Earpiece buzzing on calls - Galaxy S II General

I was already debating taking my Galaxy S2 back because of the pink/yellow tinge camera issue. Now I've discovered a new issue. The earpiece is continually buzzing during phone calls. This is worse if the volume is turned up to maximum. I've had many phones down the years, but this is the first that I've experienced earpiece buzzing.
Has anyone else experienced this, or is this just a one off bad phone?
Thanks

Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

Nope, not at all. No yellow tint. Only batterylife which is not Samsung's fault. Guess I'm lucky.

Thanks for the reply.
I've had many phones down the years, but never experienced earpiece "buzzing" before. It's really annoying! I did a search on the web and it seems to be a very common experience with all makes of mobiles. I suppose you can just get a slight duff one!
I contact the T-Mobile UK Support Twitter page about returning it (it's just under 2 weeks old) and they said I had to send it away to get repaired. That's bull**** surely. I though you had 28 days from new to get a handset swapped????? Isn't that UK law.
I get the impression on the net that sometimes stores lie about this so they don't have to give you a new handset.
Anyone clarify this?
Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Went to the service centre, the technician insists that this is normal as long as the speaker is not blown. Sucks lol.
I guess I'll live with it for awhile until I can't take it any longer then I'll have them replace the ear speaker.

Sometimes I get this buzzing noise via Bluetooth headphones only when I'm on a telephone call. But it rare.

redbullman, did you manage to fix it?

ok I got back my phone (SGS2 international version) from Samsung Service Centre, after a second persuasion they changed the front panel (whole LCD including the front speaker, not sure if the back speaker too, I don't know the structure of the phone).
And now, it's solved!! NO MORE BUZZING when making/receiving calls!
Definitely go ask for an exchange or a change of your panel guys! It's a HARDWARE ISSUE.

Nexus s earpiece

Crackling sound in the earpiece when calling with volume on highest. Goes away when you press down near the FCC and speaker but comes back immediately after letting go. Anyone have this problem?
Searched the forum but nothing came up. Sorry if this was already a thread.

Sounds like a loose speaker or other defect. Mine doesn't do that. I'd consider taking back to BB (or wherever you got it) and exchanging for a new one. Test it before leaving store.
A friend of mine had exactly the same problem with his Samsung Galaxy S. I guess the speaker in the SNS is prone to the same defect.
Time for an exchange methinks

[Q] Earpiece/Speakerphone Crackling/Distorting

Just wondering if anyone has experienced their Atrix crackling or distorting when making calls using the earpiece or speakerphone. I searched around and it seems a limited number of people are experiencing this when their volume is set to over 50% or near the max. I am experiencing this even when my volume is set to under 50%.
I am referring to the earpiece/speakerphone and not the actual speaker in the back.
Yes. I have the same problem. Nothing has fixed it so far. Sometimes I can't hear anyone, cause it gets so loud. Let me know how you resolve this!

Same issue for me, but it's minor.
Are you guys all on the stock 0.37 Bell firmware? I am currently playing around with the Noise Suppression settings but they don't seem to be helping much. I am considering flashing to the French SBF to see if it improves things.
I do have this problem. It sounds like the speaker has something loose in it and its rattling but I suspect the speaker is blown. My rear speaker is on its way to hell too. Coming from iPhone 4, i'm really disappointed with Motorola build quality.
Im on at&t. The problem is obviously hardware related. It was on firmware 1.2.6. 1.5.7 and now 1.8.3. Themed no themed, odexed, deodexed, doesn't matter. Old radio, new radio..... Seems to be related to signal quality somehow. Shall we make it a warranty issue? It happens on every call for me.

The first Atrix I had, had that problem. Went back to the store, pulled another out of the box to compare and the problem was obviously hardware related. Had the phone replaced.
Isn't this a common problem across the board with Motorola phones?
My work mate has another Motorola android phone and she had hers replaced three times due to ear piece problems!
Mine does it. Especially noticeable after dialing when waiting for the other party to pick up while it's rinigng. It's really bad at anything over 50% volume.
Definitely HW related.
Mine does it for the first ring when I call out. Then it sounds normal.

I'm thinking I'll hang tight with it for a while. The speaker seems to work fine during calls and everything but the first ring. I had issues on my Nokia E71 where the first ring would be really quiet and then after that the volume would go up to normal. If it gets worse, I'll exchange it then.
I've got the crackling issue as well. Happens at any time during a call but is especially noticeable during the initial dialing
Same issue for me too. However, it's not the speaker because I get the same noise with my headphones as well. Typically I only hear it on the first ring.

Constant buzzing in earpiece during calls

As the title says, there's a constant static. Will changing earphones help? Or it a problem with phone itself like review sites say? Is there any solution because this static makes conversation impossible which pretty much defeats the purpose of the phone. If I get RMA will others phones also have this defect?

Also noticed that static goes away when I cover the speaker with something.

