[Q] Need help deleting APKs PERMANENTLY

Im looking for ways to do it directly from the phone. Ive tried apps from the market(these only temporarily uninstall until next reboot). Ive tried Root Explorer and deleting from the system apps file(says read only file can't be deleted).
i need help. im hoping a custom ROM wont have to be cooked, i would really like to do it from the phone. Because straight up, i dont know how to do it. If someone out there does, im definitley willing to pay all i want is my stock glacier rom minus these apps:
amazonmp3.apk
AppPack.apk
Asphalt5.apk
com.htc.StockWidget.apk
DockPanel.apk
HTCSetupWizard.apk (not sure if safe)
Monopoly_Classic.apk
rockband.apk
SelfHelp.apk
Stock.apk
TMOUS_myTouchdemo.apk
Yahoo_im.apk
Yahoo_imvideo.apk
yahoo_mail.apk
and also if someone knows the file name for the NEWS and NEWS WIDGET, im unsure of the .apk name
I use SU file explorer as my root explorer app. if you press menu, there will usually be an option that says "mount system as r/w", that will give you the ability to delete from the system/app folder.

sounds like he's not rooted fellas
Please post questions in Q&A section.
Install titanium for root the free version. Click problems, download the busy box update (itz necessary) go to the app you don't want and just click uninstall. Will delete permanently if you are perm rooted. To get perm root, type in visionary apk r14 in google search bar, go to the 2nd link and download visionary, then click temp root, and after that is done click on perm root. Finished if you are not rooted, download visionary first, when you open up titanium backup, it will say asking for superuser permission click on allow

just tried it. rebooted, came right back.
I removed my unwanted apps using adb after trying Root Explorer and not being able to mount system/app as R/W. Way easy.

[Q] Visionary r10 anyone???

So I tried PErm rooting today without much success! I unfortunately uninstalled Visionary r10, after that, I was not able to push the apps using adb but several permission denied messages. Anyone know what I should you?
Then I triend installing Visoanry r14 downloaded from MoDaCo.com, I keep getting an error message:
"Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package."
I downloaded twice to the device, then once through the computer and copied to the sdcard. I got the same the same message. I am using ASTRO file manager's app manager...so I then tried a second app manager called "app manager", but that didn't work either.....
Any thoughts???
Am I destined to be unrooted?????? ARgGG

Gmail update

Try to unmount the sd then download and install, it worked for me when angry birds didn't install.
Package file not signed correctly when I did that

Same problem.
Mines updated... but I just realized none of my downloads are showing up in the market.
I found that edited apks (themed or otherwise) cause updates to not install correctly. Have you tried uninstalling gmail altogether and then reinstalling?
try using rom manager's file permissions fix that helped me with some apps that were failing upgrades. (assuming your rooted of course)
also... try using root explorer, navigate to system/app change to r/w permissions.
delete the gmail.apk, reboot to recovery and wipe dalvik. Reboot and re download from market. Hope this helps

[Q] link_image[1995]: failed to link su CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE

Long story short is that yesterday I rooted my HTC Glacier and everything seemed to work fine. I was able to obtain admin privileges by opening a Android terminal and typing "su". Today after deleting a few files from my phone which I thought were junk (face palm) I go into terminal to check if the "su" command still works and I get the message "link_image[1995]: failed to link su CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE".
I've checked and my s=off is still in place so it's not that that's causing the error message. I'm new to Android so I'm stumped as to what steps to take next in order to regain my admin privileges.
Thanks for any and all advice XDA Community.
Cheers!

Try re-running visionary. It won't hurt anything and it installs su, busybox, and superuser.apk when you run it. It won't mess up anything you already have installed and it might fix your problem.
Also, I'm sure Whosdaman will tell you and move the thread when he sees this but make sure you post questions in the Q&A section.
Ran Visionary and no dice. Thanks for the tip though and sorry for posting in the wrong forum.
Any other ideas?
Try going into xbin (cd /system/xbin) and typing ls and see if su is in there. If it is you could try running rom manager and "fix permissions" if it will let you.
Good deal. I'm actually out fixing someone else's desktop computer at the moment. I'll attempt your advice later tonight.
Thanks again.

Ok, had a free moment and was able to run ls, su was there but unfortunately I wasn't allowed the super user access needed to fix permissions.

Please post questions in Q&A section.
1. Go into settings-applications-manage applications and try clearing superusers cache/data. See where that takes you.
2. If that did not work - isntall a fresh copy of superuser app from the market and once more see where that takes you.
Sorry about that. All future posts of these sorts I'll be sure to put there.

Tried both of your tips but unfortunately am still getting the same error when I run the "su" command.
Any other thoughts?

Update: Superuser automatically downloaded a new binary and told me to unzip it in recover mode.
I went into recover move and attempted to unzip the binary and was greeted with an error message that said the file couldn't be unzipped because it was "bad".

Can you get su in adb?
The more I think about it, You're s-off so you can fastboot new recovery image and then flash new rom with all the goodies preinstalled. May be the easiest route.
To be honest I've had my pocket computer for all of a week, so I'v still not had a chance to play around with adb.
The whole reason I rooted in the first place was so that I could flash custom roms. You think I'll be able to flash even though "su" privileges don't seem to be working properly in my current rom?

Update: It's clear from reading around these forums that the way to get to know your phone and thus be able to fix it is via adb. So I'm installing the Android SDK now. Thanks for all of your help Borodin1 and Grankin01

[GUIDE] Update Superuser From Market FIX!

I am running LeeDrOiD, but I know many people have this issue.
If you are trying to update Superuser from the market, and you get invalid signature and installation fails. This is my work around, which works for me.
My rom had superuser.apk and not Superuser.apk, which linux takes as two files whilst windows references everything in capitals.
Download Superuser Update Fixer.
Run the application, which will say that signature fails. Then run the fix, which will say okay all the way through and the signature still fails.
Download Root Explorer, and mount /system/ as rw.
Go to /system/apps/ and you will find Superuser.apk and superuser.apk, rename or delete superuser.apk and then rename Superuser.apk to superuser.apk.
Restart your phone.
Go to app drawer, and launch Superuser. Your whitelist and blacklist has been erased.
Run Superuser Update Fixer and you should see signature match is okay, now click update from market and enjoy.

thanks for your work, can explain what exactly the app is doing?

I don't think there is. There may be another app that does this job though. You need something that can mount system rw.
It may be possible to do this step with ADB, however I just posted how I did it.
ES file explorer has this system rw option, it says that it only works with CM and some other rom but it works for me and I'm running leedroid. Only problem is you have to unmount and mount it again every now and then.
Yeah to make it work just select the non CM7 mod option, HIAPK i think it's called? either way just select that one, apart from what the guy above me said about the remounting every now and then, should be a good substitute for root explorer
I downloaded superuser from market and the fix but wen using es explorer i only see one superuser?

I only have the Superuser.apk, but still have problems on the update. I had lost root and just decided to reroot, but got the Ninja Icon app. I tried to update - sig failed. Tried the Update Fixer and on changing to 644 fail, check sigs fail. Then I tried this.
Any other ideas on how to get it?
Wat rom u using?
