What's the best launcher for gingerbread, i was using lp when I had froyo but i've noticed that applications open up slower from lp than the stock blur launcher. Has anyone noticed that? And plants vs zombies was lagging when using lp, then I switched to stock and plants vs zombies was so fluid.

lp on gb
I was having problems with launcherpro when I was running the leaked GB roms but since installing 4.5.596 rooted from TBH I haven't been having any issues with launcherpro.
Lp should not have had anything to plants vs zombies
Leaked 5.88
Im Running the leaked 5.88 and LP freezes and FCs constantly. I used Go Launcher EX for a while and it runs much smoother but it doesnt have all those nice LP eidgets i love

I absolutely loved LP for a longtime and stopped looking casually at other launchers until I stumbled upon go launcher ex. Very smooth and easy to use. Highly customizable, and great themes. Only thing that they could improve on is there Widgets.

I've always been a fan of LauncherPro's speed and functionality. I've used both ADW Launcher EX and GO Launcher EX as well, and both have excellent functionality and Widgets, but LauncherPro is my favorite.

Once you installed v6 supercharger it does not matter. Its scripts will optimize your phones memory and make any launcher 'hard to kill'!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Zeam Launcher currently seems to be the best option for fluidity and speed.
3 Options
1. ADW Launcher / ADW Launcher EX - Highly customizable launcher
2. Launcher7 / Launcher7 Pro - Windows Phone 7 / Metro UI style launcher
3. SBP Shell 3D - I love this launcher, but the reason it's last is because I would recommend paying $15 for it, I did though, but it has some of the most beautiful widgets on the market and is extremely smooth on the Droid X. If you have the cash to burn then go with this one.

I am trying to settle on a launcher to use with CM7. So far this is what I see.
ADW is nice but a bit laggy at times.
Zeam super fast but I cannot see how to change icons for apps.
Gingerbread launcher, can't customize the launcher or number of screens. 5 is default but I only need 3.
Thanks,
RA

Just tried Launcher Pro... pretty nice and VERY customizable. I am going to give it a few days and see if it can become my standard. Thanks for the tip. I saw a lot of people using it but REALLY wanted Zeam to work. Oh well, Android certainly does give plenty of choices.

No problems mate but to be honest why launcherpro beats adw its because launcherpro is very simple basic made not like adw too much useless tweaks if you want to try out spb mobile shell leave me a pm ill send you a vid that does a demo of the home launcher and step by step how to install the launcher

I lime adw ex. I have tried launcher pro(paid version) and it didn't seem as polished as adw. The transitions are far superior than in lp. They are smoother. I keep coming back to adw

I am using launcher pro and it works great. I love the facebook widget a lot.
Launcherpro paid version offers very smooth and sexy widgets that adw doesnt + you can resize any widget easily and as desired
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Imho, adw has become too bloated with customizations and tweaks. Too many choices makes a headache for me. Launcher pro is a bit smoother, just as tweakable without as many settings, a bit more straight forward, and has nice htc-like widgets. I like the sliding dock with custom dock skins too compared to the pop-up dock bar in adw.

+1 for launcher pro. been using it for over a year now on all my devices. it does lag on the nook color.
First let me say I'm not rooted. With that out of the way, are there any home launchers that are optimized for this tegra 2 phone? I've used ADW, Launcher pro, and Go Launcher and all 3 of them ran slightly slower than just using the stock launcher.

GO Launcher EX ran fast on my non-rooted Atrix. There are a lot of settings for GO Launcher and I just set all the transitions to the fastest settings and it ran fine. I didn't notice any lag at all. I'm rooted now and I'm still using GO Launcher EX.
In fact I'm using all their add-ons for SMS, Dialer, Weather, Score, etc and they all run pretty fast on the Atrix.

When you installed the launcher, did you remove all the widgets you had on the stock launcher? If you didn't, they'll still be there running even when you use a new launcher. Remove everything then add the new launcher and set it up the way you like. Should be a lot smoother.
Also, have you tried Zeam? It's fairly minimal but quick.

I can vouch for the new update with the Icon Transition in the app drawer, its pretty slick. Good stuff here.. not sure how the GO team keeps this stuff free.
same as post above, golauncher is just as good if not better than lp plus, and its free. no brainer

+1 for Go Launcher. The ICS theme available for it is very slick if you're going for that look. For all other intents and purposes it gets updated more frequently than any other launcher available, lots of features and transition effects.

Adw EX Launcher : you can argue with it it's just the fastest; it's SUPER snappy. Go Launcher is full of options but it get slower and slower. Like most of the Go Team products : starts great then it goes in all directions and becomes a factory...
Try scrolling the app drawer in vertical mode in Go Launcher then in ADW...and feel the pain for Go.

if you don't want much fanciness than Zeam Launcher is for you. However I am personally loving Holo Launcher HD especially with the gestures that can be used with the free version. I installed the APK from dubi's hidebar and now all I have to do to hide the bar is swipe up.
