Yes and obviously you knew that! So common dictates that this question will have been asked before and because it is a obvious question there will be guides/sticky topics about it.
The whole purpose of the guides etc is so that people read them, not just assume they dont exist, not bother to check and the create topics asking for them. Please use some common sense!
Just boot into MAGLDR and flash with the installer that comes with the rom, simple!
If you haven't got magldr either then you need to go read teh magldr thread.
Simply put your device into bootloader mode (hold volume down button while booting) then run magldr flasher or use the all-in-one HD2 tools in the Android NAND sticky thread.
PS. PLEASE watch the following video to the END!

Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939682/ carefully, and you will know what to do. After done the step C, boot into the MAGLDR, go to 5. USB flasher, run the DAF.exe in your favorite rom.

sir, i read a lot before flashing anything on my phone,bt still somethings like having "2.xx.51.xx" or ny hd2 with 51 in as its radio will brick, always miss out,
yes ppl do post guides, they post it coz on their mobile it works, ppl DO follow their guide before flashing anything,bt they still do get bricks,as every phone is unique and have different variable associated with em.
i just wanted to make a checklist of things to check before flashing anything,
and abt that video, sir believe me i am more than capable of abusing/insulting verbally, but unlike u, i RESPECT ppl and try to think BEFORE saying anything . seeing ur thanks meter m sure u were capable posting something useful that wld have saved someone's hd2,but u chose to post that.

[Q] Back to Windows Mobile 6.5.

Im currently using WP7, Im trying to install Andriod but Im not sure how to do that. Ive been searching around the site for a couple hours and i cant figure this out. I understand how mods and other members dont like hearing noobs like me asking questions but im stuck and in need of assistance. Ive been reading that I have to format my SD Card back to Fat32 or something to get it to work again, im not sure how to do that.
Im trying to downgrade to 6.5 then install andriod, or if I can just go straight to andriod. From what I understand you can install andriod using NAND so that whenever you turn on your phone it boots into andriod instantly. So could someone show me a video or a tutorial that explains how to get rid of WP7 and fix my sd card. Please and thank you fellow XDA peeps!
Hey do you have another phone to put your SD card in? I just put the sd card in my old HTC hero and formatted it.
If you have WP7, I'm guessing you have MAGDLR so when you boot your phone hold down the power button until you see the list of boot options, if you put your phone into USB FLASHER you can install android directly.
hope this helps, and I hope I'm right.

You don't have to do so.. you dont need to install win mo 6.5 to migrate to Android ..... What version of MGLDR are you running? is it 1.13? If it's a yes ...
Then
- restart your mobile
- hold the cancel call button (right one on hd2) and hold it ....
- this brings you to a menu ....
- Select USB FLASHER mode ...
Now I am assuming that you got some NAND installer (Android) to do this ... once you are in this mode .... and you are connected to the PC ... you should
- get a pop up and the device central will connect your mobile to the PC
- Now its a mtter of running the RUU which you got to install Android
One more thing re the noob thing you mentioned. We like helping others but noobs typically spam the forum with questions and never say thanks (by pressing thanks button). .
Also they tend to ask the same quesiton over and over again without checking if it has been answered before ...
Make sure that you are not like the norm and show good attitude to your fellow peeps on a forum .... you will soon realise what a lovely community this is ...

Just follow the link below my signature for Leo custom ROM flash tutorials. You shouldn't need to revert to WM to go to Android. task29..don't just reflash.
Imperative!!!! Use task29 to totally clean your phone of any traces of previous ROM flashes before installing Android. Many people encounter phantom issues because they do not task29 to clean out traces of other ROM flashes and then wonder why their phone is having problems no one can figure out how to fix.
Alight. So I can just flash it through MAGLDR, well I found this link and Im still not to sure on what im suppose to do. I think I have to put something on my SD card, but i cant cause I have WP7.

Do I have to install CWM to do it? I downloaded the rom from the link but when I opened it there was just a bunch of files and I dont know what to do with them. I was going to try and flash WM 6.5 so I could just fix my sd card and find out where to go from there but I couldnt get that to work. Please and thank you.

