Just been online and read a few posts about Android 2.3.4 updates on the Nexus, which allegidly suffered from the infamous 2.3.3 battery drains.
But unless i'm mistaken, according to what I have read online the 2.3.4 has not fixed this issue.

You can check this out http://www.gsmarena.com/android_234_gingerbread_leaks_for_the_samsung_galaxy_s_i9000-news-2761.php
An update although it's for galaxy S. All I'm picking up from the comments is speed. You shouldn't compare other phones with 2.3.4 as it's all down to the manufacturers on how they implement fixes to the ROM. Nexus S has more support so I wouldn't compare the two.

Yup, I am not saying that the 2.3.4 update won't fix battery life on S2, but don't put your eggs in one basket.

Many have confirmed with the SGS1 that Android OS bug is now gone in their 2.3.4 firmware. So if thats the case, I only seem to have bad battery drain when I check battery stats and Android OS is taking up 80% of battery drain - even more than display time. Apparently 2.3.4 should be helping take care of that. We will see though. Until then, I think all we can do is cross our fingers and not assume that it will or will not take care of battery drain and will see when it comes.

I heard what he heard and the folks on the SGS1 forum seem happy. What any of us have "heard" is really irrelevant since none of it has been tested on a SGS2. We'll find out soon enough when 2.3.4. gets released.
I bet just putting a new version number on the same release and claiming it improves battery life would anyway have dozen of ppl claiming how much better their battery has become.
Battery is very very subjective ;-)
Personally checking the Android OS time I doubt I would get a lot more battery life from the SGS2 even if it wasn't there. Probably 3h more if the phone is on standby after 3 days, yes, but when using it, 10min?
2.3.4 Leaked Firmware is out for Galaxy S. It still has the Battery Drain Problem.
oooo thats bad ,i wont upgrade it till everyone say good thing about 2.3.4,staying with 2.3.3 for the moment lol cant face a bad battery problems not when im listening lots of music for many hrs
even though it might not completely fix the battery drain problem, I believe 2.3.4 will at least improve battery life across the board.

Just because you have some sort of problem, you shouldnt assume everyone does. We all set up our phones quiet differently, which means some are set up better than others. Some on custom, some on stock.
So please try not to make sweeping generalisations.

Well, you still do have this problem. Just because for your set-up and phone usage it doesn't manifest itself as strong as for others that doesn't mean it isn't there.
It's a general bug in Android in combination with the SGSII so it's on your phone too.

Well its official... 2.3.4 DOES still have the android OS drain problem!
My phone had an issue with the usb port and had to be sent away for repair last week.
I picked my phone up on Monday (2 days ago) after it had been repaired and it had been upgraded whilst it was away from 2.2.1 JPY ( I flashed it back to stock JPY before sending it away ) to 2.3.4 JVQ.
I have read a lot of posts debating that the OS problem is due to custom kernels etc etc, but my phone is still at the moment completely stock with only a few apps installed.
It was ok for the first 2 days but i have taken it off charge this morning and the android OS was draining 47% battery!
I lost 12% battery in 2 hours.
So yes the android OS bug DOES still exist n 2.3.4 stock roms.

I've never had OS drain on 2.3.3 stock after clearing cache partition and dalvik cache. Need root to clear dalvik cache though. Battery life is great seems much better than tweaked 2.2.1.

Even if it's "official" I oppose all the opinions that Froyo was so much better for battery life:
I have been running every GB Stock ROM (with Voodoo or Hardcore Kernel) and the battery life with my 200+ apps is slightly better (after a workday with wifi on I still have 30-40% battery left with GB instead of runnning empty on Froyo). I had battery drain after flashing some of the stock rom versions, but I also used Titanium Backup to restore system settings so I blame this for the bad battery life.
Now - running on JVR with Hardcore K15i T10 - everything works great!
But, if you feel like going back to Froyo, do so and stop complaining about problems with GB you most certainly triggered yourself....
BTW, even if if this is OT, could you please use more specific thread titles and stop insulting yourselves?
Any News from Google about the ICS bugfixes? I want to upgrade to ICS again, but until that horrible battery drain isn't fixed I won't.

the battery does not drain so much
As I've posted in the other battery thread, I'm definitely seeing worse battery life running ICS. It's about 10% less than what I'm used to seeing by the end of the day, while maintaining about the same usage.
So, no one knows anything?
I'm at 10hrs with 31% battery left. As someone else wrote its about 10% more than normal at this time of the day for me. So not horrible but some improvement would be nice, its not enough for me to go back to GB. NS4G

I'm pretty sure that this bug will be fixed right away

I had the same issue in the beginning, but not any more after a hard reset with G+ & location services disabled. Actually, the battery performance is awesome.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm also assuming since this is 4.0.3, it already addressed bugs that were in .1 and .2 builds. I wouldn't expect a .4 anytime too soon.
But hopefully better battery life is among the improvements.
Myself
I had no problem with battery drain myself, but a really annoying bug - music was stopping itself withing 1-10 minutes after I`d started it. Wipe didn`t help. Sh*t!
So I guess all we can do is wait.

he could have disabled all animations, force-closed processes, etc.
I have bluetooth running eight hours a day, streaming music for four to five of those to it, at least three to four hours of reading massive PDFs (textbooks), ppts, and word documents, WIFI on whenever available, etc.
I've gotten 10-13 hours without too many issues. The 10 was with a LOT of screen time, wifi or data running always, and bluetooth running always.
It also depends how you charge your battery. I make sure to fully charge my battery, and then run it into the GROUND (eg note powers off completely) before I plug it back in. Every time. You get maximum capacity that way, there's a name for this, but I can't remember what.
Anyway, battery 101. Kill processes, disable unneccesary services, use WIFI when you have it, disable everything you don't need, disable sync if you want/need to, disable gps, animations, and especially use minimal screentime. I don't see why the note wouldn't pull at least 36 hours if it was left in airplane mode the whole time.
Actually I was just watching movies and listening through bluetooth, thats why I don't have other processes eating my battery but I didn't do anything special..just straight 6 hours of watching movies using mobo player..
But I noticed that using mobile data to surf the net would drain my battery faster, so try to use wifi whenever available..
Everything about my setup is stock, only de-odexed to manually install my language..
Also noticed that when my phone left idleing, there will be Android OS drain in my battery usage, wigh "suspend" and "events0" showing in BetterBatteryStats but I still didn't figure out how to solve that..

I've been pondering over whether or not to upgrade to ICS now as the german version is released. My question is whether or not the battery life is similar to what you get with gingerbread. I've attached an image of what i get on a normal day, when i am at work and use my phone normally and not when i am sitting at home and never let my phone hit deep sleep!
Sure you get a lot of added features but battery life is what i really care about at i need to go sometimes two days without charge.

How does it compare to ICS hour by hour? any difference would you say?
I would skip this Samsung release of ICS. Samsung's interpretation of ICS is not terribly different then GB unless you run a different launcher. I thought battery life was worse on the German release. With the added risk of bricking a few have experienced, don't do it.
If you want try the ICS, go with this one;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627854
With this one, you can easily and safely role back to GB from a nandroid backup. This one does not have Touchwiz and the SPen is not fully functional as it is in TW.
I find battery better on GB personally but not by much when u compare it to the silky smooth quickness of ICS

Well, if wakelocks aren't the problem.. Then I don't know.. ICS battery life seems better in general, but GB shouldn't be that different (and wasn't for me me I used it). Not that your battery life is bad or anything, but it could be better. Like I said, your phone in deep sleep should hardly use battery at all.
