawer). Hooray for launchers.

Will we get the new touchwiz UI that the S5 has?
Okay, so I've pretty much accepted that we're not going to get Android 7.0 on our device. But is there at least a way to port the System UI from Vanilla Android 6.0 to our P8?
The main reason why I was waiting for Nougat on our P8 was because of EMUI 5's use of Stock Android-like notification and app switcher. EMUI 4's notification shade and app switcher is so slow that it degrades the speed of the workflow. Heck, I can navigate on my old LG G3 running LG UX way faster than my P8, and the G3 has older hardware than the P8! (but the screen of my G3 is very damaged so I can't use it well anymore)

I know, right. But I doubt that CM13 build will have Huawei's camera drivers, thus producing great images (which is important for me as I also use my P8 for serious photography). I just wanted to know if it is possible to port AOSP System UI on EMUI and not AOSP as a whole.

you could try using an emui theme which fits aosp design.

I don't think you got my point. What I'm trying to say is that AOSP's (or similar that doesn't copy iOS) notification panel and recent apps switcher is a lot faster and can definitely improve my workflow if I have it on my P8, and that I don't need an AOSP rom but only replace EMUI's system UI with AOSP while keeping Huawei's system optimizations. Using themes aren't gonna help at all.
Hey guys, can we port samsung's one ui and it's features to our phone?other than using custom launchers and icon pack??