[Q] need to upgrade from window 6.5 to android on HTC HD2

hey guys can anybody help me with how to android OS from windows 6.5 OS..most importantly where can i get android.zip ??
welcome to xda.
so, part of me wants to be helpful and part of me wants to be snarky.
snarky - ffs...really? did you search? did you noticed the sections entitled android? did you try anything? did you read the stickies?
helpful - you need to read, my friend.

just a few threads.
again, welcome. please realize that though new threads are great, most are not necessary and can junk up the board (e.g. this thread). try to search first, then actually try something, then post if issues. cheers.
Obviously didnt even bother to watch the XDA video thats it shown to them when signing up.
Also must lack basic common sense.
So there is a search bar but I'm not going to be rude. Your new to the site so welcome aboard. Your Noob-ness wont last for long. You will pick this stuff up pretty quickly just like most people have.
To get started, you have to find out which Android ROM to use. There are hundreds upon hundreds of different versions that people have made. To begin with, I'd recommend you download and install Cotulla's and DFT's Stock NAND Rom. Very simple yet effective.
Here's the link for that one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620
It's somewhat outdated but still works like a charm for most.
You will also need to download 2 programs if you choose to go along with the ROM I mentioned above.
1.) MAGLDR 1.13 Found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
Download the file associated with it and extract it to your desktop
2.) HSPL Radio 2.08 Found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
You will need to download that file as well.
After you've downloaded all 3 of these files (Android ROM, MAGLDR 1.13, and HSPL Radio 2.08) and extracted them all, then your ready to begin.
First go into your bootloader settings (Have phone turned off>Press Power Button and Volume Down Button at same time).
Have your phone plugged into the USB port of your computer and double click on the HSPL .exe file first. Once that's done, your phone will reboot and go back to the Bootloader screen once again. From there, your going to double click on the MAGLDR 1.13 .exe file and follow the instructions it tells you. Your doing all this with your phone plugged into your computer of course. Once that's all done make sure your phone is turned off. HOLD the power button until theres a screen that pops up on your phone with 12 different options. Scroll down using the volume down button to "USB Flasher" or something similar. click on with the green call button on your phone. Your leaving your phone plugged in through all of this. Once your to that point, and you selected USB flasher, then double click on the ROM .exe and follow the instructions. CONGRATS!! You've installed your first Android ROM.
Here's a couple videos with a step by step process.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvS4EvS0PAw&feature=player_embedded
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVoCi0qkrBg
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to message me. If I were you though, I'd research quite a bit before you just start doing stuff. Your likely to ruin your phone if you don't have the patience to research first! Good luck to ya!

Hi,
You should also include a mention for a new radio(needed coming from WinMo)and possibly a task 29 to start with a fresh NAND...
@ramkidec11
Make sure you know whether you have a TMOUS or EU/ international phone.
The toolkit suggested by jsmccabe78 is your best friend in this job(read the thread carefully).
Here is a good place to look as well:

When you get MAGDLR working I highly recommend the Typhoon CM7 ROM found here:

You are probably much better of linking people to the AIO HD2 tool rather the separate sections. Its great and includes everything you need to prepare you HD2 for Android or WP7.
[15 Jun 2011][v4.1] HD2 NAND Toolkit - All in one Toolkit for HD2 NAND Users
start with SD versions, they're easy to install and don't destroy your winmo.
I recommend Rafdroid that has a nice installation instructions.

Help a newbie out please

I recently brought a HTC HD2 and I wanted to change the Windows Mobile OS to the android OS. I tried reading the instruction here on the forum on how to do it but no luck...damn I'm just not techsavvy enough to do this. If anyone have the time to help me...I would appreciate it. I think it would be best if we chatted 1 on 1 on a AIM messenger or whatever on the step-by-step procedures. Thanks!
all the steps are on the guides, you will need to do alot of reading, ill be honest if you read the guides and still dont understand how to do it, you woudl be better off sticking to winmo or putting on an SD version of android
I tried reading the guides but it's confusing as hell with all the instructions scrambling around. Shoot I just don't want to brick my phone...