I have static in my earpiece with the default in call volume (which is all the way up). When I turn the volume down some I don't have it and the volume is still plenty loud. I'm not sure if it's the same noise your having.
Not sure if problem is same as yours. Noise is kinda like static which you hear in electrical interference. Something like the sound you hear from PC speaker when your phone is near it and you get a call or SMS that time. That kind of sound constant goes up and sometimes down randomly but its almost there all the time while using earpiece only, not without it. Funny thing is when I cover up the back side speaker with my hand that static goes away. Its really strange I don't know what's going on. Never had anything so irritating and unbearable on my previous galaxy s2

Known nexus 4 issue. If it's not loud enough, I recommend you to just keep it and ignore it. If it's really loud, try RMA. Mine also buzzes but I just ignore it. People think that it is due to poor shielding or something

I have the same problem. I will be asking for a replacement, because if people just accept it, it will never get fixed. This is a defect.
This is an old issue. One of the first since the N4 came out. I have always wondered if it is a noise cancellation feature gone bad. Like the buzzing wasn't meant to be so loud, but for one reason or another just got a little stronger than what it was supposed to be.

I think I agree with others that its a hardware issue because when I keep my hand on speaker the problem goes away. Plus I talked to a couple of people who said they had their phones replaced up to 3 times!! And still ended up with a defective piece. Very bad on googles part, I would have been happier to pay more but at least get a reliable device in return. I had my phone imported so RMA will be hell for me and even after that there is no guarantee. Just sad on googles part, just sad.

[Q] Front speaker grills lopsided?

A bit of an OCD question here, but is anyone elses front speaker grill slightly lopsided? I noticed it when i tried to view my phone flat. Seems like you can push the grill in a bit to straighten it, but it slowly moves it way back to being lopsided again.

Yup...
I admit it is pretty annoying to look at, what with the rest of the device being perfectly straight and all..

Its made by Fisher Price what do you expect?
My S4 is perfect. I had an International Note 2 last year that was like that though. If I had bought it local, I would have returned it. It didn't cause any issues, but bothered me everytime I looked at it.

Just obtained a few more, all of them were lopsided too. I'm starting to think its a batch problem with the phones in the UK.
Hi, I had my phone for a few days before I noticed that it was raised on one side. I got mine form affordable mobiles in the UK sim-free. I'm contacting them regarding a replacement and they are saying that I should have contacted them in 72 hours to report damage. I told them that the phone is not damaged and that it is a manufacturing fault. After quoting the Sales of Goods Act to them they have said that I could send them the phone if I want and they will inspect it but if it is deemed to be cosmetic error that it won't be deemed faulty and they will send it back to me and not replace the handset.
Do you think the store should replace the handset? I received the phone on the 3rd of June, but I didn't use it straight away as I was waiting for cases to come.
Anyone had any success in replacing the handset because of the lopsided speaker grill? can it cause future problems?
Is there anyway to fix it? I tried to slightly push it down but that didn't work and I don't want to break anything. How is this part attached to the phone?

Mine is aligned correctly too.. Maybe a bad batch or a China made batch? Mine is one made in Korea

Mine is AT&T phone and its perfectly even. Made in korea version.

I have three Korean made phones in my possession. One is completely lopsided, one is slightly lopsided and the last is perfectly even (although it has a lopsided camera).
I have had six of the Korean made models in my hand since launch and I have been EXTREMELY disappointed with quality control. From the lopsided speaker grills, lopsided cameras, yellow tinted screens, visible capacitive buttons, to faint white lines noticeable on dim white/grey backgrounds.
It is very clear that Samsung did whatever they had to in order to meet demand/deadlines. Don't get me wrong, I love the phone and cannot bring myself to exchange it for an HTC One. The hardware and software seem to be consistent across the board but all these careless defects will leave me thinking twice before purchasing another Samsung phone.

noise nexus 10

Hello everyone, I bought a refurbished nexus 10 in usa and I live in Italy, I have noticed a slight noise coming from the screen only when it is on, now I want to know if this thing can affect the proper operation of the tablet or is only a little noise annoying, thanks
I checked and there is no noise coming from my screen. It's not normal. If you have bought it from anywhere near italy i'd recommend to return it..

They said they bought it from USA and yes I also think if you can return it you should

Are you sure the noise is from the screen? You might want to check the speakers — on the 2 Nexus 10s I had, I noticed the speakers were prone to making a hiss even when there was no sound happening because they were on-standby for the keyboard/selection sounds I had enabled. You can check by muting the volume.
Anyway, screen noise isn't unheard of. I've had quite a few LCD monitors over the years that made a high-pitched noise when not at full brightness but it didn't affect their operation in the least.
Still, if it's annoying and you can exchange/return maybe you should. The last thing you need is a gadget you subconsciously avoid using.
hello I hear the noise to the volume rocker on the top left and you do not hear with screen off, I would like to know if taking the tablet in these conditions can something happen
I had the exact same problem. I sent my tablet in for repair at Texas Samsung facility. It took them 2 times to fix the problem. Ended up they had to replace the motherboard.