Mate,
What kind of Android do you want to run on your HD2?
Is it NAND or is it SD Android? Do you know the difference?
If you only want to have SD Android, then it will be easier for you to follow.
And you can keep your WInmo. I mean you will have 2 OS, i.e Winmo and SD Android. Just like mine (see my sig below)
The first thing you have to do is installing SPL 2.08 HSPL.
To do that, you have to go into bootloader screen. How? Turn off your phone.
Now, press the VOLUME DOWN and POWER ON BUTTONS at the same time, and release only after the FOUR COLORS SCREEN appear (Red, Blue, Green and White). If you arrive at this point, then you now know how to boot into the so called "Bootloader Screen".
Now, Check at the white color part (the below part) whether there is any text say: "Serial" (without quote). If yes, now you can connect your hd2 to your PC using USB cable. In doing this, you should plug in the rear (not front) usb port of your PC. If this is the first time, your PC would need time to install the necessary USB driver. If succeeded, you will see the text "Serial" now has changed to "USB". You can proceed to next step, i.e installing SPL 2.08 HSPL.
Remember HSPL is always be required for flashing ROM, etc. You will see it HSPL mentioned all over the HD2 forums. So you have to be able to install HSPL before going to further step.
Sorry, if I forgot, you also have to download HSPL 4. It is an application for installing SPL 2.08 HSPL and other SPL. You can download it from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433&highlight=HSPL+4
Once you downloaded HSPL 4, extract it to whatever folder in your PC.
Keep in mind, it is for PC running MS Windows. If you are running Windows 7, you have to run as an administrator.
Now, while in the bootloader, connected you USB, and the text already changed to "USB", you run HSPL 4 from your PC. You have to follow the instruction there carefully. So, please read the guides provided in the link mentioned above.
If you can achieve this stage, then we can go on to the next level, i.e Flashing Radio, Task 29, etc.
Goodluck

This guy makes it sound difficult For SD Android, you need to go to http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1043&news_id=782 and install Rom upgrade 3.14 (just connect phone to computer and press a button, that's really all you have to do). You should be fine, but if you want to then check that you have SPL 3.03 and radio 2.15 (in bootloader and WinMo settings>software information respectively) then download an android build (I recommend AmeriCanAndroid), put it on your SD card (Copy and paste) and press two files on file explorer (clrcad and haret). You will then have Android and Windows Mobile
No HPSL, Radio, Task 29 etc needed. In other words: YOU CANNOT BRICK YOUR PHONE.

You best option is to stay away from flashing Android and to stick to Windows Mobile and possibly decide to boot Android from SD instead of flashing. Once you have spent some time reading, learning and understand the process more you can branch out to maybe installing MAGLDR on your device and then flashing Android.

A virgin would definitely put money on the line to prove that they're not a virgin. The only way you going to prove that you got laid is that you paid a hooker to bang you. Bloke, you're just trying too hard to prove something from a random stranger on the internet. You're so funny...that childish attempt of mine seems to hit a nerve because YOU'RE THE ONE that is fazed.
P.S. never take advices from a Brit on how to get laid! LOL!
I must say this thread sums up the difficulty one experiences trying to learn the guides on this site, very badly written, at least for noobs (which is what they all claim to be.. "ultimate noob guide".. not).
There could be just a few choice stickies to solve so many issues... like a post that get updated or voted on as to what is the fastest running rom for X device..
Basic descriptions of the strange terms used.
Explainations that HTC seem to be very unstable when flashing. I have seen one attempt to be flashed 10 times, and the 11th times it JUST WORKED - no rhyme or reason. No wonder people freak out on here.
I have spend a few days just trying to get basic direction, I finally get a rom on my HD2, it is slow and flaky as, but I am hella scared to touch it becuase it was an absolute sh*t fight to get that one on there. Now I have wasted another half day trying to figure out what a better, faster NAND rom will be, if SuperRam is bettr (?!?) jesus christ I just want a stable phone.
You guys flaming people for not knowing the mountain of crap to learn about flashing roms are a bit harsh IMO.

yeah no problem, but do a little reading first cause the steps i give need to make sense to you as well, but this should really be easy and care free. lol
and is your hd2 the tmobile version or EU version, you need to know that, real important when it comes to roms.
what you need to download is as follows, and you can find it in the hd2 android forums:
hspl 4 to unlock phone, 2.15.50 radio, magdlr 1.13, and cwm recovery and the rom you want to run.
1. put your phone in bootloader mode ( while phone is powered down hold volume down and power button) and it will take you to a tri colour screen.
2.with your phone plugged in, it will look and search for the htc drivers and your phone will say usb on the bottom, and when it says that, run the HSPL.exe file you downloaded. this will hack your phone.
3. as soon as your phone reboots hold the volume down and power button to put it back in the tri colour screen. now install the 2.15. radio you downloaded by running the custom ruu, and this will install it for you.
4. now once again, once it completes put your phone into tri coulour screen again, and run magdlr. This will install magdlr for you as well, the bootloader that will replace the original. this is whats going to get you into nand android, or wp7 etc.
5. once thats done phone will reboot, and now it will reboot into magdlr. from here on, you will have to put your phone into usb flasher mode. the phone will install other usb drivers once you do that.
6. once thats done, while on usb flasher mode, install the recovery you downloaded, and using the dft installer, will install the recovery. follow the instructions ins the recovery flasher.
7. when thats down, in magdlr go into ad recovery, and this will put you into the Android recovery.
8. using your volume rocker, go down to mounts/storage, and mount usb/storage, and transfer your rom over to ur sd card.
9. unmount and go into "install zip from sd card." and choose the rom you just transferred. this will take a few minutes, just let it sit till it finishes.
10. once complete go into reboot phone, and watch the magic happen.
Notes: on first boot, usually it will take a lil longer since its running alot of stuff in the background just sit tight and be paitent.
Make sure you download the rom that fits your phone ( tmobile version, or EU)
In the future when you get better and have a little knowledge, using the hd2toolkit is like god, makes alot of things easier with system partions etc...
and like i said please read a little so you can grasp a little knowledge before trying. but you shouldnt really have a problem. Good luck and let me know what else i can do to help and enjoy your new phone!

Nobody will help you more than tecle2595 did above (that was a long and correct answer to your question)
Everything you need to install android without bricking your phone is explained multiple times in details in this forum, and as others said, you even have the luxury to watch youtube videos.
All people here were noobs the first time they joined XDA, and most of us spent hours to decypher the help tutorials. I know it's very hard but you absolutely need to understand all of it if you want to move to android custom roms... otherwhise you'll keep on asking questions on the forum and you'll get stuck at a certain point.
This thread is a good start
Keep on reading the tutorials until you get them, than follow exactly the procedures, and it's guaranteed that you won't brick your phone !

You will never brick your phone by installing software from the Android market, so don't worry about that. In fact, you can't brick an EU HD2 at all as far as I know.
Some things I couldn't live without are:
SetCPU - allows you to control the speed of your CPU whilst performing different tasks.
Titanium Backup - as the name suggests, is a backup tool. Can't count how many times I've used it and my backups have saved my ass.
Juice Defender - Others say it isn't useful, I personally find it helps
Current Widget - Gives you your battery drain, really helps me tell when something's wrong and an app is draining the battery too much
3G watchdog - Measures your 3G usage and warns you if you get near your limit
(For AOSP/CM7) GO Launcher - IMO the best launcher in the market
Dolphin Browser - IMO the best browser in the market
(For AOSP/CM7) ExDialer + Contacts - Stock CM7 dialer isn't as good as this one
Can't think of any more that I really need, so I hope this helps you

What stage are you on? Have you flashed MAGLDR yet? If you can't find daf.exe in order to flash MAGLDR then I have no clue what it is, but if you mean when trying to flash a ROM then see this excellent guide (by mskip as well) which is more up to date. You need to download and flash CWM and then flash a ROM as a zip file for (as far as I know) every single up to date ROM.
i followed the guide to the letter, so yes i have magldr and cwm.
Daf is for old style roms, or for flashing flash.cfg style cwm layouts. If you use the nand toolkit you can forget about daf.
Apply 2.08.Hspl *
Apply Radio 2.15.50*
Install Magldr *
Install Cwm which also partitions the nand to the size required by your chosen rom
Create ext partition using cwm*
Copy romname.zip (don't extract it) to SD
In cwm choose flash zip from SD.
* steps only need doing once, or after you task29.

Well, you haven't followed the guide to the letter then, otherwise you would have read that you have to (as samsamuel said) place the .zip on your SD card and flash the ROM as a zipped file

Yea use toolkit. Make the install clean and fast! You wont have to worry about missing DAF file.
new question
when i go to ad recovery in the magldr menu the screen reads
android load raw
[k]11808000:2b78e8 12800000:22fdef 11800100
load done!
1efatal hit 1
what in the world does that mean?

Good to know that Look at the OPs or posts I was replying to and you will not find a single instance where I either didn't help at all or where the person I was raging at didn't deserve it. I am an asshole towards people who are simply too stupid to serach and stuff like that. You're clearly not one of those people and I replied as such, with a concise and correct answer. Even if I do flame someone, I will mostly give them a link to the correct answer (assuming I know it) somewhere in the post. However, I cannot tolerate posts involving 'How do I flash Android' or 'What is the best ROM', and if you just reply normally to these questions people will keep spamming them.
Now post me the guide you used, and I can 100% guarantee that if it was a full guide involving flashing a ROM via CWM I will be able to find something about flashing a zip file.
